I saw these recent terrible reviews and thought I needed to clear some things up. As someone who has been to Pearl AT LEAST 100 times, I have never smelled anything in the restaurant that was a atypical of a take-out Chinese place. Perhaps a little stuffy toward the kitchen, but there is no "kennel smell." Typical hater. The place isnt spotless but this is an old establishment and looks so. It is clean; the floor simply looks a bit washed out from age. Also, referring to the "slow service": Ive always been quoted 10-15 minutes and have NEVER waited any longer. I cant tell you how many times they bring it out in 5-7 minutes. Haters gonna hate I guess. Getting to the actual review, the food is well above average for cheap Chinese. The person who thinks Golden Dragon on Hillsborough is superior has no taste whatsoever. Have you ever tried the rice at Golden Dragon? Its terrible whereas at Pearl the white rice is exceptional given the price and the pork fried rice is good. Do yourself a favor and try a Chao Nian Gao variant if you want something less Americanized than Sesame or General Tsos chicken or the like. Finally, contradictory to what was said on here or Yelp, there IS an online menu on the Pearl website, which if you cant find, frankly you dont deserve the inexpensive, reliable and tasty experience that is Pearl Chinese.

This dine-in or take-out Chinese restaurant has the absolute best food anywhere around. I have never found a more courteous, efficient restaurant with deliciously (and always correctly) prepared meals at a very reasonable rate - not even mentioning the generous portion size that leaves opportunities for leftovers, a real budget booster!. My favorite item is actually their fried rice[s]. They include so many yummy vegetables in there, definitely more than a meager portion some other Chinese restaurants include. It is delicious every time without fail! I would highly recommend this eatery to everyone!

Ive only gotten chicken dishes here, so I cannot speak for the whole menu, but its about as good as you would hope for from a cheap chinese place. The food is pretty good and a decent size for the price. The guy that works there is always polite and gets the food out pretty quick. I do question the fact that there are live turtles that live in the dining area in an enclosed area on the floor full of water. That doesnt seem like it would pass an sanitation inspection, but if youre okay with looking the other way the food is pretty good and its convinient.

Ive been eating at this place since college days, thats about 15 years. Even though were now about 20 minutes away we still come back when we want great Chinese food. The chicken and broccoli is my favorite. The veggies are well cooked yet remain crisp. The sauces are well flavored, but nothing crazy. The rice is consistently good whether you get plain white or pork fried. The portions are generous. The family that runs the place is always eager to serve.

Seriously, The Best Chinese in Raleigh. Huge selection of food from american Chinese to meals I cant even begin to pronounce right. Extremely reasonable prices with literally 10 Min or less wait times when it comes receiving your order. Been going here for 3Yrs now & Ive never ever been disappointed. Staff is always smiling and polite to customers. You should go now & always refer this place to your friends.

I did not like the fried rice and everything there had a strange taste. I got the sesame chicken and chicken lo mein and neither one tasted very good to me. I have been there twice because I thought I should give it another chance but both times I barely could eat the food. The restaurant itself has large tanks of water that are absolutely filthy and the entire place is very dark.

Ive been eating Pearl for at least 6 years and it has never disappointed me. The food is consistently good and the staff is always smiling. Its so nice to have a place that you know what you will get and you know you will be satisfied. They recently added an authentic line of Cantonese soups Im looking forward to trying!

My husband and I used to live near Pearl and would go all the time. We have since moved to Cary and still drive to get their excellent food. The seseme beef is our favorite, though I have to say that everything we have tried there is far better than any other Chinese restaurant in the area.

Based on other reviewers, I drove half an hour to get food from this restaurant. I have never had more bland food ever. It was so bad. My chicken was grayish from inside. I just threw the whole dish away. What a disappointment. You can get better Chinese food from practically anywhere else.

Got a lunch special and was pleased. The lo mein was piping hot and just enough grease. The fried rice though could use a bit of help. It has peas in it, if that bothers you. Inside is very nice, much nicer than your average take out place. And the pet turtles are super cute!

The Pearl is by far the best value in Chinese takeout youll find in Raleigh. They use quality meat in all their dishes, none of the spongy, soft centered junk you find at the other restaurants. Generous portions, consistently great food, and friendly staff. A+

I eat at Pearl all the time, and its the most reliably good Chinese place around. Sure, the place isnt a palace on the inside...but the food is consistently delicious and theres a solid variety of dishes. Try the Kung Pao Chicken.

The food was good. However, this place smelled like an absolute kennel. Had to be one of the most unsanitary places Ive ever seen services g food. I almost couldnt bear the smell of it long enough to pick up my food. Never again

The Pearl has it all. The "Americanized" Chinese i.e.,General Tso, the best in the area (dont bother with China queen or anything adjacent to NCSU) and their authentic cuisine is amazing. 10/10 with or without rice.

This used to be my go to Chinese restaraunt but the past two times Ive been Ive been disappointed. Both times I had meals with chicken that tasted and smelled rancid. Probably going to give this place a break.

The dishes here are hit or miss. Mongolian Tofu has been one of the best things Ive gotten from here. If youre willing to look past the atmosphere (or lack thereof) and know what to get, this place is pretty decent.

Lightning fast service. If you want a take out, call them and itll be ready in 10 mins or less. Friendly and polite staff. They recently launched a reward program that could save you some money too. Will come back.

Ive been going for 10 years, hands down the best fast chinese in raleigh. However the last visit was crap. Ordered hot and spicy beef and it was nothing but onion and pepper. Almost no beef at all. Disappointing

Even though there are closer Chinese restaurants to me and they are all really, really good, I still go to this place every single time for Chinese food! This place is definitely the best by far in my opinion!
