Where do I begin... There was a small group of us looking for a place to get a bite to eat and a few drinks...every place in downtown Ithaca was jammed with over an hour wait. But your place seemed kind of accessible which I thought was unusual for being the holiday weekend. We walked in ad did not get greeted for a long time...such that I walked through the establishment to get an idea of whether we should stay or go. There were a couple of empty tables and some vacant barstools but not enough to accommodate the five of us I noticed an empty booth in the back of the place, and thought great we can all sit there. I walked back to the entryway and happened on the hostess or someone who worked there who could have been. I approached her as she was telling my group it would be about 15 mins for us to sit. I then quickly informed her of the empty booth for which she checked out and came back and said there were still personal effects there, and that was not available. So wait we did for a table to clear out and she quickly cleared and sat us there. we waited for at least 10 mins for the server to come and greet us...Shannon was his name...pretty quiet and reserved. he began to take our order and spilled water and ice in one of our partys beer. To which he went to go get a replacement. after being gone for quite a while he returned with a replacement beer. we all had decided to order to capitalize on hhis presence. we all order food and drinks. he then disappeared...for an eternity it seemed. After 10 plus mins I got up to check on the status of the drinks and saw them sitting on the bar...waiting for attention. shared with the bartender that those were ours and asked that they be served...he then finally brought the drinks....then another eternity for the salads,,,,then all the food came out all at once. soups and entrees together. The five onion soup was extremely salty and was inedible. The garbage platter came with a mac and cheese which lacked much flavor at all. The black and tan onion rings were just plain onion rings with what appeared to be food coloring striping the exterior of the rings. All the while we are sitting there thinking that there was a reason for the place being so empty...that the food and service was lacking. Then Shannon returned and I quite frankly asked him how long he had been a server...his reply was not very long (this was his third night) Which I shared with him that it showed and that he had not been properly trained...and that for them(management) to allow him to work like that showed a lack of preparedness and understanding of food service. He asked how everything was and I tried to be gentle but outlined where the problems lied. While we were there, we watched 3-4 different parties who just walked out due to the lack of being greeted or tended to at all. There was a party of 8 people who had ben there before we arrived who waited at least 20 minutes after we got seated, and then walked out. There is no reason why this restaurant is not a goldmine, except that it was being run by either a bunch of novice individuals, or incompetent managers. I just wanted to share ths feedback with you cause t shows that this place is owned by an absentee owner and that the people who are running it are not doing a good job. I am sorry for being long winded, but being in a customer service business (as well growing up in the restaurant business)...and can safely say that if it were my business...I would want to know.

I recently ate a lunch with my family at Kilpatricks. The atmosphere was very nice and seating was roomy. Our waiter was on point and provided us with good service. There was an incident in the kitchen which caused our food to be delivered in stages after 40 minutes of waiting. The overall quality of the meal was very good, especially my wifes brie. Due to the way the food was produced by the kitchen staff, the manager was requested. He arrived promptly and explained that he had an incident in the kitchen and apologized for the delay. He then comped the entire meal! I did not expect this nor was it requested. He was genuinely sorry and went above and beyond what I expected. We felt bad for our waiter as he was visibly embarrassed by the kitchens issue. He did receive his full tip!! I would like to commend the manager as he remained very professional and didnt blame anyone by name for whatever had happened. I would definitely eat there again due to the good food and the managements concern for happy customers..

Actually we have been going there for years. They always have a decent selection of beers on tap. Weve had some decent meals there. Yesterdays visit was not so good. Our waitress was hey sweetheart and very conscientious. She informed us of the fact there is a new chef. And that he is trying to incorporate more "fresh" ingredients. Fresh is great, if its cooked well. My fish and chips was pretty bad. The coding was so bad I peeled it all off. And I received five chips. Thats right not four, not six, five. I was not aware there was another potato famine. My wifes steak was way overcooked. Other than the food, we had a nice time and stayed at our table and visited. It was a slow night for the restaurant. Perhaps after some growing pains, the chef may improve.

Slow kitchen. Good food and service except if you expect lunch in the outside seating! After letting the bartender know I was going to be dining outside he said he would let the waitress know. Ten minutes later I went inside and told the bartender/manager that a ten minute wait was TOo LONG , especially at 12:07pm. There were about six customers eating Im the restaurant. So now in addition! To slow kitchen I am adding slow and/or non-existent service.

Kilpatricks has a warm and relaxing atmosphere, where you can kick it back with your date or friends and enjoy some drinks. Its less crowded after the dinner hours especially around 8pm on a weeknight. Its actually not a horrible place for a small family either. There are three booths with cable tv on small flat screens kinda nice. Its really enjoyable on a cold snowy night to sit by the fire and have some good food and drink.

What a fun experience! I went for the first time in September with a group of friends and we really enjoyed it. Just wish there was a better option for parking. I had the shepherds pie and it was AMAZING. Our server was really nice and handled our large group of 12 with ease. He even took a photo of the group for us. Would DEFINITELY go back. Wish I had room for dessert!

Party of 4. Slow and rude server. We waited over an hour for 2 kids raviolis and 2 brisket sandwiches. We were never refilled on drinks, although we asked twice. The restaurant was not even full. It took another 20 minutes after we asked for our check to actually receive it. Avoid this place if you want timely service!!!
