We purchased the Living Social deal for a two-night stay at the Waynesville Inn Golf Resort and Spa. $179.00 for two nights, including breakfast for two both days AND a $50.00 gift card to use anywhere on the premises. This was truly a fabulous deal. So, we ventured out that way this past weekend. The area the Inn resides doesnt do it much justice. Definitely an older, less maintained part of town. But, just a few short miles away is a quaint, small-town atmosphere offering fabulous shopping (The Classic Wine Seller - charming!), eateries, and outdoor activities available (Lake Junaluska - great 3 mile hike around a moutainous lake!). Also, the Cherokee casino and Asheville are a short 40 minute drive away. We found the Staff at the Inn to be the most-friendly and helpful. 5-Stars, by far. :) The Inn, itself, is an older, more rustic place to stay. Perfect atmosphere for the mountains. The room we stayed in was older and it was not pictured on their web site. (Be aware, there are two different areas of the hotel that you could stay in: newer, more modern or older, more rustic.) Our room had older fixtures (lights, faucets, bed frame etc). Albeit, I was not expecting such a dated room, but it was suitable for what we needed that weekend and, most importantly, VERY clean. 5-stars to the Housekeeping staff, as well. The regular room rate is $179.00 per night. Our particular room, in our opinion, would not be worth that kind of money. However, using the Living Social deal, it was well worth it. The Tap Room restaurant was decent, at best. Definitely not 5-stars, but had decent sandwiches and pizza. We did have an issue with one of the staffers at the Tap Room being a bit snotty and less than outgoing, which we took up with Management. They responded very promptly. I think we were just shocked by over-the-top customer service at the Inn, then less than suitable customer service practically under the same roof at the Tap Room. Again, they handled it promptly. We ate the continental breakfast at the Cork and Cleaver each morning. They had an omelet station with it. It was good. Regarding the "Spa", we arranged to have a Couples Rendezvous Massage (hour and a half). When we think of a Spa, we think of a lavish place to slip away for a short time and relax away from the rest of the world. This is not the case at the Waynesville because you can hear the rest of the world right outside the door. Personally, their current "Spa" should NOT be advertised as a Spa at all. The "Spa" consisted of two rooms on the second floor - in the older part of the hotel - that were decorated in tranquil colors etc. The massage therepists were really great and we felt fantastic afterwards. However, throughout most of the massage, we heard people in the hallway laughing, doors slamming, and at one point a walkie-talkie going off etc... (The hallways in the older wing are very close quarters, very narrow and each room, having older fixtures, also had older wooden doors that didnt close slowly). We understand that a new Spa is being renovated and will open later this year, but having paid $295.00 for a Couples Massage experience - it truly was not worth the cost in its current state. Overall, we would visit again, but perhaps with our expectations being a little different for a place labeled as a "Resort" and "Spa." Again, two thumbs up on the Staff. They know how to do things right. :)

Ive stayed here twice and both visits were satisfactory but the last trip earned a 3-star review. Check-in was easy and friendly. Depending on which building you end up staying in your visit will have a different level of experience. The breakfast buffet is plentiful and the servers are very friendly and laid back. The food is of mass produced catering quality, neither great nor terrible. In our most recent trip we stayed in the Fairway building which is older and a little more run down that the main building. The room featured an old tube TV and had no fan in the bathroom, both of which really surprised me. For the bathroom, it has a heater on a timer which acts as a fan, but the idea of having to use the bathroom in the summer with heat blasting down your back is shockingly absurd. It seems like a nice feature for the winter but at least disengage it for the rest of the year. Also, their wifi is TERRIBLE. Very poor coverage and slow connection speed. Furthermore you have to type in the password to connect to each individual hotspot, depending on which one has the strongest strength relative to your location, using a WEP encryption system, which makes for a 10-digit password (fairly easy to remember but still.... WEP? REALLY?) I had to connect manually to 6 different hotspots, none of which reached into my room well enough to use. After a half hour of trying I eventually gave up and used my mobile data for the rest of the trip. Any decent IT consultant could set them up with a state-of-the-art Ubiquiti system for the price of a one week stay. Overall I would go back since it has a convenient location and the main complaints are all First World problems, but for the amount of $ they bring in ALL of these issues should be easy and obvious fixes.

We throughly enjoyed our stay. We are attentive travelers and foodies, so we notice every detail. Our goal was a short juant for relaxation, quality time, rest and to disconnect from work, home and others. The Inn provided a great environment to meet our goal. The staff was courteous and informative from the multiple phone inquiries we made till the day we checked out. Chris and Corey were always available to assistant, very professional. The food was fresh and delicious--we thoroughly enjoyed the full hot breakfast buffet with good ol creamy southern grits. Thanks to LeJuana and other breakfast, lunch and dinner staff. The tavern bar and grill had delicious, hearty, hot sandwiches at very reasonable prices. The spa was stupendous--the accomodated our request to service us on their day off--shot out to Amanda--one of the top 3 massage therapists Ive ever had from America to Asia. Amanda was #1 in my husbands lifetime.

We had our wedding at the Inn and it was very beautiful. There were some issues with timing for the catering, but that was probably our fault. The food was delicious! And the staff was really nice. Liz was super helpful getting everything organized for the wedding. We stayed in the bridal suite, which was a very nice, spacious room. My only concerns were with the lack of room service (even though we paid A LOT of money to be there, and it was our wedding night) and how difficult it was to get in touch with the staff. I must have called five times before the front desk answered the phone. Then they couldnt even answer my question, and I was redirect to the cork and cleaver restaurant. After about five or six times with no answer still we finally gave up on getting our question answered.

We have been coming to Waynesville to stay and golf for over a decade. They have undergone a lot of changes in those years but one thing has remained consistent: great service and friendly staff. this is why we come back. The prices are fair and the inn is quaint and very laid back. We love the combination of rustic atmosphere and upscale accommodations. You can choose your experience. Even though Fairway is a bit outdated we usually choose it for its location. The golf course it fine, again we appreciate that it is well cared for and laid back. My 5 stars is base don the vlaue and the service, in my opinion you cant do much better.
