I have been coming here 2-4 times a week for the past 2 years. the coffee is wonderful, the employees are friendly and professional and dont scoff when you ask for minor alterations to your drink (eg extra hot, spicy, etc). My personal favorite is the New Mexican Mocha. I think I may be one of the only people who get that particular drink as initially the barista seemed surprised someone was ordering it. I order it extra spicy because that is how I used to make it myself and I am always pleased with my drink. The atmosphere is relaxed, the decor enjoyable, and the music interesting and varied. This is my neighborhood coffee shop and I do not go anywhere else (unless it is early on a weekend) and I will miss it dearly when I move away. I highly recommend anyone to visit.

Ill start off by saying that I am an ice cream enthusiast and this place has ice cream that is off the chain! I really like that they let you sample the various flavors and they encourage it! Its not those cheap little samples; they give you a decent spoonful. The decor is nice and welcoming; you could stay here for a few and get some work done even though its quite cramped. I had the cookies and cream in a cone and it was delicious. My only complaint is the prices! For one scoop, its about $5 or a little more I believe. Im a logical thinker so, with that amount of money, I could go but a container of ice cream lol. Nonetheless, I guess youre paying for quality and the experience.

I dont often frequent sweet shoppes, but it was hot the other day, and I wanted something cold and delicious. Van Leeuwen was a good answer. They have a root beer float on the menu, which was good. The soda jerk (Is soda jerk a masculine term? Should I be saying soda jerk-ette?) was skeptical that I wanted a blended black cow. But I convinced her that it would be tasty, which it was. It was a hot weekend, and they were out of several flavors, which is a negative. But the record player was playing Sam Cooke, which was a big positive. Van Leeuwen also had the feel of an olde tyme shoppe, which I liked. Hooray for summer, and hooray for delicious frozen treats!

Why do I have to stare at Obama on the coffee machine while I drink my fantastic Cortado? As I sipped I read that phone-support for Obamacare has been outsourced to India - no domestic hiring of the young people he wants to help support this _____ plan. Then the NYT leads off with "Patients Costs Skyrocket; Specialists Incomes Soar". People come there to relax.... why not show concern for ALL your customers and remove the paste-ups from your coffee machine....please?

This is not a review of the store, but of the management. I kid not: there was a not-short line, one young lady working it, and three young men behind the counter, just talking amongst themselves. Ready? It gets worse. When they realized that people were unhappy they addressed the problem by moving the conversation to outside the front door. I hear the ice cream here is great. I wouldnt know.

I love the concept of using as feew ingredients as possible and this shop does just that. Perhaps its because I have traveled a few places and I can recognize when a place is using what I term substandard items. Particularly old butter, old eggs. Whatever it was I didnt think this ice cream was all that.

Hands down the best ice cream ever. I had some from the truck in Downtown Los Angeles and came to this location when visiting a family member around the corner. The prices may be a bit steep but who is counting when it comes to dessert!! Come try their ice cream!

Great local Boerum Hill coffee shop, friendly staff, excellent cold brew and Granola Lab yogurt granola. my ideal spot for pulling out my laptop for a morning coffee and then to return for my evening vegan ice cream! (Bonus- stellar music on the record player).

All of their ice cream is very creamy and good quality. The flavors are unique but I think it tends to be a hit or miss depending on your taste preferences. Cute and cozy shop and right next to the Bergen St train stop so uber convenient.

Prices are high, service is slow, really slow + the place is too tiny. They need to have those foil insulated bags for to go orders of their ice cream in pints ($9/pint). Two pints melted before I walked the ten blocks home. VL Fail.

Really good coffee here and the ice cream is delicious (try the Earl Gray!). The space is super cute, too. Downsides: the wait in the mornings can be super long -- and they are cash-only. But the Mexican Mocha is really tasty.

So good, so yummy and so worth an extra five pounds! There is a reason this place has a line 50 people deep at 11 oclock at night! Best ice cream in town and always a perfect way to end a night trolling around South Congress!

The ice cream here is out of this world with inventive flavors. Impressive vegan flavors too for those who are lactose intolerant. Full espresso bar brewing Tobys Estate coffee. Accepts credit card via Square.

The ice cream flavors are phenomenal. Loved the early grey flavor. I am a tea lover and I was not too sure when I heard of it, but it was very tasty and complemented the pistachio scoop very nicely.

Good coffee. Even better ice cream! It comes off as a typical hipster coffee shop (complete with $9 Mast Brothers chocolate bars), but they actually do serve a quality product with friendly service.

Cute place, great ice cream with vegan options and quick service. I had the espresso ice cream and the regular size was plenty. I bought one regular and one child size, total was ten bucks.

Your basic ice cream, sold at a higher price than the best gelati in the city. It neither has strong flavors nor it feels particularly fresh. I would rather go to a different shop.

The ice cream is lovely but the owner of the company was a pompous jerk. Despite the quality of the product, Ben Van Leeuwens nasty attitude has ruined the experience for me.

Good ice cream, but expensive. I count on this location to get some coffee after other shops are already closed (its not as consistent, but its better than bodega coffee).

One of my favorites! They have really great dairy free ice creams and amazing flavors! Really happy to find a natural alternative without food coloring and bad additives!

This is always a hit when I bring friends from out of town. The flavors are interesting, some might depend on your taste preference. Good vegan options too.

Offers both dairy and vegan ice cream! Staffed by some charismatic employees. Great place to sit and eat a cone while taking a break from the heat.

An amazing shop with inventive flavors and easy but beautiful design. My friends and I all shared flavors, with plenty of other flavors to try!

Best regular ice cream (not including gelato) that I have had since moving to New York. They also have good vegan flavors for those so inclined.
