My husband & I were REALLY looking forward to visiting this bakery as we know their bread & food are amazing. We went there with the intention of getting some pricing for several sub trays,a cake,a variety of pastries & some other side dishes for our daughters Birthday party. When we walked in,they were visibly busy. We waited at the counter for a few seconds until a young boy approached the counter to assist us. We informed him of what we were there for,he walked away from the counter & returned with pricing for something completely different then what we inquired about. When we corrected him,he left once again & came back very confused & unsure of what he was talking about. He kept repeating himself saying "I dont know,Im not really sure". He unfortunately was not at all knowledgeable on what he got paid to sell/what his employer offered to customers. His demeanor with us was quite frankly a bit embarrassing for himself & the bakery. In a way,it was kind of sad to witness. Seeing that we were there ready & willing to make a large purchase order,we asked if we could speak to a manager or someone that could give us accurate pricing & information about what we wanted/needed to buy. At that point we stepped away from the counter so other customers could be tended to & waited off to the side with our 2 year old daughter in hand. Ten minutes give or take passed & no one ever even came to our rescue. Long story short-We walked out..And no one bothered to follow after us. We left in such shock & were so upset we had to deal with such a negative encounter that we were super excited about in the first place. Very bad impression for such a highly rated/recommended place of business. EXTREMELY disappointing experience!! :(

In the 1960s, I used to visit my grandmother who lived at 227 Saratoga Ave right next to the original Martusciellos Bakery. How I remember the smell of fresh bed. The famly was always wonderful to us, "The Licatas." My grandparents owned what was a store in the building but then sold it in the early 60s to the family. The pizza unbelievable. My 4 siblings and mom came to visit the bakery on July 8, 2016. The bread, the pizza, the pastries are as fantastic, authentic as ever. We talked to some of the family that worked there and they remembered our grandparents. A memory Ill never forget from 1968- We had moved to Ohio and had to rush to Rochester after a tragic death of our aunt. We arrived late in the evening and the Martusciellos brought over their comforting pizza for all of us. What a special time there today.

Considering the great reviews, I was really looking forward to having lunch here while in town. I left pretty disappointed. I ordered pizza with sausage and peppers. I got pizza that was barely warm around edges and cold in the center, like it had just come out of a refrigerator. The peppers were huge cold slices, the onions were basically raw, just thrown on top, and the pizza had a ton of olives and mushrooms which I definitely didnt ask for. The staff was not friendly. Maybe I went on a bad day..? Regardless, I wont be back.

Like a previous reviewer said, Martusciello sells breads all over Monroe county. Ive been buying for years at a store near my home. Recently, I discovered the their bakery was near to where I work and finally decided to stop in. I was expecting simply a bakery. What I found was a lot more. I ended up picking up lunch there and was very impressed. I have already started to find excuses to go there again.

Been going to Martusciellos Bakery for the past fifteen years. The only thing to dislike about my experience is that I eat too much. As a person who enjoys sandwiches/subs, I consider these best in the city.

Easy to miss turn if youre speeding down on Lyell Avenue. If you pass the Wegmans traffic light westbound, you went too far. Its worth the drive for homemade type Italian biscottis & sweets. I

Im a bit of a snob when it comes to Italian Hoagies, but this sandwich was fantastic. Highly recommended if youre looking for a great deli sandwich in the Rochester area.

Its just the best. If you think Subway makes subs, try Martuciellos and see what a REAL sandwich is. This is a necessary stop every time Im in Rochester.
