My husband and I chose JoBar for our weekly date night dinner away from the kids. Big mistake! The service was excruciatingly slow. I am not sure if it was the server or if they had a lack of servers but we had to repeatedly ask for things and the wait in between drinks, dinner, and then dessert was the longest I can ever remember from any restaurant. By the time we got our dessert, I looked at my watch and realized we had been there nearly THREE HOURS! No wonder I had been feeling a sense of panic to get back to the kids. Also, the dessert my husband got was a joke! He ordered the cheesecake which was the size of a tablespoon and a half of something shaped into a round cake for $8! I was mortified! We will be spending our money elsewhere from now on.

Food has never failed to deliver. Was with a group of five and we everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food. Its was a brunch and so I had their fresh albacore ceviche (delicious...had avocado which was unexpected but great!) and seasonal side salad (perfect size with everything crisp and fresh with tangy goat cheese). Listened to some great live music, finished with a nicely prepared cappuccino and seasonal desert. They share menus with their sister restaurant/ bakery Papa Hayden. There is no way to go wrong here. Small places so always hard to get into but always worth the wait. Summer time like now has great outdoor seating too.

Im surprised this place is a 4+. We had a table for eight ... it was 20 minutes until someone came around to ask if we wanted drinks (albeit 6 of 8 were seated, though you would think someone offered). Once we did order drinks, it took over 15 minutes for them to arrive. One of the cocktails had a bug in it. We had 4 starters at the table - none were great; the fondue was terrible. They agreed and made us a new one - the second was okay but not great. The entrees were well liked - food seemed fresh and high quality. Desserts were nice as well. Service generally was really slow and average. Wouldnt recommend it overall.

My favorite spot on 23rd. Beverage choices are perfect, food is gourmet, and the service is prompt. Plus in the summer they open up the bar to the street and you can get the breeze and the people watching, which is priceless! Papa Haydns connected too so you can get a too die for dessert when youre done with happy time or din. I come here every time I visit Portland and a great stop while youre out shoppin.

My husband and I were in Portland for my birthday and stopped into jobar because NCAA tourny was on (Kansas lost to Iowa..ouch)- they had a really great hh ($3 wine) and cheap & delicious apps (pizza was YUMMY). We really didnt plan to stay long, but the service was good as was everything else, so we stayed for another game and more wine and food. Really good experience!!

Drinks and happy hour and desserts are the reason to go here. Apple cider is the drink to gave in the winter! Rum. No apple brandy. This is a great place for cougar watching at the bar, since there are nightly train wrecks in the summer. Also if you can sit outside, do it. It makes it a more leisurely meal.

In an area packed with little cafes and bars, Jo Bars happy hour stuck out. They had so much good food and super affordable prices. Although they serve their beer in inappropriate glassware, the rest of the meal was amazing. Fried chickpeas, gourmet bruschetta, sweet potato chips, it was all tasty.

One of the best happy hours in PDX! The service is friendly and during the summer its one of my favorite places to sit and people watch. TIP: ask about their specials and try one. Ive never been dissapointed by a special. TIP#2: Try one of their specialty martinis!

Great food (Rotisserie chicken FTW!) and solid drinks are what make this place a great standby. Big windows allow for great on/off season sitting and people watching and specialty house cocktails make it an ideal place for small plates and a night cap.

I love the Happy Hour. The Happy Hour menu is plentiful and consists of many items that are not served at other bars. Particularly love the Pan-pacific influenced plates such as tuna tartar, etc. Great place to unwind after work.

Jo Bar has great atmosphere and great food. Their fondue is the best and super cheap! If you dont have much time, grab a fondue for fifteen minutes.

We got seated pretty quickly but no one came to give us water and ask what we want for half hour so we just left.
