Went on a 15 mile hike with our Boy Scout Troop yesterday and thought we would stop at this small town ice cream shop for a treat. We decided not to go to our normal spot just up the road. We will walk the extra next time. They are slow at taking orders. Once mine was taken for a few boys, my friend was waiting to order for a few others. The woman behind the counter told her she would be right with her. Another "local" walked in and asked the woman behind the counter if she could take her order and she proceeded to call the customer by her name and took this ladys order. My friend was very upset and asked the woman behind the counter why she did that and her response was not as expected, she said she didnt realize she was there in front of the other customer. No apology just didnt realize. My friend asked for an apology and the lady told her she was not owed one. After taking the order the woman behind the counter told my friend she wanted to talk to her and proceeded to show her one of her legs. Not to dwell on it but this has nothing to do with waiting on another customer 1st simply because she is a local. Still no apology. I asked the lady if she owned the shop and she said her son did. I proceeded to tell her that she should feel lucky this was an established business because being in customer service all my life I would think this would have been better. She then informed me it was not my concern. It not only was my concern because the boys were there it was my concern because I too am a customer. Her husband proceeded to approach me and ask what the problem was. I told him then he spoke very loudly and said he too had been in customer service. I told him it is unfortunate that I love Granville and frequent this town for the atmosphere but will not be back. Then he came very close speaking louder telling me it is my choice and if I had a problem I should contact the owners as I told him this clearly would not change since the owner is his son. From other reviews here I can tell that if given a bad review they are immediately on the defense when clearly if someone takes the time to write a review at that point they are not looking for a smart come back. This type of customer service is what gives small towns such as Granville the names they get. Very arrogant for wanting to make a name for themselves.

Just read the owners responses to the negative reviews, should be all the info you need to not waste your time. Dear owner, Perhaps you shouldve paid more attention when you were taught morals, ethics, and general business principals, assuming of course you were properly informed before starting a business. Let me help you, building a small business relies heavily on referrals, in fact some of the largest companies out there today still rely on referrals. Dont be fooled into thinking your cheeky responses will get a laugh out of a prospect customer. The point of reviews, is to inform future customers on whether or not your establishment is worth their time and hard earned money. This does not mean you have to kiss up to the negative reviews, but simply acknowledge their criticism, be thankful for the feedback and grow from it; this is what builds a good and successful business. If youre unwilling to accept critisim, then you might as well pack up and shut down before youre forced to with too much overhead and not enough money to cover it. I really hope you as grow as a human, and that your business continues successfully. Highering young people is a great way to build the community, and your bottom line, but you have a moral obligation to them to teach them responsibility and grace, as well as the importance of restaurant cleanliness. Prove me wrong, respond in a respectful manner, and let the community know your vision.

Been going here since I was in elementary school (when it was under the original owner) and even though I dont live nearby anymore, I make it a point to stop by for a shredded chicken sandwich or a banana split if Im in town. Ive seen many staff changes; some of whom provided excellent service, others who did not but Ill keep coming back because its never that terrible. I have had to wait awhile to get helped but when its summertime I expect it (everyone wants ice cream when its 90 degrees outside). They recently went through an ownership change and from what Ive experienced so far, they have kept the best staff from before. I foresee many more visits this season...

Girl who was running the cash register took our money then without washing her hands or wearing gloves started preparing our food. I asked her not to touch my food without wearing gloves and she just stared blankly at me. The other employees working didnt seem to care either. I ended up throwing it away. Will not return ever! Unclean and uncaring.

Soft serve deliciousness. Small place, but has a couple tables. $4.50 Banana Split and $4.25 Strawberry Shortcake (I did mine with chocolate instead of vanilla). 4 of us and we each enjoyed it. They also have food, but we only got the fried mushrooms and they were good as well. Will visit again next time we roll through.

Love knuckleheads! Long time Granville resident and Patron of knuckleheads, not sure how it could have gotten any better from the previous owner but somehow the Warners have stepped up to the plate and hit a homerun! Keep up the good work! Marks the best cook in the world! Brett

Just got a "blizzard" , the little blond gal took my order, never said thank you, just a minute, nothing. I stood there while she made the "blizzard", she plunked it down on the counter in front of me and walked away... not a word. Very off putting.

Great ice cream, and the best corn dogs. Staff members are not the most concerned with customer experience, theyre not awful to where Ill stop going, but their attitudes are keeping it at a 4.

A vanilla/chocolate twist cone is our favorite. My parents love the shredded chicken sandwich too. Definitely worth the trip!! Locally owned and operated and proud to support the new owners.
