Came here for the Moravian cookies. They were excellent. Very thin and tasted delicious. It is on the pricy side but we bought the easter egg cookies, so they were at a discounted price. Another thing to try here are the sugar cake. You get a HUGE piece, almost the size of a sheet of paper. It costs about $5 but you can easily split it between 3 people. I shared it with one other person and I didnt feel like I was overwhelmed with sugar by the end. I definitely recommend those two items and would recommend coming here again. Nothing special about the other shops that you have to buy a ticket to go into. I think the tickets are overpriced and its only a few shops spanning maybe 2 blocks. Not much to see. Just skip those things and just go to bakery. Your money will wont be wasted!

We enjoy seeing the old bakery and it was interesting for the kids, but Im not sure about the baked goods. We visited at Christmas and bought individual sized goods, and my daughter became really sick (vomiting) we simply threw away the items we had bought because it didnt seem fresh. We decided that they may not sell enough goods to keep a fresh supply and although we will visit again, we will not buy any of the baked items.

Best fresh Moravian specialties. I am biased since i work for the museum but this is the 1800 bakery where they still bake in a brick oven. Free paper thin ginger cookies to sample, also get sugar cake. Gets busy in December and sometimes with school groups but is not a big space so line isnt too slow even when filled. Packaged items (e.g. tubes of cookies or cheese bites) available else where in our stores.

Adorable place, great old time home made baked goods! Prices are steep but food is very high quality with natural ingredients and handcrafted techniques. The sugar cake is what is famous here and sells out super fast so get there early for that. Other cakes, such as the apple is great and cant go wrong with the Moravian cookies!

My kids and I love to stop here for a block of fudge, a sheet of sugar cake, a pack of cookies, or my girlfriends favorite - cinnamon buns. It isnt just that the bakery looks old, its that they use the same old techniques for making the delicious goods! This bakery is highly recommended by me (and the kids).

Wonderful selection of home made breads and pastries. Just standing and breathing in the baking smells was worth the visit. Ended up purchasing more than we intended. Very friendly and helpful staff dressed in the style of Old Salem.

Here is what you need to know. Get a homemade cookie sandwich, sugar cake, fresh bread, samples, samples, samples and of course some of the ginger cookies. Also, just tried the coconut macaroons which are delightful!
