My husband and I visited the Mackenzie Cafe twice in the last month. The first time the "country gravy" tasted like paste. We brought it to the owners attention, and they were very gracious about it. Wanting to give the place another try, we went there this morning. (7/6/13) Hubby ordered the country gravy again, and it was nearly as bad as the first time! It was think, tasteless and barely tasting of sausage at all. This time when we told them, the owner came back out with a small sample of gravy that shed thinned and pretty much insisted that that took care of the problem. It didnt. I ordered a muffin as my side and it was HUGE. Sadly, it was dry, tasteless and almost inedible. While the owners are really nice and the service excellent, the food just is not up to par, and certainly not what it used to be. We wont go back.

Always excellent service, been coming here off and on for 20 years. Great food! Even better service, the owners work there every day and are so gracious and friendly. I read the heavy was bad in another review (I sint like the gravy much either but everything else has so much flavor and originality. Love this place.

I ate here once years ago and enjoyed it. It was disappointing this morning. Portions are noticeably smaller and price is up. My hash browns were slightly under cooked, mild raw potato taste, and the sour dough toast tasted suspiciously like not sour dough. Staff was very friendly and nice though.

The main menu for breakfast is great, but the owners are always drawing me toward their great specials. My favorite was the French Quarters, cream cheese and strawberry stuffed French toast. -- Mic Lang, the breakfast bro.

Always great tasting food and the absolute best service from the owners. While we were there they had employees actually cleaning with tooth brushes and polishing the silver. Amazing.
