I dropped by Storm on Monday evening and sat at the bar. The fried okra appetizer on a bed of lemony arugula was delicious. The glass of Kölsch beer that I enjoyed was a perfect compliment for my tasty appetizer. I asked the bartender about their burgers and he said they were "the best in town", ground fresh in house. I told him that I did not like over-cooked burgers and wanted it pink all the way through. He suggested that I order it "medium". I ordered the burger that came with cheddar, fried thinly sliced onion rings and their housemade coleslaw. Unfortunately, the burger came to me cooked almost ... Well Done !! There was really no coleslaw to speak of on the burger and they had added a thickly sliced raw onion, sliced tomato and lettuce, which was not indicated on the menu. The meat was DRY and TOUGH. I told the bartender that my burger was closer to well done and he kind of shrugged and said that they had been getting alot of complaints about their burgers being "undercooked" so the kitchen has since been overcooking the burgers to compensate for the complaints. Perhaps I should have ordered my burger RARE if I had really wanted it MEDIUM. A restaurant should NOT have burgers on their menu if they do not know how to cook them correctly. The glass of LAN Rioja that the bartender suggested to go with my burger was really not drinkable. I struggled to drink half of the glass. I still tipped the bartender 20% and left quietly but I dont think Ill be returning to Storm any time soon. There are too many good restaurants in Asheville.

My husband and I come here often. We used to come for dinner, but found the food to be hit or miss. They have a drink that I love, the Devils Oasis, so now we stick to drinks and the same app-Charcuterie Plate. The location is good so we usually walk downtown after. Last night we decided to try them again for dinner -Valentines dinner....We were surprised to find a prix fixe menu, but went along with it. Starting with the good: The tuna tartare appetizer was really excellent. Fresh, tender and melted in your mouth. The not so good- grouper with white beans- the most bland piece of fish, with hard undercooked beans and a few greens? Followed by dessert which was so small, we finished in 3 bites. Then came the bill..$50 per person for THAT! How do you break that down for 3 courses-2 of which were shameful. I was angry. I dont mind spending that kind of money on gourmet food, but this was ridiculous. Top that with 2 drinks that were not included and the bill was $126. I feel we were robbed. I wish we would have stuck with Seven Sows, but thought wed try Storm again. Ill finish by saying we are not picky eaters and very rarely complain. Ive also tried every nice restaurant in this city-grew up in New Orleans etc. so I have a clue. I really wanted to like this place again, but they did not deliver.

Since the first night we visited Storm nearly a year ago, my friends and I continue to come back. Being in the design industry, I fell in love with the decor and the atmosphere. It is indeed one of my favorite spots in Asheville. The staff are always friendly, smiling and the service is usually pretty quick, even when busy. In the countless times that we have been, we have rarely had a complaint. If we did, it was a rare occurrence that was promptly taken care of. Theyve even responded to some of the unique requests of my friends. The manager makes a point to greet customers and make them feel at home, which I think is something you dont always see at other venues. I have tried numerous dishes there and have always been happy. Their fries and homemade ketchup are great. I even loved the vegetable sandwich and I tried it on a whim, not usually being much of a vegetable sandwich kind of person. Their drinks are excellent. Try any of their mojitos!

This restaurant is the restaurant that I have been praying would open in Asheville!!! The menu is affordable and very creative. Our waitress was bright, bubbly and very friendly as well as very well versed in the menu and the nights specials and was greatly attentive. It was a pleasure to have her serving us. My husband and I shared a pork belly special that was out of this world. The pork was cooked perfectly so that you didnt even need a knife to cut it and the relish with it provided the perfect amount of acidity to counter act the fat in the belly. Then my husband ordered the confit fried chicken and it was absolutely brilliant!! Crispy skin with lovely tender chicken meat and the fried egg on top was a stroke of shear genius! I also had the mussels and they were also cooked perfectly and the broth was to die for. Everything was absolutely delicious! I cant wait to go back. Keep up the great work!

Not a good experience as far as food goes. For an appetizer we had the cannellini bruschetta, which was obviously premade a few days prior. It was promptly served as a chewy (not toasted) bread at a temperature of about 40° with a smear of cannellini paste on top. For a main course I had the grilled veggie burger, which was basically zucchini and bread with a little bit of pesto. The french fries on the side were rock hard and thats only a slight exageration, they were really just a little softer than rock candy. On the plus side the drinks were good, I would reccommend going for their bar, but the food was terrible. Another friend of ours did seem to enjoy their hamburger, so maybe that is worth a shot, but I would reccommend the bacon hamburger at The Junction on Depot St.

The food at Storm is usually excellent, but occasionally inconsistent during dinner service. The kitchen always turns out great food for the late night menu. The decor is fine, but if the restaurant is full its very noisy. Service is usually quite good. If you go to Storm just for the food, youll do alright, but youve missed the point. There is a very fine selection of high quality rums available either as a flight or individually. The individual servings usually are a two-ounce pour in a snifter, which is the best way to enjoy rum. The older rums are a delight to sample, and considering their age and rarity in North Carolina, relatively inexpensive. Overall, Id recommend Storm any time, and especially after 10 in the evening, when its the best game in town.

We were celebrating our 20th anniversary, we love to cook healthy and wanted something more exotic than what we do at home. The food was in the stratosphere, we started with the charcuterie plate, its best not to ask what it is made of (headcheese). I was informed everything was made in house from every part of the animal. This is what has sustained humans for thousands of years before processed garbage masquerading as human food became the norm. We complemented our dinner with a bottle of 2008 Perrin Gigondas (a soft vintage drinking perfectly well that night). I had the special featuring Black Wagyu belly steak (the Japanese use the cows for Kobe beef). This steak had the flavor, texture and melt in your mouth quality fit for royalty.
