OMG, a prohibition era Detroit pub still thriving nearly 100 years later. The Cadieux Cafe is legendary In Detroit. Its mussels are not to be missed in any month with an "r" in it. Go as a group and reserve the two lanes of feather bowling in the courts connected to the restaurant, Feather bowling is a Belgian game played on a concave dirt bowling lane with a large pigeon feather at each end of the lane. You bowl a large wooden object, shaped like an over-sized jelly doughnut, down the concaved dirt lane and try to get as close as you can to the feather. Your opponent tries to knock your object out and get closer himself. But back to the food! Many delicious Belgian dishes are served, along with several European beers. A serving of 50 mussels for one comes with melted butter, tangy mustard and bread to soak up the yummy juices. The stand-alone brick cafe has a free large fenced parking lot and is in a working class neighborhood. Inside, it looks like an old neighborhood bar because it is, minus the "Cheers" crowd. So dress comfortably and leave your pretensions at the door.

After hearing so much about how great the mussels are, we ventured from Brighton MI for the Monday night all-you-can-eat menu offering. Much to our chagrin, the waitress said they had a new supplier, and didnt have enough for all-you-can-eat. So we paid the $19.00 per serving, for a good sized crock, but were disappointed in the garlic (or lack thereof) broth, with no added aromatics for flavor. The tastiness of the bivalved mollusks were sandy, with beards still attached. The bread served was pretty much plain white and not the toasted garlicky accompaniment needed. The salmon appetizer seemed like store bought on a plate with crackers, the salad was basic, and the draft beers limited. For my money I would go to Vivianos in Eastern Market for the best mussels! In my opinion this place is overprice and underwhelming....

Didnt drink, didnt bowl, nor enjoy the atmosphere, so I cannot comment on that.. BUT I CAN COMMENT ON THE GRILLED CHEESE THEY SERVE! Now I kind of consider myself a "grilled cheese coneseur", and this might be one of the best I have ever had!!! So, if you find yourself here one night, and you like grilled cheeses, make sure you have one!!!!! YUMMY YUMMY YUM!!!

All you can eat mussels on monday! Secure parking, friendly staff and knowledgeable managers who can recite the history of this detroit gem. Generous portions and a beer list honed to perfection over many years. Stop in and you can talk to the owners, who are always around because they love the place as much as the many regulars.

We went on Sunday night for the live music and the jazz was amazing. No cover and the Belgian onion soup and roast beef au jus were yummy. The coffee was really good too. The bread and butter they gave with the meal also hit the spot. Lots of beer choices. Music started at 10pm. Highly recommend will come again.

Bowling is fun, but the place is kinda in a disrepair state. Food is mediocre, prices are a bit buch for it, and the mens room is basically either ice urinal or rickety toilet. Cant say i would come here unless it was for just bowling honestly.
