We were delightfully surprised at how wonderful the food was at Szechuan Garden. We had not been impressed with the local Chinese food scene up until now but what a gem! Weve been lucky enough to have lived in places with great Szechuan food and were disappointed in the local fair until we ate here. The General Tsos chicken is wonderful as is the chicken in spicy garlic sauce with yummy fresh eggplant. Our super picky kids LOVE the low mein. Yes, they are sometimes short on wait staff and have occasionally gotten our order wrong BUT they are gracious about it and always make it right. The unique floor to ceiling ceramic murals on the walls add to the ambience, one wall depicts a rainbow of Chinese dragons and the other has beautiful chrysanthemums and peacocks, its sure to delight the young and old alike! Weve made this place a regular weekly event for our family.

This used to be my favorite place but now their dishes are so inconsistent. The food still tastes good but the meals are never the same. I order General Taos chicken and the last time they gave me the chicken they use for the orange chicken. Its heavily breaded and not what they typically use for the General Taos. This type of thing happens often. They tried to tell me they didnt do that but they did because Ive been eating it for years there. I think what happened was they had an over abundance of the type of chicken they use for the orange chicken so they used it in all chicken dishes. My husband gets a noodle dish which is also good but never the same. Due to the experience I had last time it will be a long time before I go back. When they are busy there is never enough servers and you can be sure something you ordered will be forgotten.

After reading Greg Coxxs review from the N&O and hearing great things about it, I finally dined at Szechuan Garden on Friday night. The decor is very nice with a beautiful mural of a peacock and ornate wooden sculptures between the tables behind the glass. There is also plenty of seating . The staff was extremely friendly in explaining the dishes and making a recommendation. I had the chicken cashew with vegetables and for the dinner combo, it comes with a choice of soup and egg roll or spring roll. The vegetables were very fresh and was presented on a pretty green plate with a side of rice. My plate was not extremely hot but that may have been because it was close to closing time. It was not cold but I just wanted it a tad hotter in temperature. You pay at the front and the prices for $12.95 dinner combo are great.

Ive been to Sechuan Garden tree times already, and each visit has been great! The first time Ive been there is lunch time. The lunch options are fantastic and only $6.95 with great portion. I went there twice at dinner time with my friends. weve had the Sechuan spicy noodle and dumplings with spicy chill oil as our appetizer. Then we ordered "squirrel tail like" Fish, Sechuan chicken with dry pepper, and Lamb with Cumin. They are all taste wonderful! Especially, the fish is my favorite. The fish is crispy and with kind of sweet and sour sauce and peas and carrot. It is obvious these dishes are made with fresh, quality ingredients, which makes me happy and keeps me coming back.

High quality, Fast and Cheap. The "holy trinity" of Chinese food. Packed at lunch but again, so fast you should be able to get a seat. Hard to turn left onto 54 coming out of this place. Parking is tough. But food is great. A once a week place if you work nearby. Id recommend asking for white meat chicken in the General Tsos or Orange chicken. Mongolian Chicken and Moo Shu Chicken are pleasant surprises. Soups are really good too.

Best Szechuan food in the area. The homemade spicy dumplings, Dan Dan noodles, eggplant boxes are terrific starters. Squirrel tail fish is amazing. Any dish with the spicy szechuan sauce is good. Ask for the off menu soup that has wonton like dumplings that are softer. Sorry guys, I dont know what it is called in Chinese.

Overall attentive and cheerful service has made this a once a week lunch destination for me and my colleagues in RTP. Love the spicy (and crispy!) orange chicken. Plenty of good lunch deals for under $10 (with soup and an eggroll). Made to order and theyll gladly add veggies to a meat dish for a small fee.

This is normally my favorite restaurant but tonight I ordered the same thing as usual and I dont know who the chef was but it has no chicken shrimp or beef not one piece. I only got rice in the dish. Got all the way home to Durham and am totally disappointed. Now they are closed and I am without dinner.

Authentic Chinese food. Dry pepper chicken, I have been looking for this all over. Not saucy, just spicy. I wasnt a fan of the jasmine hot tea but the menu was great, service quick, and the special menu written in Chinese only really lets you know the level of authenticity.

Eat here often for lunch, and rarely disappointed. Service friendly and fast...food tasty. Usually get kung pao chicken and unlike many Chinese restaurants, the chicken is tender and delicious. Spicy, but not overpowering. Good lunch prices as well.

Ive enjoyed this in the past when it was Orient Garden, and a lot looked the same this time. However, while my meal was decent, my wife said her sesame chicken was tough, and she also found a long hair in it. So, Im a bit discouraged by that.

Sesame chicken here is fantastic, lightly breaded, as it states in the menu, so it doesnt taste like youre eating mostly fried chunks of flour like most other Chinese versions of sesame chicken. Generous portions as well.

Gets VERY crowded near lunch. I ordered wonton soup and was given hot and sour soup. The hunan chicken was pretty disappointing as well, but many other dishes were good/fast/decently priced.

Best Chinese food I have had in NC. I work at RDU airport and have eaten here a few times and it has been delicious every time.

Great quality food for the price. Only thing I would change is whether or not you can get plain lo mein as a side.
