I have been a customer of Patisserie Salzburg of Rye for many years. During that time, for at least the past 7-8 years, I have ordered each Spring a particular birthday cake. Please note the attached photos of last year’s cake. Yesterday I visited the bakery to order the same cake for this year and was told that I would have to return today to speak directly with the pastry chef, which is what I did. After waiting for her to have the time to meet, I was told that she “never made the cake” I described and did not acknowledge the photos as a cake made on their premises. I was told the specifications of the cake I wanted was “not Continental” and as such “was never made”. When I asked her if she thought I was lying, she said no, but reiterated that they had never made this particular cake. In reality, they had not made it once, but once each March for the past 7-8 years. I do not know which was worse, the denial of having baked the cake a number of times in the past or the pastry chef’s arrogance.

As I was walking down the street in Rye, NY yesterday, I happened to notice a beautiful pastry shop called Patisserie Salzburg of Rye. The shop immediately mentally transported me to pastry shops Id visited in various European cities. I wondered if the pastries were as good as they looked. Surely, nothing could come close to the pastries of Paris. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that the pastries of this little shop not only came close, but surpassed my wildest expectations. My husband, the real pastry conniouseur of our family, said, "These are the best pastries Ive ever had in my life!" Take it from me...thats saying a lot! I especially enjoyed the almond danish, and the lingonberry-cheese turnover!

I Had gotten the Egg and Cheese Omlette but I dont eat cheese so they subsituted it for avocado and it was delightful! The butter crossaint was delicious and the atmosphere was cute. The food came out quick and everyone was super nice! I defiently reccomend this place for a nice quick brunch/lunch.

Patisserie Salzburg is a remarkable experience. It sells authentic European pastries and breads. Ive been a customer for over 15 years. The quality of the baked goods is on par with the finest restaurants in America. I recommend the Opera cake, the croissants and the quiche.

Great local bakery with delicious coffee! Personal favorites include the lemon meringue tart, the apple bran muffin, and the assorted cookies (sarah bernhardts, chocolate coconut macaroons!). Stop in here for a quick treat and leave happier.

An authentic European pastry shop in the middle of Westchester. Reminds me of cafes I visited in Paris. What a good find.
