I was very excited to have my moms 81st birthday surprise dinner at Asti Caffe. I flew up from Miami for this and was very disappointed. The waitress was sweet but inexperienced and I had to tell both bussers to stop reaching across my guests faces to clear plates (easier for them). The wine I ordered was not presented to me just opened and poured, I accepted it only to realize it was not what I had ordered (my bad). The food came out very slow, calamari fritto was good the bruscheta was so sad. It was more like a bad pizza that was sliced up into small pieces. The worst was yet to come-every dish obviously sat under a heat lamp for a long time. The wait was so long the waitress gave us wine on the house. I had the lobster pasta which sounded great ($22), did you ever see what a cream sauce looks like after sitting under a heat lamp too long? I picked out the lobster but that was all I could eat. My sisters Ahi Tuna was well done-this was completely ruined. Moms eggplant soggy. Even the birthday dessert with a candle was messed up. Did you ever see a server bring the dessert put it in front of the guest and then light the candle? The kitchen needs to step it up and the management needs to train is wait staff is my recommendation (as a restaurant owner myself). I wanted to love this place but sadly was extremely disappointed.

My wife and I go to Asti every week. Its more expensive, probably, than most people at our income level would feel comfortable with splurging on once a week. Let me tell you--its well worth it. Im someone who generally prefers to cook her own dinner, too, but Im happy to save my pennies in order to be able to eat here consistently. The service is very good. We always end up with one of two servers: Alexis or Davelyn. Both are friendly and attentive, and remember us when we come. Jason, the manager, is the kind of guy who remembers your drink order and knows what youll like if he doesnt have your regular favorites. Normally, we make a reservation, but even when we dont, the staff makes us feel welcome and always manages to get us a good table as quickly as possible. The food is consistently excellent. Im not exaggerating. Excellent. Ive tried many of the regular menu items and frequently opt for the specials, as well. Ive never been disappointed. Id like to give similar praise to the dessert selection, but honestly, the Tiramisu is so damn good that Ive never felt a need to try anything else on the menu. Im assuming its full of home runs, though. Even the coffee is good. If youve never been here, youre seriously missing out.

Awful.. I used to recommend this place to people. This is the second time this has happend and I wont be going back. After having reservations at 7:30 we waited 15 minutes for the waitress to come over then ordered our food and some wine. After waiting an 1:15 minutes, yes and hour plus we still had no food. We over heard the "manager" talking to a couple that sat down 20 minutes after us that had the same issue and they then got their food before us. Finally the "Manger" came over to us and said our food would be out in 5 minutes at this point we were no longer hungry and he asked us if you would like the food to go. NO!! we wouldnt then he says what can I do to make this all right? Um how about you pay for the wine we had and say sorry. He then had to go talk to the owner to see that is ok. Comes back with a bill for the wine and thats that thanks for ruining another evening. DONT EVER GO. Unless you want to wait a very long time. Like I said this is the 2nd time.

Ive been going to Asti for years. The service has always been outstanding. On my recent trip, my friends took me there for dinner to celebrate my birthday. I ordered the Tortellini di Bernardo. I dont really like peas, so the chefs prepared my dish without them. I asked for extra sauce on the pasta and they accomodated that request as well. It came out PERFECT! The waitress brought out a free canoli with a candle for my bday (Im glad she didnt sing!) and even the owner came over to the tables asking how our experience was. Im a huge fan of the honey balsamic dressing and I even asked the owner if it would be possible to buy a bottle. Asti is in the process of selling their dressings and oils!!! Very excited! All in all, this is my favorite Itlaian resturant in Syracuse.....on another note, David Barton you wrote the exact same review 11 months ago? whats up with that?

WOW!!! I am a tough critic and I thought my mean was PHENOMENAL!! I ordered the Kansas City Strip M/R with Utica Greens and was absolutely blown away with the quality and tenderness of the cut, the reduction sauce on top that complimented the steak AND the greens were delicious! The prices were exceptional...after bread, salad, steak, greens and two glasses of a very nice cab the bill was $44.00!!

Went w my family of four (sitting here now actually). Ordered a tortellini dish and my wife had the broccoli cavatelli. Both dishes were super bland. Hers had a fishy smell. My kids penne vodka and penne w marinara was pretty good. Bill was $80 without an appetizer. Overall was pretty disappointed - not going back. Waitress was great - she gets a star on her own.

I had a good time at this Italian restaurant. They are not in the most affluent neighborhood, but you would never guess it by the interior of the dining room. Their food was well-prepared and presented, and our waitress was a lovely person. Well worth the price. It is a pity the restaurant is not larger.

I have had dinner there a few times, it has become my favorite when I travel to Syracuse. Contrary to other posts the service is fine. The food is consistently great. Sandra (bartender) does great job in making you feel welcome and appreciated while waiting for table to clear. I recommend it

A very busy diner with lots of seating. Staff is friendly and they dont try to push you out the door when you are done. (This may be why wait times can be 20 minutes or more at lunch.) I have been here countless times and I always seem to run into people I know from various circles.

Had a bad experience one time with the service. We had a groupon, and felt as though we were treated like second class citizens. However, the food is so good, we ended up going back. The honey vinaigrette is great on the salad, and they do the utica greens real well.

The food is very good. The staff in attentive and the atmosphere is relaxed. It can get loud in the dining room, so it may not be the best place for an intimate conversation. The chicken riggies are very good.
