The new restaurant is worthy of five stars. Go if you havent been. Great food in a beautiful atmosphere. I frequent the place and am rating it 4 stars based on 2 factors. The refried beans are disgusting and the service was not the most friendly. UPDATE: Recently went back with a large party and WOW! They sure know how to make their guests feel valued. They immediately sat us at the best table in the house and brought a round of shots for my good friends birthday. The food was excellent, I ordered the huarache fajitas with pineapple. I really enjoy pollo tropical and el chavo this is the best of both in fajitas form. The beans were much better this time as well. Service was great they were more than generous given the occasion and we were well taken care of. Would be keeping my rating at 4 stars because their front door handle is broken, the soap dispensers in the bathroom are not hooked up, and they placed 2 additional trash cans in the mens when they have one built in to the counter. These 2 additional were overflowing and an eyesore. But I can deal with these minor details when everything else is done so perfect!

I definitely recommend sitting outside if the weather is nice, they have a wonderful covered outdoor patio. I never go all out when I go here... I tend to just order from the sides because I get exactly what I want and it keeps the cost down... that way I can get their awesome octopus margarita! I just recently went with a friend and we had a wonderful time. Our drinks arrived in no time and the food arrived shortly after. We were actually surprised by how quickly our food was served. We also received a complimentary cheese dip for the chips (most likely an extra order), but it was delicious (and free)! After dinner, we were both stuffed, but the main reason we had gone out was to get churros, so we ordered one to share. I was hesitant because the Tres Portillos in Fairlawn had a disappointing churro dessert. Not Medina. It was AMAZING. We ate half of it, despite being full, because it was just sooo good. I highly recommend it, so long as they keep the same custard-filled churros with vanilla ice-cream that has strawberry and chocolate topping. So good. I really recommend this particular restaurant.

I hate writing reviews. But this was absolutely awful my brother sister in law and their 3 kids and myself went to the one in montrose Sunday January 30th at 3 pm maybe 6 others tables had people at them. It all started when it took our waiter 15 minutes to come take our drink order we never received utensils till we caught a second waiter walking by and asked him for them we had chips at our table we finished those before we even received our drinks after he brought drinks to us he immediately took our food order which is great 25-30 minutes later we recived our food and we didnt see him again till it was time for the bill. We asked to speak to the manager when the manager came over he didnt speak a lick of English so outlr waiter came with him... we had 2 Groupon 15 for 30 dollars in food so we told them that we would call it even and they took both Groupons they agree and then as we were walking out the door our waiter yelled that we had a 30 dollar bill to pay! We argued and paid the bill and left but just find it shady that they agreed to one thing but did another!

For my money and tastebuds. I have yet to find a better Mexican restaurant in the Akron-Cleveland area. On first visit, I was actually headed to Don Pablos a few doors away. Their lot was empty, & the Tres Potrillos lot showed business was good. (Don Pablos has since folded at that location) I was elated to find that their sauces are made from scratch which is obvious from the flavor. I first had the mole. Sabroso! I have been here several times now, ordering something different each time, and the food has always been fast, hot, and mas authenticas! No canned food here! As a former chef and having lived and worked in Southern California & Texas, I am quite familiar with Tex-Mex and Mexican foods - again, what struck me about Tres Potrillos was the authentic flavors. Admittedly, the decor is a bit frugal, but warm in tone. It might feel a little more welcoming with the help of an interior decorator. However, the place is clean and efficient. Sorry, but I have never tried the margaritas as I always order cervesa. Next time.

I wish there was a rating below one star. Top-shelf gold margaritas came out the color of water and had less alcohol than my Evian. Im not sure how a cook can screw up Rancheras but they did. Somehow they removed that savory pork taste from pork. My girlfriend ordered a plate of enchiladas, they came greasy and soggy, covered in her salad, with little filling, and poorly prepared. We brought this up to the waiter when he took away her still full plate and he didnt do anything to make it right, just took it away. When I mentioned it to the woman at the register, she proceeded to argue with me and tell me that "no one ever complains about our food." Well honey, here I am. Hopefully I can save someone else from wasting their time/stomach. We left disgusted and disappointed. There isnt much in the way of Mexican fare in Fairlawn, after going to Tres Potrillos we realize there is even less. Take the time to go to El Rincon in Akron, Mariachis in Cuyahoga Falls or Green, or El Jalepenos in Barberton.

C. Thanks.
Food was pretty expensive, but big enough to share. I would recommend that for sure. the food is delicious and FRESH. get the pitch of Lime tequila mix LOL(margaritas) little sour but will get you waisted. QUICK. DO NOT DRINK IT ALONE! staff is very fast, efficient, attentive, little cold but friendly. I dont like when they crawl up my *** though so I was good with it. was never thinking, where is the waiter? Next time I will share a meal and pitcher. NO NEED TO BUY 2, I was taken back by the price of the food.. not sure how to put it.. wasnt l steak house price quality food but it was charged as so.. dont get me wrong its NOT BAD food. Huge restaurant though.. maybe thats why? to pay for there rent. Over pouring helped me want to go back. Packed but we didnt have to wait because it was such a big restaurant.

We stumbled upon Tres Potrillos several years ago by accident and have been back time and time again. Nestled between chain restaurant after chain restaurant, Tres Potrillos offers a bevy of originality to the Fairlawn/Montrose area. Aside from tremendous authentic food, the restaurant offers distinctive cocktails (including the "Octapus" - my favorite, a blend of frozen Sangria and Margarita) and a newly remodeled, impressive bar. You will not be disappointed by Tres Potrillos. I felt compelled to write this review after I read Tenilles less than favorable write up on google. While I will agree that the service is *somewhat* hit or miss (after 20 or so visits, Ive only had one less than exceptional experience), chances are you will have a great experience. Give Tres Potrillos a try.
