We enjoy the food and atmosphere at ACME and have been in several times; weve always had a good experience and have come to appreciate the slow-paced service. I was disappointed today, though, when I stopped in to see if ACME would consider honoring a gift certificate given to me by my 89-year-old mother-in-law. She gave it to me at Christmas and then promptly headed into a series of unexpected surgeries followed by an equally unexpected surgery of my own. Health issues took over and we were just trying to get from one day to the next when the gift certificate expired. When I popped in today to ask if there might be consideration, I was just given a flat "no." No discussion, no opportunity to explain, no consulting with anyone - just "no." I realize its on me that the expiration date came and went, but they did, after all, happily take my mother-in-laws money. I expect better customer service from a place that considers itself a neighborhood mom and pop shop. Well have to think twice before we visit again.

Theres great decor in this restaurant. I love the hanging Mason Jar lamps (from the collection of the owners mom). It has a fun funky vibe inside and theres outdoor seating as well. The food is where it starts to get disappointing. There were no low carb menu options (other than salad) for my mother. She ended up getting a burger without the bun. The burger was dry and not much better than youd get from a mid range fast food joint. The Sloppy Joe special ($11.50) was served on an average sized bun (no heaping portion here), the sauce was similar to spaghetti meat sauce (would have preferred Manwich from a can) and a little more cheese could have improved it. I never thought Id be disappointed with a Sloppy Joe. I did see other tables get heaping orders of speciality dishes that looked good. None of the three dishes we ordered justified the price. They werent bad but they just werent that good.

Liked the food and waitress. HATED THE AMPED UP BASE MUSIC. Our waitress turned off the base 2-3 times for us. MANAGER-IS IT ABOUT THE PAYING CUSTOMERS (THESE ARE THE PEOPLE THAT PAY YOU) OR THE STAFF? Loud base is OK if youre creating a night club atmosphere in the evening but most inappropriate for the breakfast and lunch crowd. Strongly suggest you turn off the amplified base during the day. Today money walked out of your door because of AMPED UP BASE MUSIC. If I werent with someone I would have wslked out before breakfast arrived.

I have eaten here a number of times with my wife and others. Weve always been thrilled with the food and the comfortable atmosphere. The portions are certainly more than adequate in fact if anything they serve slightly larger than they should. The menu is what it is and all the food is delicious. It is certainly true that some people might not find anything on the menu for a specialized diet. But if youre looking for comfort food with classic American style but updated recipes this is a great place to eat.

I got the Angus burger and when I tried to put the ketchup on my bun the top blew off getting ketchup all over me and the floor and bar. This was no fault of them. I squeezed it too hard. They immediately brought me wet towels to clean myself and got the floor and bar cleaned super fast and were super friendly and helpful. Also the burger was awesome. Pretty generic/ average burger but done way above average. Everything just seemed to be a good quality between the food and staff service.

The name is a bit deceiving for this nicely upscale dining place. Its been remodeled extensively inside and out and has a shabby-chic look that has been put together with a dicerning eye. But you came to eat and thats where ACME Cafe shines. For starters, I recommend the Pastrami Cheese Fries, a wonderful poutine by another name. The Hot Brown, native to Kentucky, is equally good, as is the Meatball Sandwich. The soups are always very tasty, too.

My gf and I were both unimpressed with our food and I didnt finish my fried fish which was way too saturated in the oil. Im not a picky eater and generally will adjust my rating upwards if need be (I compare a good dive bars to a bad dive bars not to fancy restaurants), but I dont understand the ratings, perhaps it was a fluke and if I came again Id like it, but, my one experience was bad enough I see no need to try this place again.

We love ACME Cafe and Jeff James. Jeff keeps the menu updated throughout the year with fresh local ingredients and his wife makes the BEST pastries! Service is good, weve only had one poor experience ever and we have been coming here since they opened on a regular basis. I definitely recommend this restaurant, great food, great drinks, the best craft ice creams and great vibes. If you havent eaten here, youre missing out!

What a super fun place! The wait staff is very friendly and the food is delicious. I have been there 4 times now and have not been disappointed yet. Dont go if youre on a time crunch as the average time for our visits is about an hour and twenty mins. That being said, I highly recommend this restaurant. Be sure to ask for Cori, who is one of the best waitresses weve experienced in a long while!

Actually a bit disappointed my first visit. My first meal is fish and chips. The fish was great and the chips were not good. I asked the server if they could make them crispy. He said yes. Uh, no. Didnt do it. Server did not seem very attentive either. Ice cream is made on site. I wasnt impressed with that either. Im sorry. I guess I expected more because I had heard so many good things.

Food was good, I got the parmesan crusted rockfish and it was the best fish Id had in a long time! Perfectly done, juicy. Sides were also hood. Cole slaw needs to be a little sweeter. But smashed potatoes were terrific. Wife got chicken fried chicken, and found it to be excellent. Nice atmosphere with music not too loud. Waiter Tony was nice helpful and efficient.

Its ok. Its not that Im against paying $13 dollars for a three egg scramble with GF toast, but if I do, I expect to be able to find the meat/veg within the scramble. Im willing to pay for quality. I dont see any reason to go back or recommend it. Its on par with most other breakfast places in Salem but youll pay Portland prices.

What a disappointment. Overpriced, underwhelming portions. I have never before paid 6 bucks for a warm can of a&w and half a scoop of ice cream. There wasnt enough ice cream to cool the soda, leaving a glass of sludge. Skip this place, and go to word of mouth, wild pear, sassy onion, any of them are a better option than here.

Amazing, Amazing and did I forget to say Amazing. I don’t need to write a book to tell you how good this place is. There’s usually a long wait because it’s worth it. On the flip side, maybe I should lie and say it’s not so good so the you won’t go and the line will be shorter (joking).
