My girlfriend and i want to thank Chinese Gardens Restaurant for being so horrible that it made us leave. We waited for our poor excuse of a waitress. (Was talking on her personal cell as she seated us and as we left the place immaturaly threw the menus on the table that we sat at. About 5 min or so before we decided to leave we had looked around at our empty surrounding tables to realize they had dirty plates and silverware, some with food that looked to had been sitting there for a while (mind you no one has left our area seeing as it was only my girlfriend and i and a small group that was there before we got there). I got up and looked down the hall to the back of the place and noticed a back seating area that was about 60% full from what i could see and people were being served and waited on whereas we hadnt seen one for about 20 minutes. Yes we waited for 30 mintues total from walk in to leaving. At this point my girlfriend and i leave with disgust and the massive hunger for chinese food So we try this place not much further away from home. Its called The Rainbow Dragon, off of Stark st here in Portland. We walked in and were immediately impressed, we were meeted and seated with in 45 seconds, it was one man from what we saw up front and, god forbid i remember is name as this happened over a week ago, a man or two in the kitchen. When he gave us our menu and left to tend to other customers he came back with water and got our drink order, less than 4 min easily. We order our food about 3 minutes after that and looking at the menu it was significatly cheaper than Chineae Gardens. 2-4 dollars less on every menu item and they even had a wider selection. We got an appetizer and two full meals. I kid you not, about 5-6 minutes later our appetizer shows up, perfectly done. 4-5 minutes after that he notices we are finishing up on our appetizer and leaves. He comes back about a minute or so later with our meals and we ate as much as we could. The food we had left over was pretty large amount. So we took it to go, we paid and the grand total for everything was 33 dollars plus 8 dollars tip for amazing service and food. Where as we would have spent around 45-50 at Chinese Gardens for about half the amount of food. Now i cant speak for the quality of food from the Chinese Gardens but service alone Rainbow Dragon was above the rest. So much so to write a review here Thanking the source of which pushed me in the direction of the Rainbow Dragon.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE I went in to pick up some take-out this afternoon and should have known what I was walking into considering the place looked deserted. I ordered Seasme Chicken and Mongolian Beef with eggrolls and crab puffs. When I was ordering I asked the lady dod the have sesame chicken as it was not in the regular menu. She said they dod and tgat it was under the appetizers. I asked was it the breaded chicken with the brown saise and seeds and she said yes. When I got home, there was no sauce just plain breaded chicken and a packet of sesame seeds. The order of rice was so small it wouldnt even feed 1 person much less the 3 I bought food for. The eggrolls were mushy on the inside and there was not even any sweet and sour sauce. When I called to ask she told me that I had to buy the sauce extra. Wait what thats crazy. $36 for food and I dont even get any sauce. She told me she would give me a $9 credit for next time but after this why would I ever go in for a next time. I asked her to credit it to my debit card and she was basically like no we cant do that. DO NOT GO IN HERE EVER THE FOOD AND SERVICE IS HORRIBLE!

drove from camas,wa. to try this restaurant, what a big mistake. Some of the worst Chinese food i ever had. For our first visit we tried several different dishes. Three chicken dishes were like all the same, except they pour different sauces upon them just prior to serving.Little chucks of chicken covered in a deep breading, without the sauces they are all the same. This goes for the pork items as well. Small chunks of pork with heavy breading and then depending upon your choice., sweet/sour they add at the last min the sauces, yuch. Tried their House Special Chow Main@ @$13.00 what a waste. Dried out noodles served in a mess with 2 small shrimp, one pc of meat and a bunch of mushroom with no seasoning or sauce what so ever..not eatable. Lastly, ordered the sweet/sour pork, horrible told waitress we didnt want it she said to bad however .would provide a replacement but she never came back and we had an argument about if we were to pay for something we didnt want..And they are not cheap...this is one of the worst Chinese restaurants i have ever eaten at.

I have eaten at a ton of Chinese food stops and this one is close to my house so I tried it out. I have gone here twice and will probably go again. The food honestly is pretty normal. You could probably get the same quality at the safeway deli if it were freshly cooked. Its super cheap though. You can get a HUGE plate of food for 2 people to share at around $8-9. Their menu is set up with alot of different combo which I like because then my 7 yr old son can order what he wants since he doesnt think sweet and sour chicken sounds good, but he knows he likes it after he sees the pic. The menu is geared towards all sized appetites from small to extra large portions, so you only have to pay for what you are hungry for, or you can order the large plates and have leftover. By all means, I would recommend this to any family wanting to keep on a budget. Its nothing to drive across town for, and the service is always average as well so you dont have to feel obligated to tip alot.

They must be struggling to make ends meet. They no longer give enough rice with to go orders to go with the entree. But theyll sell you more. They no longer give out sauces with foods that traditionally call for them, but will sell you these, too. Want hot mustard with your BBQ pork? Thats going to cost. The breaded/fried foods look and taste like they dumped into the bin straight from the freezer before being rolled through some sauce. If they remember the sauce. Why do I still eat here? I dont very often, but its the only restaurant thats open in the evening in this area and their stir fry options are edible, if not particularly tasty. When its your only option, stay away from anything breaded and double check your to go order before leaving. Its food. But if you have another option, take it.

We were seated right away and the woman who sat us was pleasant. Our waitress, on the other hand, was not. In the middle of taking our orders she grabbed a jug of water and started refilling the waters of the tables around us. Which I thought was extremely rude and probably the reason my son didnt get the drink he ordered. Why our glasses were never refilled is beyond me since she seemed so concerned about refilling everyone elses drinks. She was not at all personable and actually made me quite angry. My sons food came between 5 and 10 minutes before ours which was frustrating. I did not leave a tip and even considered putting a penny face down like in the old days to signify horrible service but decided she wasnt even worth that much.
