I stopped going here completely. I was a very frequent regular for a long time but then one day that changed. I actually was served my food and as I ate noticed a wadded up order ticket in my food. Someone must have thrown it in the kitchen and it missed the can or something. I didnt pitch a fit but I did calmly complain. Instead of an apology I got treated like I was totally over reacting. Afterwards we never saw another soul. The waitress never once came back to refill drinks or anything. We had to chase down another waitress just to get our bill. Because of that we did not tip. I never ever stiff a wait person. That was the only time in my life I have ever done so. And it was because of the lack of service, not the gross food as that wasnt her fault. Well I figured wed give them a second chance and went back. The owner actually stopped me in the entryway and verbally attacked me for not tipping on the last visit. I explained to her that the lack of tip was because we were given no service at all. The waitress vanished and we never saw her again. That doesnt deserve a tip. She didnt do her job. What angered me the most is that we ate there for so long and we ALWAYS tipped. Every time. If I were the owner and a regualar customer suddenly didnt tip I would certainly figure they didnt get good service and my concern would the the customers satisfaction above all else. I have never been confronted like that by a business owner and I found it to be the most unprofessional and rudest experience I have ever had. I was floored they would act that way to a customer. I have never been back nor has any of my family.

We used to go to West End Cafe a lot when I was younger and I loved it. Back then I thought it was a chill atmosphere, even at a young age haha. Their waiting area outside consists of benches that go with the flow of the pathway to get up to the door. Those benches back up to a small pond. We visited the other day and I wasnt really impressed with the food. Atmosphere, again, was still pretty chill. They had candles going at each table which makes for an intimate setting when the sun goes down because its a smaller restaurant. We heard some Red Hot Chili Peppers & nine inch nails come out of the speakers which was a definite bonus! Then for food...disappointed. I ordered a Reuben with pastrami/corned beef meat combo which came like usual on rye bread with thousand island dressing & sour kraut. The sandwich was $10 so Im expecting a darn good sandwich because I can drive 10 minutes from my house to a "local (to my county)" restaurant & pay $6 for one thats very delicious. Well the rye bread tasted nice by its self. I do believe the sour kraut overwhelmed the whole sandwich. Im not saying it was bad, I just wont order it again. My boyfriend ordered the Carolina burger which he deemed "pretty good". It was a larger sized burger with chili, mustard, slaw and onions. Service was fair. We both had water and were sitting near the service station but ran out of water basically the whole time there. I was really hoping to get the hot bacon dressing because I LOVED IT when I was younger...it slipped my mind..happens with old age haha.

After reading others reviews we were highly anticipating eating here our first time, and are very disappointed. We wont be back. Food: My husband and I agreed that the flavors of the food are not in balance. For example, my Reuben ($8.25) had a very small amount of meat with loads of cheese and sauerkraut. There was not enough meat to measure up to the other ingredients, or for the money. (Jasons Deli is much better and costs less.) My husbands What-A-Dog ($5.75) consisted of a regular sized wiener on a huge hoagie bun with enough toppings for 4 or 5 regular hot dogs. He kept eating bread and slaw, onions, relish, and other stuff until he finally got to the itty bitty weeny. The fries were dark brown and overcooked. From the vantage point of being near the kitchen, we could see other food going out, and we did not think portion sizes match the prices. For example, salads looked very small. Service: Service was lacking and our waitress was a bit snippy. She never did bring our change and then disappeared. We waited and finally left without it. Ambiance: The dining room was attractive but we ate near the kitchen where we found it to be noisy with high traffic. Above all, it was my birthday lunch. sob :( We definitely will NOT go back.

I use to think this was a beautiful Restaurant....I loved to sit in the window and look out at the pond and the atmosphere was great. Me and My best friend in the whole world stopped in to eat after having a really bad month of hurtles after hurtles not to mention some serious financial budgeting put in place decided to treat ourselves to my favorite spot....SO we ordered and the food was great as usually and the food came up to $23 and some change so I just left all that I had in my wallet which was $24.....I know that waitresses work hard but this just isnt any mom and pop diner its pretty high end I would say and people should leave a tip if they can but I am not obligated to and I should not be made to feel guilty about. So I get up make it to my car and here comes this lady not even the waitress running behind me with the money screaming you 2 have a great day dripping with sarcasm embarrassing me in the parking lot......I will never go back as long as I live and to make matters worse I was going to call back to complain and express how I feel and it was one of the owners so what do you do then......smh

When I walked in from the cold earlier this evening, I was greeted warmly by everyone at WestEnd Cafe. I really do mean warmly, I felt like family, like... people were genuinely happy I was there. It was amazing. I got takeout but Id bet the dine-in service is excellent. I ordered a sandwich and soup and man was it good! Maybe not Michelin good but good in the way you want your dinner to be when your toes are frozen. I look forward to my next visit, and hopefully an entree next time. I cant recommend WestEnd Cafe highly enough to someone who wants to feel like a regular, even if its their first time.

This is a reliable eatery and bar where the staff is good, the atmosphere is welcoming and pleasant, and the food is always very well planned and prepared. They have been in the business long enough to know who they are and what works for their menu. I love their chili. Their salads are generous, fresh, and great. Entree items are easy to like and build a satisfying habit enjoying. The beverage of your choice added and an ever-changing desert assure a satisfying eating experience.

Terrible service overshadows great food. Everything tastes amazing, but every time Ive gone, Ive had BAD problems with the service. Everything from losing our reservation for eight people (then berating us for not having a reservation TWICE and making us stand in the cold) to the waitress assuming that I wanted to give her all of my change as a tip, and refusing to bring it to me when asked. Its a shame, the food is so good, but the people behind it are so BAD.
