I have loved this restaurant for a couple of years now, but it seems that they are taking a turn for the worse as times passes. The Generals chicken used to be succulent and delicious with the best sauce around. The sauce is still good, but now the chicken is very hard and crunchy sometimes. I say sometimes because this isnt usually the case when I pick up something for lunch. I believe the cook is double frying the chicken to cut costs and this is reflected in the food. I now try not to order my favorite because its too risky. If they would just go back to preparing the food fresh and tossing out older food (instead of trying to recycle it and hiding it under awesome sauce), Id eat there more often. I guess Ill be going back to Mark Pis.

Just had Chicken Almond Ding from China Star. (Have had it about 3 times.) Wonderful! Hard to find. Its a white sauce, white chicken cubes, celery, water chestnuts, no breading dish. Wonderful with white rice (normally prefer fried). Plus wonton soup. Great broth, meat packed noodles. Only thing I will ask for next time is green onions in the soup. although the flavor was great without them. Nice rich broth. Way, way above others. Nice family-owned.

Yet another Chinese take out joint. Its set up like a small deli without any tables. The General Tso was not good enough to make me want to come back for more but thats just me. Maybe youll have a different experience. I probably should give them another try but theres a better place in the area so why bother.

The pricing and presentation are about average. What I like about China Star over other Chinese takeout places Ive been to is the service. The owners are very nice, and helpful. The few times that Ive had a larger order, they were always ready before the e.t.a. they gave me.
