My husband ordered the Captains Platter, but they were out of oysters, so they offered to substitute extra prawns. When his plate came, the batter looked almost burnt and was way too crispy, but the fish inside was mushy. My son ordered the crab mac & cheese. It looked good, but there was very little crab in it. I ordered a Crab Louis without onions, which the waiter acknowledged, but when I got my order, the onions were right there on the plate. There was a little tiny cup of Louis dressing which even just dipping my fork tines in (instead of pouring it over the salad) didnt go far enough. I was left with a huge pile of dressing-less salad. I asked for more dressing, and the waiter said yes, but never brought me any. Never came by to ask if we needed more water or anything. The manager (I assume it was the manager) was busy schmoozing with a few customers but never stopped by our table. We had to go up to the pay station to ask for a to-go container for my sons mac & cheese. All in all, a very disappointing experience, and we will not go back.

When this place first opened up, the prices were fair and the food was good. As the prices increased, the food and staff also went downhill. Is it a requirement to have purple hair if you want to work there? Last time we got the chowder (that used to be wonderful), it didnt even taste remotely like clam chowder, it tasted like vinegar. Couldve gotten better fries in the freezer section. Might I add that the wait time is ridiculous and the staff is uncoordinated-break a few more dishes why dont you? Would not recommend.

Our visit to this so called establishment was not good at all. When we first arrived it was a bunch of teenagers in the back arguing. they didnt even realize we were there. The food on the menu sounded amazing but let me tell you it was extremely horid. Breakfast burrito had cold under cooked potatoes and very dry. they forgot my salsa and sausage the I asked for and also paid for. I would highly recommend skipping this place. Even if you get 10.00 dollars off. Service was bad and the food even worse.

Went here for convience located next to our hotel. There was only one other customer . How can a place called the chowder house screw up chowder. The chowder was barely warm and very thin. We also ordered the crab cake platter . What a joke for 12.99 the smallest whimpiest slider with salad filling the plate . Our hotel gives a 10.00 voucher for breakfast but my family said please can we not go there for breakfast. Come on people take some pride in your establishment!!!!! Boooo!!!!!

I think the food is wonderful its not over fried everything is fresh the only thing I would say is the cold slaw needs a little more dressing on the side to go along with what they give you. The staff is wonderful we asked for things to go and they brought it out to the car. Also the clam chowder was yummy wanted more chunks of Clams though:) Just read some not so great reviews,but our experience was great. Want to say Stephanie was a wonderful employee :)

Ordered our food, wasnt told until after waiting 20mins that they were out of chowder. Were also out of many other options (which is a small menu to begin with). Staff were slow and unresponsive to customers. The food two of our guests had was considered good which were the fish and chips. All in all, dont waste your time or money there as they could care less if they get business or not by their demeanor.

Not exactly the fine dining experience we had in mind that day but the place was clean and bright, the staff was friendly and the fish and chips were very good although it seemed to take a long time to prepare it. We dont eat red meat so we were disappointed that the clam chowder had bacon in it but thats just us. The menu seemed a little skimpy but what we did get was fine.

We should have known when we pulled up on a Sunday afternoon and the parking lot was empty that we were in trouble. The food was terrible. Everything tasted like it came from a frozen bag or a can. The colslaw was dry, the tiny chunk of stale freezer burned fish was encased in a huge greasy batter. Should have followed gut instincts....very disappointing to say the least.

Would not recommend. The service needs to be vastly improved. Very limited dining space. We waited about half an hour just for clam chowder. However, the clam chowder was amazing. I would call it more of a potato soup than clam chowder but either way it was delicious. So if I didnt mind an awkward staff and a long wait, then this would get a higher rating from me lol.

We ate breakfast twice because the breakfast plates were so delicious. Their hashbrowns are small rectangular shaped that my son loved to pick up and dip in ketchup like a fresh french fry. My eggs were cooked medium well, just how I love them. The toast was a bit dry, but a little jelly did the trick.

Waitress was very friendly, but we were given a wrong beer, and fries instead of salad. The clam chowder was the worst my dad has ever had. Very greasy and the soup was broke. Disappointed that the clam chowder was bad at a chowder house... But the fish and chips were great! And I loved the tartar sauce!

Good food and one of the better priced restaurants in town, they also serve beer so you can get some local beers like arch rock brewing. Fish n chips were really good. Girlfriend ordered chicken strips and they were deep fried strips of grilled chicken..... I would stick to ordering seafood stuff lol

Thank You Chris and David!!!!!. Food was phenomenal!!! We had the fishermans breakfast and the gold beach pancakes and they hooked it up with some delicious hot coco for my little one and they gave us a free cup of thier famous clam chowder. Thank you guys so much!!! Highly recommend!!!!!

I cant believe reading some of these reviews. My wife and I just had a perfect experience. Great service, super fast. I had the breakfast burrito, it was delicious and cooked perfectly. My wife had a loaded omelet, she loved it. And all for $16!!!!??? Amazing. Wish we lived closer!

The food was nothing special. No reason to go there when you can get great food down the street. Staff mixed up the order and over charged us for our meal. The popcorn shrimp was over cooked and hard, tasted like it had been frozen. My son liked his clam chowder he ordered there.

This place is probably Worst service worst food in America. Stay away. We ordered fish taco 8-20-2017 before eclipse , it took longer than an hour. I inspected hotels all around America and ate out for years and I have never ever seen or heard anything like that in my life.

Food was okay, not outstanding and the prices are a bit high IMO. Seemed a little pretentious to me and even though it is the "Chowder House", they dont serve chowder with each meal, you have to pay $5 for a cup of it if you want some, WTF. I likely wont return.
