Our cruise ship visited Astoria a week ago. Some of the Eastern European staff on the ship told us about this place. My wifes ancestors originally came from the Ukraine 150 years ago and we could not pass up the opportunity to eat some of her soul food. We went to the restaurant around noon and were disappointed by a sign that said, "closed for a private party." We started to turn away when two of the ships staff walked up and said, "we are the private party, come on in!" WOW! The restaurant was clean and elegant. The food was inexpensive and fabulous - ethnic food that I havent had since my wifes dear mother passed away several years ago - cabbage rolls (sarma), pork dumplings (burek), baked cheese and lots more. We were joined by other ships staff and passengers and it turned into one big party with staff and pax doing ethnic dances in the aisles and all of us drinking shot after shot of Bosnian plum brandy! It was like a brief visit to Bosnia and nothing but fun! After three hours of partying with everyone, we staggered back to the ship. The experience was like a brief trip to Bosnia. Thank you staff at Drina Daisy. Too bad there are only 5 stars because we give it 10! Drina Daisy is a must stop for us on our next cruise to Astoria in May, 2017.

You cant miss out on this place! I happen to have been born and raised in Bosnia and know what true authentic food tastes like. Drina Daisy IS the place you will experience it. I havent gone back to Europe since I moved here 16 yrs ago, and this restaurant made me feel as if I travelled back in time. First thing I noticed as I stepped in are tons of live plants that create serene, warm and simple atmosphere. Light Bosnian folk music plays in the bacground and walls showcase some beautiful photos of Drina river.Menu is packed with delicious food, you cant go wrong with any of the choices. To truely feel you have experienced Bosnian culture, you should finish your meal with Sarajevo style coffee and desert Baklava. Bosnian coffee isnt just a good quality coffee you consume, its a whole new experience as its served very differently ( the photo posted here is of me drinking coffee in Drina Daisy) Ill let you go now so you can check it out for yourself. Cheers ( zivili)!

We had watched a travel show about Bosnia, Serbia, Montenegro the evening before we stopped in Astoria to get some lunch on our trek home. Saw this restaurant and thought wed try Bosnian food - we were very glad we did. I had the lamb (I love lamb and this was quite possibly the best lamb Ive ever had), my husband had the beef stew (a goulash) and our toddler had the beef pita. All were served with a small salad and a lot of fresh fruit. Perfect for lunch time as it was all filling but not heavy. We all enjoyed our food and would definitely eat here again. The gentleman who served us was wonderful, ensuring plates and cutlery were out of reach of our son, found a small childs size spoon for our son to use, even served his fruit nectar in a teapot with small glass so our son could hold the glass and we got to control how much liquid he had in the glass.

You have got to try Drina Daisy it is fantastic! My wife and I thought we would try this place out on our getaway weekend. We have never had Bosnian food, so did not know what to expect. The dining room was filled with Orchids and other live plants, a beautiful setting. The waiter was very attentive and answered all of our questions about the food. When the food arrived at our table, it was a work of art, displayed elegantly. The meat delicious and tender, in fact every part of the meal some of the best I have had in a restaurant in a long time. My understanding is that the cook is the owner and it is very important to her that it is done correctly. It for sure was for us, and we will be back!

We were the only customers for our entire meal. Our host and server seemed a bit cold at first but he warmed up to us quickly. He was a nice guy and told us of some of the history behind the food and drink, which were all fantastic. The paprika beef stew was delicious and tender, it must have been cooking since the night before. The pita (actually nothing to do with pita bread, more of a filo pie) and cabbage rolls had rich, complex flavors despite being relatively simple dishes. Our salad was well dressed and the fruit was fresh, too. Definitely recommended!

Cant say enough good things about this restaurant. The food was delicious. the portions were gracious. the owner is delightful. the waiter went out of his way, giving us fantastic samples of different dishes, and generally making us feel at home. i have very high standards for food, and ive traveled far and wide enough for those standards to mean something. ive never been compelled to write a good review before - this is my first. with no pretensions, drina daisy is authentic and delicious!

We went out of our way to visit again...and look forward to coming back soon too. The food is fresh, delicious, authentic and homemade. We ordered family style so that we can sample more of their offerings. Our kids remain finicky, but enjoyed the portions that they tried. Tonight we had the cucumber and tomato salad, cabbage rolls with beef, burak, followed by baklava. Beer was good too. All was excellent.!

What a find. A great little Bosnian restaurant in Astoria !! The food was delicious and the portions were very generous. I would definitely recommend Drina Daisy, particularly to people who are adventurous to try new things. My only regret is that I only stayed 1 day in Astoria and could not come back to try more from the menu.

I got a tiny bowl of very salty stew as a main course, padded out with a fruit salad? Ive been to Bosnia, the food was a lot better. However, its nice to see someone trying to do something different in an independently run establishment. You might like the different atmosphere. Not for me, but you might like to try it once.

This is the only Bosnian Restaurant in town. They serve lamb cooked on a spit ,hot and juicy, with Bosnian sides. I dont know the proper names but lamb is a fatty meat so they serve little picked peppers with sauerkraut inside and several kinds of sausage, plus wonderful old world style bread and some of the best

The roasted Lamb as mentioned by others is amazing. The combination of spices was very intriguing. We went back the next day and had the coffee and dessert. Cute service set. Remember, it may not be the exact way you enjoy coffee in the US, but that difference cant be critiqued. Highly recommended.

Dined here during an overnight stay in Astoria and we were not disappointed. We split the roasted lamb and stuffed cabbage rolls and both were excellent. The presentation was wonderful and the wine recommendations were spot on. If youre in need of a great meal you cant for wrong with Drina Daisy.

The server was very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and very nice. Food was delicious and very fairly prices. The food was light on the stomach which made it easy to finish the meal. Beef pita was excellent and the lamb was fall off the bone good. Will be coming here again!
