10/24/15: Updated. The owner reached out to me after our last experience, gave us a gift Certificate and asked us to try again. We did. For my wifes Birthday again. Much quieter and much better view this time. So, food. Appetizers of Steamers, coconut shrimp, onion soup and chowder. Steamers were very salty but OK, Onion soup so-so, Shrimp great, Chowder-good. On to dinner. The Meals where all COLD! Everyone of them. My sons seafood platter was ice cold with half cooked scallops, potatoes - cold. My wifes prime rib was a cold slab of dry tough meat, her potatoes so cold that they crumbled (mashed). The rest of the tables food was slightly warmer but nothing was hot. Where it sat, I do not know and whos fault it was, I do not care. My wife lost her temper and told them the food stinks. Yes, they did take off her meal as she ate none of it, but we just wanted out of there. Im sorry but there is no excuse for what happen with that meal. At a diner with cheap prices maybe, but not a expensive restaurant. I was hoping the first time was just a mess up, and I could change it to a better review, but nope, burned twice. Sorry. Done for ever. $205.00 including the $50.00 off and 1 meal removed for that. Never Again. Our first visit and probably our last. Made reservations 4 days in advance. Arrived and were told only seat was at bar area in corner with no river view. We saw empty tables in the bar area with a view and asked and we informed "they are for regulars".....what are we? Dirt? After a short wait we are given our "non-regular seats" Appetizers where real good, soup was great. Now my meal comes, their signature steak, the cowboy. Ordered medium with baked potato and butter. I get a well done piece of grizzle and no butter for potato. Hey, it happens. I waited 5 minutes for waitress to come back and informed her. OK, Ill get you a new one. Waited and waited. Rest of family finished meal and is hanging out and I finally get my food. Steak cooked medium well and same potato, now cold. I gave up, ate what I could and we payed our full price and left. The manager on duty came over and did say he was sorry about the steak, be it 10 minutes after it went back. I have had better steak at a dinner than this $27.00 thing. One mess up happens, twice....forget it. Not to mention our other battle cry, " wheres our waitress?" I guess we will never be able to get those "regular seats" because we will not be regulars there.

I recently made a return trip to the River Station with my fiancée. I am not one to write a review but after the repeated great service, great food and just a great experience; I just felt compelled to write one. I have fallen in love with so many items on the menu from a burger to a steak; but they offer so many more. The food is always touching a different sense and relaxing to sit and enjoy. I suggest this to anyone looking for a great meal! The staff is always pleasant and helpful. Every time we are there, they greet us with a smile and always focused on attention to detail when it comes to my order (yes I’m a very picky person!) It may be because of the atmosphere right on the Hudson with a great river view or even the friendly and helpful staff; (or the fact that I had a few drinks!) But all in all, this is our favorite restaurant to just grab a drink, have some apps or just sit down and enjoy a nice meal… Give it a try and you won’t be disappointed! Donnie

I recently ate here with a group of co-workers while on a business trip. When my food arrived I noticed that there was ketchup on my fries and my pickle appeared to have bitten into, needless to say I didnt each much of my food. When I got back to my hotel I was talking to one of the co-workers who was also at dinner and mentioned that my hamburger was not very good. He made the comment that he had one as well and ironically they gave him one with fries that he had started eating only to have the waitress grab the food from him and say that it wasnt his. When he pointed out that he had already eaten a few of the fries her comment was, thats OK theyll never notice. I am thankful that my co-worker appears to have been the one that ate my pickle but find the fact that the waitress knowingly gave me food someone had eaten rather disgusting. I also will not be eating here again if I am in town for another business trip.

My experience with this place. I did park my car in the parking lot and got it towed! Had to take a cab ride to go get my car before i had to get my kids off the bus. So, i was late and had to enlist a friend to help me with the kids and so i can get my car back! Went to a atm had to take $100 for the tow and money for the cab ride. Then told the cab driver not to leave me alone until i get into my car. Where they tow the car was scarey. I am a woman in the middle of poughkeepsie, alone. How do i know if i will be safe? This place, is a scam! Instead of getting a fine, i got my car towed. I will never refer them to anyone. Do not go here!

McDonalds or River Station...I chose River Station, I chose poorly!!! $34 Surf & Turfs name should be changed to Surf & Tough, the lobster tail was dried out and rubbery, the steak was thin, dry and well done, we asked for medium well. The hostess rolled her eyes, shook her head and said something under her breath when we asked about our table. The waitress was obnoxious and then tried to overcharge us. On a good note, when we arrived and had to wait 8 minutes for our hostess to return, a man was all smiles and offered free clam chowder. If you plan to spend $150 for a special family occasion, do yourself a favor, go elsewhere.

I had lunch here after walking the Walkway over the Hudson. It was a glorious, sunny day, very windy. The walk was invigorating and lunch at River Station was the perfect end to a perfect outing. Service was courteous, quick but not too fast! Food simple and well-prepared: I had the jalapeno-honey baked cod with its entourage of little boiled potatoes and grilled vegetables, perfectly cooked. For dessert I chose the bread pudding which was surprisingly light and not too sweet! My compliments to River Station Restaurant - hope to be back again!

Thought this place was great until I went there on a Sunday afternoon for some wings. I was told after eating my wings that the specials were only for customers drinking alcohol. Unfortunately, I didnt have a designated driver on this occasion so I wasnt going to start drinking. I paid for the wings and left after telling the waitress, "sorry I didnt know I had to get a DWI to eat wings here."
