The Indian Road cafe is a classy place (a rare find in Inwood) this restaurant has a large selection of wines, food, drinks and warm beverages. It has a beautiful location and a very nice decor, but it fails to amaze for a number of reasons: - Too cold. Every time I go there its a different issue. Either the heat isnt set high enough, or somebody opened a door or a window, so im always too cold when I sit there (and im a 26 year old guy... the people I go with usually complain a lot more than me) - Average food. I know the menu looks good, but the food itself is average. Ive learned not to order anything hot there since the most frequently used tool in their kitchen is the microwave, I now stick with salads and sandwiches. Which are not bad - especially the curry chicken salad. However I wish the hot food was better (much better). - Trivia Night. you have got to be kidding me.. I sit there, having a nice conversation with a date and in the background theres some guy with a mic yelling out questions. This is NOT the kind of atmosphere I expect from a classy place like this. The only kind of entertainment that should be in a place like that is mild music played in the background (either piano, or a very soft- light jazz band or a string quartet) - Atmosphere. Dont get me wrong, the place is very lovely and the interior decorator did an OK job, but its just missing a few key elements. The lights are always too bright, the pictures on the walls need to be reorganized and put in similar frames, and the music needs to be more genre specific (right now they just put on one album and let it play). Anyway, dont get me wrong.. the Indian Road Cafe is a lovely place and a GREAT addition to the neighborhood, but it could be SO much better, and hopefully - it will be!

My family and I ate there yesterday, which was a Saturday. While we waited to be seated several waiters kept looking at us and passing us by. We waited so long we decided to leave and having waiters just look at us and not say anything seemed incredibly rude. Just as we were about to leave we were approached to be seated. Since we were hungry, we decided to stay. The waitress that came to take our order was rude and not friendly. The restaraunt does not offer real lunch options until something like after 4 or 5 pm which is very odd. So you are stuck with a brunch menu until then. I ordered a pulled pork sandwhich which was very bland and not very good. My daughters Quesadilla was a combo of cheese and flatbread.--nothing like a real quesadilla as she wanted chicken inside it. I feel like this place cuts corners. Charges more than what the food is worth. The place is cute and I do like that it is vegan friendly and organic however, the staff needs better training in regards to customer service and the food needs to improve greatly.

My husband and I came here a few times because we live in the area and the coffee is decent (and they make espresso drinks with nondairy milk if you ask). But after our last visit we probably wont be back. We were annoyed because our fairly pricy coffee was only lukewarm, and the girl at the counter was semi-rude to us (although I have to say the staff has always been pleasant in the past). They also have a "biscuits and gravy" dish on the menu and we asked if we could order just the biscuits, but they told us no. I understand that not all places are accommodating about menu changes like that, but I feel like when you charge that much for food, Id appreciate a little more accomodation than we got. No way that dish was pre-made or anything, so Im not sure what the issue was. I want to like this spot because the the location is great, but Ive ended up thinking its just not worth it.

Inwood itself already feels like a world unto itself- a Twin Peaks reboot/ripoff could easily be set here. The Indian Road Café happens to be *the* neighborhood haunt. Its like something out of a film or sitcom- it has the feel and familiarity of Friends Central Perk or Seinfelds Diner, The Sopranos Satriales (or even the Bing? Without the dancers of course...although, that could be a workable business model, and perhaps something like that may well exist East of Broadway), and dare I say, Cheers... Great food. Great coffee. Great service. Oh, yeah- they have a pretty awesome trivia night to boot. Even when I didnt live in the neighborhood and just came up[up--up]town for CU baseball/football games, Id always stop in to Indian Road Cafe. Heck, Id by lying if I said the Indian Road didnt play a part in my partner and I moving in to the neighborhood. So, yeah. Go check it out.

I was so excited when the cafe opened in our neighborhood. We live right down the block. When they first opened, the menu and food was simple, but good. At some point, they changed chefs. The menu is more complex and varied. However, since that time, I feel that the food has gone down hill. Recently, we have had dinner there on 3 separate occasions. The food was OK, but certainly not great. My mother-in-laws dish was cold and had to be reheated in a microwave. The dishes looked sloppy and the flavor combination were not well balanced. I am disappointed in this slow negative change and implore the owners to rethink the menu. Offering less complicated, more basic, simple dishes with high quality ingredients that are well thought out would be my recommendation. I do not pretend to be an expert, but I am a customer and neighbor and want to support this local business.

The lobster mac and cheese plate is delicious! They give you a pretty good portion. Not so much lobster, but the tasty and creamy mac and cheese helps out with that. The skirt stake was amazing. Its not a foodys portion, but you wont leave hungry. The mashed potatoes with truffle oil that comes with the steak is to die for. Rich in every bite. We had a carafe of rose to drink. Its enough for one big wine glass for two. Nice and cool. I had a machiatto for desert before heading out. It was pure coffee. Yummy. Not the franchise sweet type. If youre into extra suger, it might not be for you. Although you can add extra sugar. They had live piano being played. Nice ambiance. Make sure to not wear fancy clothes to party after. You leave smelling like food. And if you have Wendy as your server, you will have great service, for sure. A gem that you dont expect to find uptown

I love this place for brunch. The guy who plays the piano is great and theyre very kid friendly. The food at brunch is good and you can get bottomless mimosas. But some specials would be nice to change things up and as far as the mimosas go, youre kind of at the mercy of the staff as to if theyre going to bring you another one. Service is usually good, but has sucked at times too. The dinner menu is also great and changes with the seasons. Lots of local/organic/vegetarian stuff. The lobster mac and cheese is to die for, but they really should reduce the portion size and maybe serve it with some greens. Its very rich. The wine/beer list is very good and better now that they have a few tap beers. c=Cant beat the coffee bar up front for a nice cup on your way to the park. They also get points for having a changing table in the bathroom.
