I have been going to this location (first when it was Kashmir Palace, and now as Flavors of India,) for many years. I have also tried Cafe Tandor (AWFUL AWFUL) and The Mad Greek (very good food). The food at Flavors of India is simply fantastic. Most restaurants disappoint now and again when you eat there often, but I am so happy to say that we have NEVER been disappointed -- not even once -- and we probably get take-out from them at least once a month; thats truly saying something. I highly recommend their Chicken Makhani (I get it without cilantro) and they will make it to your level of spice. Ive had it so hot I was chugging water and ran to a nearby store to get milk afterward to quell the fire in my stomach. However, my husband does not like spicy foods so he orders his mild to the point that our one year-old eats it. People who complain about the lunch buffet not being spicy enough need to think about what a buffet is all about. They have to serve EVERYONE on a buffet and not everyone (in fact, very few people) like very spicy foods. It would be expensive to make every dish at several different levels of spice. If you want to try this place, go at dinner time or order take-out and tell them to make it as spicy as you like it -- they will happily do that for you and always ask what level of spice anyway. The Naan is first rate and delicious. I have taken many, many friends here -- including an Indian friend -- and they were very pleased. I often see Indian families in this restaurant for dinner, which I think speaks volumes. I would be SO upset if this place ever closed. It is really one of my favorite places, hands down. Please give them a try, for take-out or dinner, and you will NOT be disappointed.

Visited 4/12/13: Terrible service and even worse food! I went for a dinner for 2 on a Friday night. The decor was ok but that was it. We decided to try the Thakali Thali which is listed as a "set meal". The waitress didnt know anything about what the set meal was, what our specific meal consisted of, how much food there would be, or anything. She had to go to the back room THREE TIMES to get help, and even then she didnt have answers to our questions. She didnt know how many drinks came with the meals, and if it was enough for two people. The diet coke didnt come out until the meal did, and it was warm. The food was bland, flavorless (bad for a place called Flavors of India). The daal was BURNED. It smelled burned and tasted worse. When we told the waitress, she didnt understand what we meant. The manager offered to get us another dish. It took 10-15 mins and it came back watered down and JUST AS BURNED. The goat was terrible. The chicken shahi korma was flavorless, like they just boiled chicken and plopped it in sauce. To make matters worse, TWO other tables there at the same time either got bad food or were ignored. One guy and his kid waited over 30 mins to get served, and they were clearly on a time crunch. I am Indian and I know Indian food. This was horrible food. I can handle poor service as long as the food is good. This food sucked. I left them a ZERO tip and wrote on the back of the bill how I felt. Hopefully they can fix this because they are giving Indian food a TERRIBLE name. I will NEVER go to this place again, and I will actively tell my friends NOT to go here.

*********Beware of Fraudulent********* Hi All, Read my full review, please. I had gone to this restaurant with my husband last month. Stepping in the restaurant, I could see no other customers except us that too during a perfect lunch time. We decided to go for a buffet. On the first sight we can easily see that nothing was prepared fresh. Everything was made days back and served. Food was tasting so worse and all half cooked and smelling so bad. we did not feel like eating anything and wanted to leave the place. The servers who keep looking so weirdly at us puts us much uncomfortable. They do sugar coated conversation to make us believe them. Do not believe them. When I wanted to use the restroom I noticed there is a huge hole at the top of the ceiling which is so unsafe restroom especially for ladies. Above all, two buffet was around 21$, I swiped my credit card and left the place. WHEN I SUPPOSED TO CHECK MY CREDIT HISTORY, SHOCKINGLY THEY HAVE CHARGED 25$, which is a huge fraudulent activity which I have the full rights to call police and cancel their license. VIA BANK OF AMERICA, Having the receipt with me, I got my 4$ back. Though, 4$ is not a big deal, still charging more than the actual bill is a crime. PLEASE AVOID THIS RESTAURANT IN ALL ASPECTS.

We will not return. We went to Flavors of India last weekend to try their buffet. When we paid for the meal with a $40 Flavors of India gift card, we were first told the gift card was too old. When I told the server it was bought 3 weeks ago, he returned and reported that the issue was being looked in to. Ten minutes later, the "managers" came out and explained that the restaurant under new ownership. When my husband asked how long ago, one of them responded with a giggle, "maybe last month." Aside from that unpleasantness, the food and service were fine. The weekend buffet offerings include your standard fare with a few Asian dishes -- goat curry, dal curry, chicken tikka masala, chow mein, sweet/sour chicken, tandoori chicken, nan, pickles, chopped fresh fruits, cucumber raita, tamarind and cilantro chutneys, sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, gulab jamun and carrot halwah. I would advise against purchasing gift cards from this place.

Ok, so the outside looks a little dingy and drab and the inside is nothing to write home about either, but the food itself is well worth the visit. The servers are excellent and are very helpful in helping you pick out foods you might enjoy depending on your taste and the food itself will leave you craving for more the next day. The menu itself is terrific with a lot of detail of the food. In the past I found that some menus were vague about what exactly is part of the meal but theirs is very good. The food can be ordered mild, medium or spicy and medium has a pretty good kick to it, but not enough to leave you begging for water or anything like. The only downside is that they dont have liquor (but they do have beer) or wine BUT there is a liquor store across the street that if you want you can go buy a bottle wine and and bring it in. Excellent restaurant!

I chose this restaurant for lunch because of all the great reviews, but I was completely disappointed! Firstly, their waiter was late, so the other staff had to fill in. We got there and the staff was not ready for us. Not all the food or dishes were out, and there was no one there to seat us when we got there. Once the waiter arrived, the service was still slow and we had to wait a long time for absolutely everything. In addition, many of the dishes they brought out were dirty! As far as the food was concerned, we went there for the lunch buffet. There was a limited selection and all the food was very mild. There was no selection of spicy dishes, and the honeydew melon was sour and inedible. I will not be returning to this restaurant.
