This is a place where blue collar workers on a modest budget come for the fuel that will get them through their day. Its simple food for simple folks but in the end; a little too simple/bland for my tastes. After a rough night of drink the misses and I drug ourselves over here for some breakfast. In addition to being a diner it also serves as a shrine to all things Nascar, with a collection of sponsor decorated hoods hanging from the ceiling, pencil portraits of various nascar legends adorning the walls and much more. I liked it, even though I dont really follow Nascar at all. Our waitress was a friendly gal and everyone seemed to know each other on a first name basis. Its just that kind of place. Anyhow, we ordered. Me, a ham and cheese omelet with biscuits and gravy, and for the lady with the bloodshot eyeballs, biscuits and gravy with bacon and home fries. The food was fine. Nondescript, but fine. I wasnt a fan of the brown gravy (figured it would be country gravy), because it didnt really taste like anything, but thats kind of missing the point. What is served here isnt food as much as it is, as I said earlier; fuel. And its CHEAP. Everything was around $5, with many items falling far below that amount. I dont know, they do fried chicken and 3 sides for like $6 or something. With them being about 500 yards from our porch, I could see us giving that a go somewhere down the line. Grade: 87 Octane ( Cash Only folks, dont forget)

Great American diner! Friendly and fast staff. We even got asked if we knew anyone looking to be a cashier... Were tourists. Friendly and nice people everywhere. We paid $11 for our food, including yummy biscuits and home fries. My friend says our biscuits were better here than biscuit head... Says something to you all, hopefully. We were there around 1030 and the place was already full. People thankfully eat fast, but we sat at the breakfast bar. They were willing to give us lunch food, even though it was before 11 when we were asking. We wanted to try their banana pudding and Mac and cheese. Both were great. Banana pudding was best dessert Ive had in a diner and Mac n cheese wasnt too salty or overdone. Whenever is preparing the food knows their American classics. Cant beat it for the staff, local folks, price, and taste.

I have been eating at the Tastee Diner for over thirty years. This is the ORIGINAL West Asheville restaurant for native West Ashevillians to meet and eat breakfast and lunch on weekdays. Nothing pretentious... Just good "down home" cooking and the friendliest staff around! Its like "Cheers" in the aspect that once you eat there a couple of times, from then on, "everyone will know your name" AND your food preferences! It is also the most reasonably priced restaurant in West Asheville, where a recent influx of new boutique eateries have driven prices through the roof! Kudos to David and his staff for their consistent great food and service over the years!

The food is okay, I have been back a couple times and it impresses me less and less each time. The soda machine is constantly flat. They clearly say on the menu that every burger comes with LTO, even after ordering a specialty Mushroom and Swiss, and specifically asking for LTO on there, they completely ignored the request. Its pretty mediocre. Shame because the ingredients taste great, when theyre actually prepared and given to you the way you asked for.

We waked in and looked forward to eating here. The food smelled great and we were starving! While standing in line to order, we watched the chef prepare food and have never been more discussed. The chef did not wear gloves and continued to wipe his hands on his unclean apron and used dish rags. We watched for a second thinking it was a fluke, it was not. After loosing our appetites, we left and will never be back.

My favorite restaurant in town! I went for the first time about three weeks ago and Ive been back multiple times since. Im obsessed! Everything is great quality and delicious, yet it still doesnt break the budget at all. Ultimate comfort food spot. I like to get the mushroom bacon burger and sub blue cheese for swiss... so good... their breakfast is incredible as well!

Man, what a great find. I kind of dont want as many people knowing about it, because there isnt a ton of seating, but Id be dishonest if I didnt say how great it is. We went for breakfast, and every last part of the meal was outstanding. I cannot wait to go back for dinner, because I need to have a burger.

One of the friendliest diners Ive ever been in. With great prices and food, too! Im adventurous with food so I got the tastee chicken and waffles. Boom it was delicious with their unique topping and cheese. I even topped it with syrup and the flavors just blend so well. Come enjoy this tastee place!

Tastee Diner hit the spot on a hot Sunday afternoon! I had the hawaiian dog and my husband had the chicken sandwich. Both were fresh and came out hot. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to grab a quick lunch. It truly is tastee!

You order your food and pick it up at the counter, bus your own table, get your own drinks and silverware, and yet they have a tip jar at the register. Breakfast is way to expensive for what you get. Please bring back the old Tastee Diner!

The burgers are exactly what you want in a burger: fast food style, but with the kind of quality ingredients you have come to expect in Asheville. Fast and very friendly service. Great daily specials. They have Texas Pete.

We went over to get a good plate lunch which is what the original Diner served. We had read that the new owners were not going to change anything. We were totally disappointed. Its nothing more now than a burger joint.

The burgers here are wonderful. High quality meat with the grease and feel good of bad for your heart diner food. Staff is super friendly. I highly recommend the Korean burger.

Cheap and great quality. My friends and family come here for a late brunch like once a week. Staff is friendly and there are specials everyday of the week. I really recomend!

Low frills with a focus on food, just like a good Asheville hot spot should be. If you come, get something with fried chicken. The biscuits are also highly recommended.

Tiny and a little unorthodox, but great food. Id say its a hipster thing but its Asheville so... of course it is. Thats not a detriment. I also own flannel button-ups.
