I came here with friends during a busy Saturday brunch shift. We waited about 15 minutes for a table of four but the staff was friendly and accommodating. The food was just okay. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing but I usually judge a breakfast/brunch spot on how well they can make an omelette, and omelettes are usually one of the healthier choices of the menu. I wasnt thrilled about their standard options but there was a "build your own" section on the menu so I ordered a simple feta cheese and spinach one. When it arrived, it was a dark golden brown on the outside which is almost never a good sign. As suspected, the eggs were overcooked and rubbery. Even stranger, though, was that the feta and spinach were not Incorporated into the omelette at all. They just had the egg wrapped around them like soft taco and the spinach was raw and the cheese was barely above room temperature in large cubes. The whole thing along with the toast was just warmish and clearly had been sitting around while the other dishes at the table were prepared. Speaking of, one of my table mates ordered "corned beef hash" with poached eggs but what arrived was some skilled fried strips of corned beef, a side of home fries and the eggs. Thats not what corned beef hash is and he noted this to the server. The other two guests that the table ordered the Louisiana farm plate, I think it was, and it came with fried chicken and drop biscuits and their dishes both look very good. Clearly this is the specialty area of this place. The atmosphere overall was fun and hip but I will not be rushing back for the food.

Let me first start off by saying that I am somewhat picky, but so not "that person" who sends food back to the kitchen. I intentionally order the same types of things everywhere I go to avoid having any issues. In fact, I think Ive only ever refused to eat something one other time in my entire life, and last night, it happened with both entrees that I attempted to eat from this restaurant. The first was a turkey burger, which I had seen on the menu during my first visit, (which was just a coffee and desert stop for my husband and I). I have never, ever had a turkey burger that tasted like this before. It was absolutely terrible... rubbery, clearly not made fresh, white as a ghost, and barely hot. I couldnt even believe it was as bad as it was. Then I ordered the chick pot pie, which was extremely greasy, but I was going to eat it anyway, until I started crunching on bones. Twice. Ive NEVER had that happen to me before either. And the waitress was nice enough, but not at all attentive and far from enthusiastic about her job. The water glasses were only filled because we made it obvious by setting them on the edge of the table. And water was all I had to drink! And as a side note, when a cafe serves up deserts that arent home made this close to NYC, I am far from impressed. They did have a few home made items, but my cookie, was just a cookie. I will definitely never go back to this restaurant again. Sad.

$10 MINIMUM TO BUY A COFFEE! YOU OBVIOUSLY NEED A NEW MANAGER we just moved into a new office a block away from beechwood cafe. i was looking for a coffee shop to go to every morning and i can say do not go to this one. Why even have your coffee shop section if someone cant walk in order a $5.80 iced latte and you will not accept their card? how do you have a $10 minimum on credit cards when not one coffee shop in nyc or jersey city asks customers to order a minimum of $10. i understand you pay fees for taking credit cards but for a debit card the fees are so low today this is why every coffee shop does not have a minimum near $10. here is a list of coffee shops either across the street or in blocks where you will not get taken advantage of by a local business. read other reviews before wasting money here. lackawanna coffee 9 bar cafe starbucks dd the warehouse cafe grove square nothing more frustrating than walking all the way to your place before work on a monday morning and your horrible run restaurant tells a custome $10 minimum when all i wanted was a coffee hahaha what a jooooooooke! you have no excuse for this and i do not want to hear about fees because i have run a credit card processing business for 10 years and the fees for coffee shops are so low that you are just trying to bring in more business and screw over customers. congrats you suck!

I visited this cafe fall/winter 2008 and had a very pleasant experience. I was looking for a good place to sit and read/accomplish some things online while in a comfortable setting and this place definitely satisfied. I cant remember what I ordered, but the food was good. The desserts are not made on site which was a disappointment, but the atmosphere was nice, they let me sit there uninterrupted for hours, had delicious coffee, and free internet. They were also very helpful and friendly - I forgot my book in the cafe and they found it and held it for me for a couple of days until I was able to pick it up. Id recommend this as a good place to have a light dinner or to come relax and get work done without the constant hum of coffee grinders at Starbucks and without having to fight for a seat.

I want to start off by saying that I actually really like this place... but that lately it has been really disappointing. Things I like: relaxed, casual athmosphere and friendly staff. Things I DONT like: it can take a really, really long time to get your food (this morning for example, it took 35mins to get coffee!) and when you do, the quality is inconsistent - bitter coffee, or cold eggs for example. And the wait isnt due to a full house, this is more likely to happen on weekday mornings with only 2 or 3 occupied tables. Id really like to see improvement... but if things dont get better soon - I think Ill have to bite the bullet and find a new breakfast haunt.

The service here is consistently bad. I can only guess it has to do with the horrible manager/owner. The restaurant was nothing but trouble when I went there for a Sunday brunch. The server forgot to put our food order in. The manger made her cry and pay for one of the entrees. No solution was offered when we spoke to the manager about our continuing issues throughout our time at the restaurant. Never have I been so unhappy with a dining experience. The foods just fine, and after giving the place the benefit of the doubt twice, I now realize this is an establishment uninterested in providing adequate service or respect for its patrons.

Just purchased a spinach omelette 7/29/2016, I had to repeat the order 3 times for a simple order because the attendant was incompetent and unable to provide quality customer service. I used a gift card and I had to ask for a receipt to see my balance. The omelette was small, dry, bland, and lousy tasting with only 2 leaves of spinach. Overpriced. I only hit 1 star because it was the only way to post a review. Dont recommend. This is the second time I used my gift cards in this area and experienced bad service across the board.
