What used to be a top notch bakery is now below par. I had happily used the Pastry Garden for many years and paid their expensive prices because I was very satisfied with their cakes. Two years ago I hosted a surprise 40th birthday party and of course ordered my cake from the Pastry Garden. It was delivered without being decorated with my requested, "Happy 40th Birthday XXX". There was no name on her cake and we didnt even know it until the cake was brought out. Talk about embarrassing!!! After complaining to them and finally convincing them that of course I provided the name of the birthday girl, they apologized and gave me a small credit. Last week we hosted another 40th birthday party for my youngest sister and ordered a $112 cake from the Pastry Garden, hoping it would be the superior quality that we have become accustomed to. Unfortunately, not the case. I heard comments from, "the cake tastes like play-doh" to "is this a Sara Lee?" to “this cake tastes funny.” When my sister called to complain that the cake was not good and very likely frozen, they apologized and informed her that our cake had been delivered without being decorated and they had to send someone out to our catering hall to decorate it there. How does a bakery forget to decorate a cake . . . as a standard problem, not a rare exception. I am highly disappointed with the Pastry Garden and I will no longer be purchasing from them; it’s time to try the Italian bakeries in Poughkeepsie.

I had a baby shower cake made last year in April 2015, and it was beautiful! Tasted so great, everyone seemed to enjoy it. My son is turning one, and I figured since the last cake turned out so great I would order from pastry garden again. Well, I called two weeks ahead of the party, and described what I wanted for the cake. Called back a few days later to find out my plan could not be found so a nice young lady took my order again. She was very polite and patient with our order. Must have been the manager who called me back to confirm I wanted Elmo drawn on my sons cake rather than Elmos face... I asked her politely what would work best on a cake that size, and she was just so rude for the rest of the conversation. Her attitude over the phone was nasty and I couldnt believe it. I was very disappointed to be treated like this after the fact the cakes cost came to $96.00. I wanted to make sure everything is right and hope that this cake comes out just as great as my first cake, because if not they have lost a customer.

Ordered a cake for my sons baptism. Cake color was supposed to be light blue and grey. Cake was navy blue and white. I also paid for delivery and was noted on the signed paperwork delivery would happen between 9-10am. I got the cake at 10:45am. I spoke to someone over the phone to find out where the cake was and told that the delivery window on the paperwork was wrong - they need 3-4 hours. Pretty poor communication given the time sensitivity of getting to the church for the baptism. Wouldnt recommend or order from again.

Had a custom birthday cake made from a picture I downloaded from the internet. The picture was pretty spot on, cake was made on time, pick up was easy.. and the taste? Delish! I will say this much, I used to get lemon cupcakes from Pastry Garden for my own birthday, and the last batch did not have enough lemon flavor. Cupcakes tasted more vanilla than lemon. Still yummy though.

Horrible experience with this bakery!!! I called 2 months in advance about a custom graduation cake and was told to call back a week before. It is now 9 days before my sons party and I am told it is too late???? Will never go to this bakery again but will go out of my way to inform others of this inexcusable treatment.

Really nice service! Today I ordered my gender reveal cake and it was a great experience, they were the only bakery who knew what a gender reveal cake was and they could have it done right by the party date. Also picked up some cupcakes which were great, super excited for my cake!

The most poorly managed place I have ever seen. The right hand does NOT know what the left hand is doing. And the management does NOT treat the employees nicely. Ive witnessed just plain meanness! A very unpleasant atmosphere and I would never go back!!

What an incredible pastry shop. I LOVE their ice cream cake and moose covered brownies. The staff is very helpful. I have been there for 5 different occasions now in 2017 and every purchase has been a hit.

Wouldve been a lovely cake, but they covered the writing with one of the plastic decorations! "Happ- ---thday Emma" is definitely not what we were hoping for after paying almost $70. Very disappointed.

Ordered a cake for my husbands birthday....we were charged an extra $28 for the balloon icing "decoration" on cake. Icing on cake was very thin. We expected A LOT more for what we paid!
