The Best Italian Restaurant In Westchester with the most affable, gracious host owner! Forget about taking a plane to Italy, you can have the best Italian food right here in Irvington, Westchester, New York. Owner Wil Winstanely is so friendly you feel you have known him for years! Elegantly appointed with Italian landscape pictures you get the both the feel of a friendly trattoria and the sophistication of a ristorante. There is an outdoor patio and you can book an event or party in their fantastic wine. And now lets talk about the fantastic food! The Mediterranean flavors are prepared simply, so that the essence of the ingredients shines through. The tagliatell alla boscaiola was outstanding and try, the best chicken dish , the petti di pollo al funghi e olive nere which is Chicken scaloppine with mushroom and black olive sauteed in a light marsala wine sauce. And....and now they have a new Happy Hour and small plates menu. and now they are serving, hot direct from their real, Italian-made, authentic Brick Oven (no gas just real wood burning here!) unique Pizzas Watch out local pizza stores, Dont be surprised if Il Sorriso gets voted BEST PIZZA of Weschester. Have the Pizza with real Prosciutto di Parma and arugula. Sample the thin crust, olive-oil, ricotta pizza......mmmmmmm! Just talking about this makes me want to leave work now and go for some great local food now! Enjoy! ================================================ BY FAR THE BEST WESTCHESTER ITALIAN Trattoria... they have completly redone the place, added a wood burning pizza area and redorated! Horray the MURAL IS GONE and the FOOD REMAINS OUTSTANDING!! They have a great $5 martini offering on Tues and Wed and a great weekday HAPPY HOUR with complimentary antipasti at the bar/lounge area.. This is NOT your grandmas old Il Sorriso. hip and with outstanding food and ambience!

My family and I dined there about 10 times since moving to Irvington. We kept giving it another try, but were done. The last time, for my birthday dinner, I ordered grilled lobster that came half-cooked (center was raw). It took them 45 minutes to bring me another one when they could have simply grilled that one and gotten it right. Or they could have gotten it right the first time. By that time my family had finished dinner...The service is almost negligently slow. If youre an old duffer who wants the early-bird and you dont mind waiting to get "okay" food thats overpriced, this place is for you. Ill keep going to Mima instead.

This place stands way above most Westchester Italian restaurants.. Fablulous foods, great happy hour and drink specials. Recently the place and menu have been updated and still great food at reasonable prices. They recently received a Best of Westchester Award for their patio, they should also receive it for the quality and consistency of their authentic Italian food and for their BRICK-OVEN-FWOOD oven pizzas.. the absolute best!...Great place for a party, lunch or dinner.. Were going to become regulars here!

We use to live in Irvington and LOVED II Sorriso. We continue to go back to meet friends for many years. Last night we had a terrible experience and sadly we will never go back there again. The food is mediocre, the service unprofessional and the wine list very overpriced. The waiter tried the "bait and switch", but my husband has a wine cellar so they picked the wrong customer. The menus are laminated (like a diner). Our guess is that the restaurant was sold (again) and the quality is gone.

I had made a reservation one hour in advance online but upon my arrival they told me that I didnt make a reservation. Looking around I noticed that the place was completely empty and asked for a table. To my surprise, they refused to seat our party without a reservation, insisting that they were completely booked. I dont like to leave reviews based on the service alone, but they left us no choice. No food, no stars.

Have been there 3 times now hoping that the service somehow improves. The food is mediocre at best.The waiter actually asked us if we had any type of coupons or if we revered the table through an online service. When I said no and asked why, he said "those people dont tip good and Im not taking a table that doesnt tip good." This place needs an overhaul!

Loved this place. the food was the best. Our waiter Chris was so accommodating. The drinks were fantastic. The view of the Hudson was off the chart. We met the owner who was a class act all the way. Cant wait to return on a warm night so that we can sit outside and enjoy all that this beautiful restaurant has to offer.

I was looking for a restaurant to hold a rehearsal dinner at. Being from CA i had to rely on other for suggestions. I am so glad I was directed here! William and his staff did an amazing job! The private room in the back had amazing views! Everyone loved the food.

Very good dinner with parents. Servers were very pleasant and accommodating. Calamari had "legs" which is a good sign. Could have been more crispy. My linguine with clam and shimp along with my BF chicken contidina were excellent Go here for a nice dinner!

On December 12, 2013 - Had an early dinner with a 2 year old and the food and service were fabulous! They were very helpful dealing with a hungry toddler, and very patient in taking our order. The food was great - will be back very soon!

Food was excellent but wait staff was terrible. Did not offer dessert menu. When we asked for it, it never arrived. Ended up chasing our waiter down for our check. Would go again but really cant deal with the poor service.
