The restaurant is really cute inside, however the employees, management and service are terrible. The attitudes and customer service start from the top and the way the server, Michael treated our table is a reflection of how the management also treats their guests. We arrived and were told the wait would be 30 minutes. It took more than 45 minutes to be seated as we saw many tables being seated before us who arrived after our group. We also had two children join us for lunch unexpectadely and the manager told us they were unable to accommodate our party of 9. After we questioned them, he eventually "allowed" us to sit at the table. However, he made a big deal about needing "to find two more chairs," when there plenty not being occupied around the restaurant. After the meal, our server brought only 1 check without asking how 9 people wanted to split it. We tried to make it easy for him as write specifically which meal to charge to which card. Needless to say, he didnt like that very much and said, "it would have been easier if we told him before." Well, we would have if only he had asked. He continued to run the checks wrong 4 times at minimum and scolded us for trying to offer to explain which dish goes on which check. He was very rude and argued and yelled at the ladies at our table. It would have been much easier if he allowed us to help him divide the checks appropriately but he kept walking away and saying he knew what to do, but clearly he didnt. We were not surprised to be treated this way by our server after the manager was also extremely rude to us. Like I said its a cute place and the food is good, but the service and management are terribly rude. Im sure there are some great servers there, so just be sure to steer clear of Michael and the manager... I genuinely hope you have a better experience if you decide to go.

Lovely ambience for mid-morning, weekday breakfast. Reservations were easy to make on line and easy to adjust when that became necessary the morning of our visit. The greeters/seaters were friendly and efficient. Id even purchased a $15-off coupon from Groupon Coupon for just $9 (breakfast/lunch coupon), so all was looking good! Menu for lunch/breakfast is great & enticing; food itself, though, was just pretty good. Waiter was highly knowledgeable and very professional, though when servers presented the food (for four), they had no clue who should get what. Prices (based on menu) seemed high but not unreasonable, but total bill was a surprise. All four of us had declined the waiters enticing offer of a "specialty coffee," opting for "just plain coffee." We were not expecting a $3.25 per cup charge! Overall a good experience in a pleasant setting but comes at a fairly dear price. Dont forget to download a Groupon - the dinner coupon is usually for $30 off.

Me and my wife has the the pleasure of trying out this restaurant on 23 March 2017 because the menu looked inviting but once our food arrived the food was not appetizing nor tasted like French food. I stayed in France and has the pleasure of eating real French cusine, and I know that you cannot mix American with French and call it French food. First and foremost French food takes time and effort with real ingredients to prepare. Also, France has some of the best bread and pastries in the world. The bread was very hard, and the lobster and shrimp crepe was not like French crepe I ever had before but looked more like s*** on a shingle. We can and will not visit this restaurant in the future.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Charlotte. There are places that have slightly better food, slightly better service or slightly better prices, but Cafe Monte is the only one Ive found to do ALL of these at such a high level. They have an extensive menu along with nightly specials such as half-price wine, lobster, and all-you-can-eat mussels. There is live music weekly and recorded French classics set the mood when theres not a band in the corner. The owner is a great guy and wants his customers to be happy. Theres a small bar and a pastry case too. If you have a chance to go here, you will not be disappointed. Tip: Cafe Monte often has a discount on Groupon or Living Social.

My husband and I came here for brunch after hearing good things about this place. Though the restaurant was more than half empty when we arrived, the hostess sat us a table that was pushed so close to the bathroom door, we could hear the toilets and sinks running when someone went in and could feel the breeze from the door. When we asked our server if we could move to a different table, she was unfriendly and said it wasnt possible because "people with reservations" were coming in soon (which puzzled us, as wed had an OpenTable reservation too.) The food was okay, but pricey, and we didnt feel welcome there. I dont think well go back anytime soon.

I have become increasingly picky about the environment of restaurants. Its important to me to have privacy (not seated within arms reach of other tables, where you cant help but overhear them), to be able to hear my companions, to feel like I can take my time to enjoy the restaurant (not be rushed out the door), and Cafe Monte was excellent on all these subjects. The atmosphere is very nice; the staff was attentive but not invasive; the food was especially excellent. It wasnt difficult to get an early dinner reservation, and we had a wonderful time. I highly recommend, especially for the price.

We were invited by friends and am I ever glad we were. This place was awesome. A very nice atmosphere and the service & staff were excellent. The lady taking care of us was as good as weve ever had. All 4 of us had the beef short rib bourguignon and its the best Ive ever had. When the lady described the dish as "remember the pot roast your Mom made? This is better", she wasnt lying. The Smoked Salmon appetizer was also the best Ive ever had. Order those 2 menu items and I promise you will be glad you did. Im sure everything on their menu is equally as good. We are going back.

Went here for date night with my husband, specifically wanting to try the beef wellington, after seeing it done by Gordon Ramsey so much on tv. It is made in a single serving size, so it looks different than what you see on tv. The wellington was good but we also split a rissoto, which it was also our first time having. That was absolutely delicious! Service was great, carrot cake for dessert was also good, my only complaint was I think the beef Wellington was overpriced for how much food you got. Overall, great experience and we will go back again!

Underwhelmed. We went for a Sunday brunch and were shock when our omelette arrived flat, oily, and having been cooked on a flattop grill. For a $12 omelette and a French restaurant, more detail could have been given to this signature brunch item. Service was sketchy as well. On the up-side, the chocolate eclair was fantastic. The poor food & service could have been a fluke, but the more people we speak with in our neighborhood about the experience, the more we hear "Oh yea, that place isnt all that great." (wish they had left reviews also!!)
