Friendly staff right from the reception to service. Our waiter was Rory, and he was helpful, and very attentive even while juggling a busy lunch crowd. I had the veggie hash which while it sounds unexciting, was amazingly tasty for a guy that leans towards meats. Two soft eggs on top of a very creative selection of chopped vegetables. Wonderful rich flavors. Not something I normally would choose, but will now be a "go to" menu choice. A great meal for a modest price. My wife had the Cobb salad with a twist - wonderful rare steak slices replaced the customary cubed chicken. Apple vinaigrette dressing was a creative taste treat. Roaring fireplace on a snowy and cold day in the bar area makes for a nice feel. One of the best meals we had in town this trip and a great value. Well be regulars when shopping in the Pearl.

Great place to come for lunch or anytime! Nice open window seating with some outdoor tables. I ordered the beat chips which were tasty as a snack but to be honest I would not get them again. I order the grilled romaine salad and added grilled trout to it... when it first came out I was sort of sad with the portion size but it was absolutely delicious! Perfect for a warm sunny day. Before I ordered my food I choose a draft beer by pfriem which was their rauchbier (smoked beer) it was delicious and paired extremely well with the grilled romaine with trout salad! I was one happy girl. Cheers!

Very cool location and abiance. However, dissappointed with the (lack of) service. I went with 3 other people to have lunch last weekend. When we arrived, there were only 3-4 other guests in the restaurant. We were immeditaely seated at a table outside. 15 minutes later, we had yet to receive water or be greeted by our waiter. A waiter was helping the tables around us, but we were never acknowledged. Dissapointed, we got up and went to a different restaurant down the street. The menu looked good, but with all the other amazing restaurants in the area, Im not sure if Ill be back.

The location and decor are nice, but nothing overwhelming. Cocktails are reminiscent of other well known combinations, and with the exception of a seasonal pumpkin rum, nothing overly special. Despite plenty of excess capacity, we received somewhat dirty looks from numerous members of the wait staff because we were holding two seats for friends who ended up being delayed because of work. If someone else really wants to try it out, its worth stopping by at happy hour, but try and steer them towards any other number of bars/restaurants in NW.

This is the old Music Millennium Building on 23rd Street. It was very loud inside because of concrete floors and many hard surfaces. The "cozy" atmosphere I expected from the name was non-existent. Service was nice enough, but our server had to go check to see what the bartenders special was that night. And there was an unpleasant odor near our table in the front corner of the bar-- we even checked our shoes to see if we had stepped in something. All in all, it is a very disappointing use of a beloved Portland icon.

The atmosphere of Fireside is nice; however, myself and most of the group I ate with left here frustrated after when we came here for a dinner. My burger was cooked beyond well done for ordering it medium -- and others I went with said their burgers were cold in the middle after they ordered medium well and well done. The cocktails and service were fine -- not great, not awful. For the amount one would pay at Fireside, I know they could get a much more satisfying meal elsewhere in Portland.

This was a nice cozy restaurant. They had seating in and outside. The seats bybthebwindow can be opened on nice evenings and they have a little fireplace in the center. I had the pan seared salmon that was served over panatera with escovitch type peppers apples and onions. This was by far some of the best seafood Ive had lately. The food required No seasoning what so ever. If i make it back to Portland, I will definitely come back here.

Stopped for a later brunch on a Sunday. Wonderful Cobb salad with fall veggies and perfectly done steak. Amazing drinks (try the timely fashion, takes a few extra minutes for the smoke, but worth it) ! The cinnamon roll was from heaven and the soup of the day (caramelized onion bisque) was a miracle. Update: went back for dinner. It was just as good! We love this place.

All around, absolutely best meal experience Ive had in Portland! A little spendy for a college budget; however, worth every penny without a second thought. It has a modern, Northwest atmosphere with a good balance of hipster-ness with hip-hop music. Would recommend to anyone! Even if this is not your personal style, friendly staff make everyone feel welcome.

Beer was very good. Waited for 35 minutes with our plates in front of us (bar forgot to order our food) for our starter, the lamb kabob which was over bearing due to the seasoning. We were given beat chips (yummy) to make up for forgetting. Staff was friendly but the bar was inattentive. Long wait.... might attempt again but probably not.

Went for lunch on a Tuesday and staff was inattentive and after almost an hour the food came out cold. It wasnt bad food but it wasnt worth the wait and would have been better warm/hot. Definitely could have used a drink refill during the wait.

The atmosphere and service were great. It has a very chill vibe, and the interior is beautiful. The food was tasty but a bit more expensive then comparable places. Awesome place for a bite and a drink, if you are looking for nice ambience.

Really enjoyed the Halibut special this weekend. Food is excellent (5 stars) although the portions are a bit small and the prices high which is why I would rate it 4 stars. A nice dining spot that I plan to visit again.

Even if you have to wait to eat here, it is so worth it! I love the atmosphere with their cozy fireplaces, and adorable tiny succulents on the table. The food was so amazing, and they have wonderful brunch cocktails.

This is an outstanding place! Its a personal favorite for the decor, food, service, and the drinks are amazing. Friendly people, and a great location in one of the coolest buildings on 23rd. Its my go-to place!

Great cocktail, great cozy and warm ambiance with a fire place inside. We had scallops with sautée butternut squash, smoked buffalo in his jus with purée of legumes. Good stuff, reasonably priced !

Ive only been for cocktails, but theyre always top notch. If youre looking to cozy up with a toddy or pumpkin hot buttered rum (seasonal) and have a friendly chat with a bartender, look no further.

The atmosphere here was nice, I loved the decor. The food was different and refreshing and drinks were good. The staff was okay, they almost seemed as of they didnt care of we were there or not.

I love this place. The decor is top notch. The food is delicious (kind of pricey) and the beer/cocktail selection is great. Its also in the heart of 23rd so its a great date location.

Deliciously well thought out food. Skip the El Chupacabra specialty cocktail. The service from everyone is top notch and youll never want to leave the patio. -Minneapolis MN Foodie
