A hidden, rustic gem in Eugene! Hideaway Bakery sits behind Mazzis, and shares the kitchen with them. They offer breads, pastas, pastries, and all manner of baked goods, as well as some prepared foods such as sandwiches and lasagna that are made with bakery ingredients. They go for a hearty, whole-grain style for a lot of their products - no white bread will be found on the premises! They have both indoor and outdoor seating, which is laid back and informal. Dont be surprised if someones dog wants to say hi while youre seated outside! In addition to regular food items, they also serve up a case full of sweeter items - cakes, meringues, and so on. Finally, there is an espresso bar. In places like these, the espresso is usually of middling quality, an afterthought, but they dont treat it that way at Hideaway. Going in and ordering one of their potato donuts (trust me, its good) and a coffee drink is a relaxing and delicious treat.

Went here in search of a bakery that sells artisan bread; most other bakeries in the area are sweet/dessert kinds. About a handful of bread variety $4.50-6/each in addition to dessert like items and coffee. Bought ciabata bread and it did not disappoint. Did not try coffee so cant say much other than the coffee menu had good variety and prices range from $2-4. They have a medium sized outdoor sitting area that must be busy in summer days. Will come back to try coffee. Bakery was hard to spot driving by, no big signs and the place is hidden behind Mazzis Italian restaurant. Did not see their indoor seating area, must have been from a different entrance so Ill have to explore next time Im here.

The food here is amazing. We visit the bakery all the time for a delicious salad and a nice London fog! I originally posted with a lower score because of some slight inconsistencies (thinking I wouldnt hear anything back) but the owner contacted me expressing her most sincere apologies and assured me everything would been taken care of. The customer service was VERY professional and thorough. (Which is kind of a tough thing to find in Eugene these days sadly.) Thank you for all that you have done in the matter.

One of the best kept secrets of S. Eugene! Excellent coffee, great breakfast food nice atmosphere. Inside seating with fireplace and windows, outside seating with heaters in ceiling and small sand box for kids. Behind one of Eugenes oldest Italian Restaurant (Mazzis) Friendly staff and even when there is a long line you move pretty fast. The ordering area is separate from the seating area.... which keeps the noise levels down. Lovely place to hang out with a friend... BEST CARMEL LATTE Ive had in town.

The sandwiches they make on their own bread are the best in town! Also their bread by the loaf is my fave in Eugene. I like the country levain best. They are the only real good traditional bakery I know of in town that uses organic flour. The coffee I dont like cause its the new trendy fruity roasts. Great outdoor seating and sandbox for the kids. Highly recommend this place!!! p.s. I Always ask what day old breads or pastries they have. They are in a bin behind the counter you have to ask.

One of the worst experiences Ive ever had at a restaurant. My partner and I rode our bikes here and was told by an employee that there wasnt a bike rack, only to be told by a customer where it was. There is no clear indication of where to order, and I found ground beef in the vegetarian lasagna I had ordered. Ive been vegetarian for 3 years and take it very seriously, so I was very upset when I found out the vegetable lasagna had meat in it (which there was no indication of on the menu)

Hideaway has to be the best bakery in town. From their artisan sourdough loaves and hand-made pastries (with or without dairy) to their tofu scramble plates and excellent bagel sandwiches, Hideaway products scream of high quality ingredients and slow fermentation. Enjoy an espresso on their outdoor heated patio or indoors by the fire. My only complaint is that the bread is baked after hours, so you can only occasionally enjoy it hot out of the oven.

I have purchased hideaway bread at the grocery store and loved it. It wasnt until I walked in to their bakery that I truely understood how wonderful and what a varity of baked goods this little hidden bakery is/has. They are more then just breads try wonderful cookies, sandwiches, and pasteries. And this is a mommy friendly place complete with a sand box out front. And this business has been noted for their green buisness practices. I

Wood fired oven breads and pastries, really delicious menu items with excellent specials, local produce, good coffee. You dont even mind the parking lot setting, planters, heaters when its cold, sandbox. Dont try to get a wheelchair in the door on a busy day, with the labyrinth line. I bet you could order at window outside, if you ask. Love the pizza nights Tuesdays in summer, the live music, festival air.

Every latte I have ordered has been served with spoiled milk. They either leave it out or they are re-steaming, causing it to curdle. The breads are hit and miss. Sometimes hard as a rock, sometimes doughy, sometimes just right. Sandwiches are good. Cakes are good. Chocolate chip cookies are really big, thick, and hard as a rock. Ravioli and tamales are exceptional.

Consider this a five star review if you don’t need wifi. The breakfast fare is fantastic, but I’m one of those people who head to coffee shops to get work done. Their wifi didn’t work on any of our two phones or laptop, nor is it a secured access point. They were unable to get it operational after we brought up the issue.

unbelievably tasty pastries, sandwiches, and salads. My favorite is the tempeh salad...or the parisian breakfast sandwich...or the blueberry cream cheese vessel. Oh wait, I like just about everything that hideaway has to offer. The coffee could be better but the food is wonderful and it is a great company to support!

great coffee and selection of pastries. my only issue is that they should really fix their wifi. its not that big of an expense to have for a business and in a college town its a nice thing to have for the customers. it also helps international travelers who might not have a working cell phone.

A European cafe experience in South Eugene! Having just returned from two weeks in Spain, I can say that Hideaway Bakery can compete with any bakery café in Barcelona. Complete with atmosphere, great bread and pastries, and the sound of different languages being spoken around you. Thanks!

The Hideaway has some really great tasting gluten free loaves and on top of it, they accept "reservations" by setting some aside for you to pick up later. The staff there are really nice though there can be a bit of a wait sometimes.

Yummy food, great coffee and a nice place to sit outside year round! (Shade, fans and patio heaters.) I love to bring my dog. They have a sandbox for kids too. There is also indoor seating although it isnt as well used.

If not for snail service this would be purely wonderful. Tuesdays in summer are great with live music and pizza... and kinda worth taking 20 minutes to order, and then pay in another line. Still, Im here every week
