I wanted to surprise my father-in-law with a special birthday dinner of borscht (his favorite soup while growing up), chicken liver with onions, branzino, and lamb kebab. My challenge was that I live in Atlanta, and my father-in-law lives in SI. I was so incredibly lucky to find Cafe Gourmand! The owner was so very helpful! He accommodated my requests - even the one to instruct the delivery person to wish my father-in-law "Happy Birthday!" (and the delivery person did)! I didnt know what to expect regarding the quality of the food since Im in ATL and have never eaten there before. It was a BIG HIT with my in-laws! They said the food was DELICIOUS (including the borscht - yay!). They have put Cafe Gourmand on their list of favorite restaurants in SI. And I look forward to dining there on our next visit!

When you go to the restaurant you expect to have delicious food, great atmosphere and high quality service. This place has it all. It is very beautiful as well. Not many russian places like this can be found in Staten Island. Delicious food, I had duck salad, foie gras and manty. Everything was A+. Place is very clean and beautiful, staff was welcoming and helpful. I dont usually write reviews but when I am completely satisfied I do!

Finally there is good food in this part of Staten Island! This is THE spot for delicious, always fresh, homecooked-like meals. The entrees are amazing but I love the salads even more. Ive been here 4 times eat-in and 1 time take-out. All times quality doesnt waver. Heard they now have live music, going tomorrow to check it out. OOhhh and did I mention they have pastries??! prepare to undo your top buttons...

This is one of the best restaurants on Staten Island. The food here is delicious and it is always made fresh to order. Freshness of food is a very big issue nowadays and Cafe Gourmand nails it spot on! This place is great. On the weekends they have a singer who is AMAZING. Sings in English and Russian and has one of the best voices ever. If youre not hungry, then definitely come for the music.

Amazing place!!!!! Just ordered 3 plates of PLOV and lamb/ chicken shish kebab... Nice stuff!!! Really impressed! Moreover - while waiting for my order I was approached by one of the manager and was offered coffee/ tea and some cake.... Really nice place - feels like at home. Boris

I recently had an amazing birthday party in this restaurant. Food was very delicious and plentiful. The service was great and the waiters did not stop refilling the plates. Thank you so much! Highly recommend this restaurant for all occasional events!

We celebrated in cafe Gourmand my daughters birthday! It was small family party with 18-20 people! I loved this place! Food, service, music, atmosphere - everything was great! Now I will celebrate my birthday on September 20th! Thank you very much!

Horrible place STAY AWAY! ate at cafe Gourmand today and got a really bad food poisoning, DONT GO TO THIS UNSANITARY PLACE. they got hit by the hurricane and probably too cheap to clean up. STAY AWAY if you dont want to be throwing up like me.

Was there on Saturday night, kitchen closed at 9 pm, food was pretty subpar, Service just Okay. We were rushed to place the order before kitchen closed. Wouldnt recommend it.
