Ever since C/G opened Ive lived under the spell of barbecue breezes that gently waft in through my living room window beckoning me to awake yourself, arise from thy couch, and come to the burning den of succulent poultry. Last night I gave in to that temptation. When I thought I was in for the night, binging on Lost, that temptress sang her song and I gave in. So I on put some clothes and scuttled over to place my order. I hardly knew what was happening, and was more or less hypnotized when I heard myself ordering a quarter portion and potatoes (what they call original). I mustve come to my senses because I remember a little friendly banter with the staff. I tasted their Aji sauce which came drizzled on the chicken and potatoes. I was afraid it would be too spicy for me after sampling it, but Im a man (and insecure) so I couldnt tell them to go light on the Aji. I took the food home, continued The tale of a group of survivors on an enchanted island, and I tried a potato. I once again fell into another level of consciousness, having tasted the most perfectly crunchy potato thats ever entered my mouth, and I didnt stop until there wasnt a potato left. There were even a few peppers and onions strewn about to sweeten and broaden the palette. Quickly, the potatoes were gone. I lifted the chicken to see if one was hiding, but it wasnt. :( Onto the meat. While I was still longing for the crunch of another potato, I was quickly distracted by the flavor and juiciness of the chicken. I wondered how I ever had such scorn for the bird, and how any could ever rate it beneath the cow. If chickens can sing, that bird sang its last song well. I devoured every last bit of meat, and sucked the flavor from the bones. I tore the chicken skin like a lion at a fresh kill. This meal was releasing something primordial. Finally, the meal was done. My roommate and his girlfriend came home shortly after I finished. I didnt even say hello, I just said I finally tried it. Go there. And thats what I say to you reading this. Get over there. Now! Your regrets will be zero. Your carnality will be satisfied. Global warming will be slowed. And mankind might finally live up to his potential, but only if you go there.

Chicken and Guns is probably my favorite food cart Ive eaten at since theyve opened 2 years ago. The Rotisserie Chicken has great smokey flavor and is well seasoned. The chicken is always cooked thoroughly and a bit dry for my tastes but each meal is as consistent as the last. The potatoes...the star on the menu imo is the roasted potatoes with the green aji sauce. I dont know how something as simple and basic as potatoes can be this transcendent and taste bud altering. The potatoes are crisp on the surface and the rough nooks and crannies take that crunch to the next level...the interior of the potatoes are satisfyingly soft and creamy. Add in the aji sauce and you have a winning combination. The sauce is so good that I always get an extra side of sauce just so I dont have to ration it out.

If you want a fun memorable place to eat this is it. The atmosphere is best at night or sunset. The outdoor fires and tables are a nice touch. The chicken green sauce is a little spicy and would bother some. But I loved it. The only down sides is the water provided was from a water gallon bucket and it makes the water taste bad because of the plastic. Also the garbage cans are gross and you have to open the lid and it was all greasy. So thats why I gave it 4 stars.

What is all the fuss about? Its good chicken but its not the best Ive had by a long shot. I think people like the name more than the actual chicken. The potatoes are good and extra crispy. Chicken was cooked perfectly but its nothing to write home about. That green sauce they use is amazing and could have used more of it. The sauce was the star. This is in a food truck park with tables to eat at which is great but steer clear of the porta-potties.

These guys are great! I know that every time I come here I will have an amazing meal. Plus this place is great for groups you can get anywhere from a quarter of a chicken to a full chicken plus your choice of salad or potatoes. I usually get the salad but the potatoes are amazing too. To top it all off the pod that they are located in is amazing. There is lots of covered and uncovered seating and they are open late!

Terribly bland chicken, literally no salt and pepper. Skin was soft and not rendered/had very little color. Potatoes were so over fried they were basically chips. I honestly have no clue how you conceptualize a place like this place and their offerings. The chicken is not a pro product, it needs tons of work. Be objective about your menu and improve. You need to.

Today I had the special, it was the most amazing brisket. This brisket fell apart in your mouth. It was the best brisket I have ever had. The appearance of the food that came from the kitchen was just spectacular. I will recommend this food cart to anyone and everyone. I will be returning

I dont know what sort of witchcraft they use to make the potatoes so damn delicious, but I find them difficult to resist. The chicken is well seasoned and the food cart itself is very awesome looking. Definitely worth a visit if youre looking for some of the best cart food in Portland.

Simple menu of chicken with a great rub cooked perfectly. Loved the sauces that came with the wings. Located in a food cart pod with covered seating and fire pits. Cash only but ATMs located just outside the pod. The pod has movie nights weekly during the summer.

Just visited this lovely place, and had a wonderful experience. Simple menu, simple and fresh ingredients, fast service, very reasonably priced, cool atmosphere, and killer food. If they sold jars of their sauce they make I would have my pantry stocked with it!

The "guns" (fried potatoes) were really, really good. We got a half chicken and it was good but it just felt like it was on the edge of undercooked... personally, I would have preferred it just a little more cooked even if it was less tender as a result.

Love the chicken, potatoes, and salad. I like to get the quarter chicken with split sides (half order of potatoes + half order of salad). Yummy, flavorful, but also good for people not into SPICY food. Not cash only like the crêpe cart.

Tied with Zuni in SF as "the best chicken Ive had in my life". Their pickled onions (that have cinnamon?) are amazing, as well as the aji sauce. Its worth paying an extra buck for getting more sauce and onions with the Original style.

Fun place to eat at. Their chicken was seasoned well. And I enjoyed their sweet sauce too. Their "Guns" were pretty good as well, some of them were a little to crispy though. I would recommend this place to friends and family though!

Oh man! Their food is really delicious! All of the flavors come together perfectly and the texture of the tender, juicy chicken and the hearty, crops potatoes were perfect together! Will hopefully come back again soon.
