I always feel like I am being hurried when I go in here. I understand that there is usually a line, but staff should not make the customer feel like their only priority is to get on to the next customer. Every time I ask a questions I always feel like they are irritated. . maybe they are drinking too much of their own (admittedly above-average) coffee. As for food, it is distinctly average, regardless of their use of organic ingredients. Breakfast sandwiches are so-so. Mediocre value, though it is West Asheville, so theres not a lot of competition (do try Bean Werks next door though!). Overall, I go here because its my only option on the way to work for a full menu quick breakfast, but I wish another place would open up to make them lower their prices and better their service.

So I probably would have given them a 4 because of a decent cannoli ... But after finishing my iced coffee and finding a massive fly at the bottom of my cup (to go lidded cup) I promptly informed them frantically and awkwardly they took the iced coffee out of the fridge preparing to dump it out at my suggestion... after I sat down they argued about what to do and decided to put it back... I was there for another hour and they served ice coffee about 5 more times from the fly bath... They had offered me another cup for free (ya no thanks) or a refund and to me 3$ isnt going to buy back my dignity or loyalty... If they had just dumped it and rebrewed all would be fine... Instead they lose a customer forever. Its about doing the right thing.

They make ok bread... Stay away if you dont use a microwave at home, why would you pay for that out? I didnt feel comfortable eating any "cooked" "food" so I tried a prepared cold salad which was ok but Ive seen and tasted much better cold cases. Seems like City Bakery with less options. The local produce that makes Asheville special was no where to be found. I much prefer and highly recommend OWL Bakery a little further down Haywood if you want real food, and a better mood. Why three stars if I dont like this place? Its not the worst place Ive been, the location is convenient for a coffee, but you wont see me here.

I called West End Bakery at 9 a.m. in hopes that my last minute cake order would not get laughed at. I needed a simple but elegant cake for a small gathering after my step daughters wedding ceremony which was at four that afternoon. I needed the cake by six. These people were and are amazing! It was a beautiful cake, and it tasted as good as it looked, and they even delivered it for me. Yes, it was a little pricey, but what are those special moments in life worth, more than what I paid! Thank you West End Bakery and special thanks to the lady who took my order. She is definitely in the right line of work.

Weve been going to West End since it opened in Spring 2001. It quickly became a neighborhood gathering spot, and has remained so even with numerous businesses opening on Haywood Road. That said, its also a destination for folks from other parts of the city. The owners are dedicated to using local food, and always trying new things. As stated in previous reviews, the baked goods are yummy, and so are the sandwiches and drinks. Ive ordered numerous cakes and have always been very pleased. The chocolate ganache icing is to die for. Great place to work, socialize or just hang out for a bit!

It was ok. Muffin was slightly dry, which Im just being picky on. It was still tasty, but the thing that we were really upset about is the fruit. Fruit that comes with the granola and yogurt could be far more inspiring. Just melons and grapes. Thats the kind of thing a crappy diner gives you. Granola and yogurt is awesome! But the fruit.... Its the little things if youre trying to set yourself apart from other local bakeries in the area. Girlfriend has been here a lot; staff is always friendly. Overall enjoyable experience but things could be better, just sayin.

Really how is this place still in business? Im a native of Ashevile and always wish they would give up their space and let somebody else come in and do a better job. They at least need to call themselves a cafe rather than bakery. They have nothing in the cases, its humorous. Their transient employee staff never knows whats going on or how to do basic things. In addition my experiences their employees have always been smug and make you feel like you being there is inconveniencing them. So many better places.

I have been going to the West End Bakery since it opened, and have always found it welcoming, warm, and friendly. Ive had meetings there, brought children and grandchildren, had lunch with friends, and always had good service, excellent and savory food (my little granddaughters always order the giant, delicious cinnamon rolls!) and had an excellent variety of dishes from which to choose. I especially appreciate the owners attention to using as much locally-grown products as possible.

This business is what Asheville is all about - local and organic produce and ingredients, delicious food, friendly and helpful staff, reasonable prices. West End is truly part of the community, and they are always very accommodating when I need to special order a cake or anything else with all organic ingredients, or to make any other kind of substitutions. We are lucky to have them here!

Hands down, the best cinnamon roles Ive ever tasted (and Ive tasted quite a few). The veggie sausage & egg biscuits are also insanely good (but usually only available on week-ends). Great scones, granola and chocolate chip cookies too! As other reviewers mentioned, its very family friendly. They also sell copies of the NY Times. I love this place!

I work next door to the bakery and I absolutly love their muffins. They have food to cater to everyone (so if your afraid to try vegan or spelt anything they offer more to cater to your needs). I would reccomend everyone to try West End Bakery atleast once, but once you eat their once youll wanna go back...

Lots of delicious, healthy choices for meals and sweet treats, too. I love the changing soups choices, especially in the winter. We have friends who always stop here when they are driving through to TN because it is such a family-friendly place for their kids.

Coffee and food good. Disappointed that they are cooking breakfast sandwiches (and I dont what what else) in a microwave, which destroys most nutrients. Maybe they will switch to a convention oven instead if enough people understand what microwaves do to food.

Got the sausage biscuit and it was very different and would certainly order it again in the future. Sausage tasted as if it was locally produced, so it was definitely a step up from most sausage and biscuit restaurants.

Made a special trip to try a cinnamon roll. It was warm, but almost under cooked and too sweet. Only could taste the sugar and nothing else. Not a well balanced pastry. Very popular and hard to find parking.
