I love LockViews food so much, its been one of my favorite places to eat since it opened. The food is great and the alcohol selection is always really good. I have to say though, the service here has never been great. It started out okay, and Ive always gotten at least lukewarm and attentive enough service. But last night I was very disappointed with my experience. The name on the check said Morgan, but I have no idea if that was actually the servers name or not because she didnt introduce herself, she just started out with, "The kitchen closes in a half an hour." It was about 10:20 when we got there... I would understand if it was like 5 minutes until the kitchen closed, but 1/2 hour is plenty of time to order food and be in and out without a sever getting an attitude... That kind of set the mood for the rest of the interaction. So after we sit down and order, the food came in like less than 5 minutes which was awesome. Food was great as always, but after the runner dropped off our food, the server didnt check back on us to see if everything was okay or ask if we needed drinks. Three other tables sat down to eat after us (ha) and she gave them the same quick, curt service letting them all know she was annoyed with having to serve more people. My fiancé and I waited so long for our second drinks that we went up to the bar to get them ourselves. She noticed that and finally came over and put in the order for us. Then she brought us the check before she brought us our drinks and said, "Table service ends at eleven." Then about 5 mins after we got our check, a barback ran our drinks to us... Suffice to say we were not happy. From now on it would probably serve us better to just order to go and skip the dining service.

Maybe I got old. I knew this location as both the Lime Spider and the seedy little place known as Bilbos, famous for nothing but being next door to Akron U, when nothing was down here but the peanut store. I really used to love the Lime Spider and the live music and swore Id never go to the "grown up" bar that was rumored to be the new look. Well, looks like I got old, because I now love this place. I like coming in for a good, craft draft beer and not dealing with the college kids pounding yager and corona. I like sitting up on the roof and listening to lock 3 concerts and deciding if the perfect afternoon calls for one more Thirsty Dog or just an arrogant Bastard. I like having a crusty chicken sandwich so good it makes my leg start to work like a hound dog, having squirrel dreams. I especially love those half priced priced fried mashed potato appetizer things, even if I always feel un-rustbelt for saying croquettes. All served up by one of the best bartenders in Akron, who knows her beer, unlike the usual chain wing and beer emporium tender. Oh and the last thing? No never-ending ESPN running on a dozen televisions in your ear. Someone finally realized were not all looking to watch the game, but would rather have a good talk or listen to the juke (which for once isnt that plastic ever present wallbox). Atmosphere? Old wood and a long bar, that isnt just faux-irish chain restaurant schtick. Nice and clean enough for a first date, without making you feel uncomfortable in jeans and a tee. My only gripe is they need to knock down a wall and open up some extra tables.

Today me, my sister in law and our kids were treated terribly at The Lockview restaurant in Akron. We were at the Akron Childrens Museum and asked for a kid friendly place to go to for lunch they recommend The Lockview restaurant ( disclaimer I dont think the museum would have recommended them if they knew how they treat people with kids). When we walked in the manager said to us the wait is 20 minutes are you sure you want to wait, you can just go next door. Well next door was a taco place that our kids wouldnt eat at. The wait wasnt 20 minutes it was more like 5. She was just trying to get us not to eat there. Once we were seated within minutes she told us that this place is a place for business people to eat lunch and we needed to be quiet. Then 10 minutes later she came to our table looked at my 3 year old and said "be quiet". She then said do they need crackers but never came back with any. My sister in law went to talk to her before we left and she was even more rude. My sister in law told her how one of my sons has sensory processing disorder and the lady said she has a kid with special needs and doesnt bring him out in public. That I shouldnt bring my kid out. Then my sister in law said the museum recommended for us to eat there and she said she doesnt want business from the museum. The sad thing is my 3 year old told me lady is mean. He understood the lady was being mean to him. I will never return there!!

Very good. It is similar to Melt, but the sandwiches are of a more reasonable size and there are not as many millenials hanging out. My usual order is the Number 7, which has tomatoes, basil, and fresh gouda. I like how the gouda is not fully melted. It makes the sandwich more original and goes better with the other toppings this way. Ive had several other grilled cheese sandwiches as well and they are all good (except one that I was not very fond of, but not every type of food is for everyone). The sandwiches are served with Goldfish crackers, which I find to be odd, but you can get fries or tater tots for a small up-charge. Lockview has a huge craft beer list - you probably cant find a more extensive list in all of Akron. Their mixed drinks are delicious as well. The servers are very friendly and helpful, and are willing to answer all of my questions about various menu items, even though I have been told by my dining companions that I can be annoying. The rooftop patio offers a great view of Akron and a unique dining experience.

Maybe we were just lucky, but this was one of the best meals Ive had out in ages! My husband and I scored a parking spot right in front, were seated right away, and the grilled cheese was SO GOOD. Please know when you read this, I have been to many restaurants, and I dont give praise easily. In fact I wanted to grab dinner tonight, but didnt want to come here as my husband suggested. He said they had grilled heese that was rumored to give "melt" a run for its money. Im not a fan of melt so much. We came here though. I ordered the #13 with dill havarty and artichoke on rye. My husband the #12- mashed potatoes, american etc. Mine was magical. So yummy. The flavors just melted together, and the the sandwich size was just right vs other places where the sandwich is huge and hard to eat. In addition the grilled cheese menu offers plenty choices for the vegetarian, or meatless Friday. The number 12 was yummy too just right. Flavorful. The atmosphere was delightful as well as the candle on the table. This was a treat!
