Just came here with my husband for the first time yesterday. I LOVED this place while we were there. Super cute and cozy with a real old school feel. Service was amazing (came around every few minutes or so asking if we wanted more coffee) and food tasted great. Wait wasnt too bad considering it was a Sunday for late breakfast/early lunch rush. I got the rainbow cookie pancakes and my husband got the biscuits and gravy. This is why I so badly wanted to rate this place with flying colors. Unfortunately when I started to munch on my leftovers a few hours after I got home, I took a bite or something super hard and had to spit it out. I assumed maybe just a burnt piece of pancake of something like that. What I discovered was this rock solid (I couldnt even break it in half) and super sharp piece of either plastic or ceramic? Thank god I didnt swallow that or I would be in the ER. After that I couldnt finish my leftovers. In the trash they went. Sad because I really wanted to love this place but whatever was in my food was not safe at all and very dangerous. Id at least hope that it fell in the pancake mix while being cooked and that it wasnt in there while everything was being stirred since it would have created a pretty big lump and very noticeable. So for the combined amazing service of the place, plus great tasting food I would give it 5 stars, for almost sending me the ER its getting knocked down to two. Hopefully management keeps a better eye on the kitchen safety.

It would have been five stars based on the great atmosphere that vibes in this place. This small business seems to have well understood the restaurant business. In detail, we came in for a breakfast and ordered 2 different omelettes. Portions were generous and employees were attentive. Owner knew most costumers by name. All of them seemed to be enjoying their breakfast. Coffee was very good and there were daily specials on the board, but only cash is accepted so not very convenient. Menu could be little expanded to include some fresh fruits...

I was definitely pleasantly surprised by the food and service when I first came here and continued to be amazed. The outside of this place looks questionable as I heard before looks can be deceiving. I ordered the huevos rancheros which was delicious! The second time around we ordered the red velvet pancakes and they were amazing!!! Definitely recommend to come early there can be a wait. Which is worth waiting. Also the staff all are very friendly.

Wooohoooo! I went here yesterday, then came back again today! Someone in the kitchen actually cares about their food and Im grateful; hard to find a cheap place to eat these days with good food. The sliced chicken sandwich with eggplant and asparagus was great, so was the Reuben. Check the specials chalkboard for fun stuff like cranberry chicken salad stuffed avocado or a yummy crab and corn soup.

Breakfast was deLISH! I had the special on the board, a western style omelet topped with sausage gravy & real home style home fries. Only reason I didnt give 5 stars was they tried to pass off a toasted buttered hamburger bun for a cheddar biscuit & I was really looking forward to that cheddar biscuit. Other than that the food & service was great!

The Cook Room has got the greatest variety of menus for breakfast as well as lunches. I absolutely love their croissant french toast and their different types of pan cakes with a warm cup of coffee. It is cool place with an old style diner and a great place for breakfast! Hoping to try their lunches the next time when Im around middle Island.

Long long waiting time. I ordered a take out and understand it was peak hour but over 40 minutes waiting is still unacceptable. Also the cook has a horrible attitude when people questioning about their order. If they cannot handle peak hours they should really expend their kitchen instead of irritating customers.

Love this little place. Nice and quiet, never too busy, the staff are friendly and welcoming, and the food is delicious. Their biscuits and gravy are my favorite, but their corned beef hash is right up there too. Love this quiet little breakfast spot. I definitely recommend it.

I eat here quite often and everything I have tried so far has been absolutely delicious. Cookroom is now a favorite of mine and I make it a point to introduce my family and friends to this excellent place. I cant compliment the staff enough, they are wonderful.

there is blond old lady with a wasted outfit as a "waitress" who throws menu over you table without any sort of salutation. She is rude all the time. There is an old guy with white hair who takes care of bills, he is extremely nice. food is great.

First impression I thought the prices was too expensive but the amount of food that came out compensated the cost. Was not happy with the mother which I believe is the owner, needs an attitude adjustment. Home fries need some seasoning

Ive visited often in the past, this morning the quality was off, omelette was overcooked, I dont ever like the hashbrowns and you arent allowed substitutions.
