Nargis has been around for a while now and has expanded into a couple of neighboring storefronts. This shows that they have a dedicated following and there is a reason for that. The food here is pretty standard fare for this type of restaurant, but it is executed well and tastes great. All of the meat is cooked well without being burned and still maintains an excellent level of tenderness. The spices used are there in good proportion, and the sides are flavorful. The prices are very reasonable and you are welcome to bring your own wine and spirits (though keep in mind they will charge you a corkage fee). The only negative about this place is really their success. They are frequently packed and you really need to have reservations if you want to sit down with a moderate to large group (more than four). Even with a reservation you will frequently have to wait for a little while before they can get you a table. Ive also experienced the wait staff rushing us out because they needed to clear the table for another reservation. This was done politely, but rather firmly. I appreciate the fact that they need to accommodate the reservations theyve made, but perhaps rushing people before theyve even asked for their check is a being a tad too pushy (as well as rushing the ordering, clearing away things before we were ready, etc). As Ive mentioned, this is a busy place and you should be ready to deal with the consequences of their popularity. Try to aim for off-peak hours if you want to sit back and lounge around for a while. Youll have more time to savor your food and company that way.

Awesome place I went to Nargis Café in Brooklyn today , I was skeptical about going to this place as I thought it will be filled with Russians and usually they are loud, unwelcoming and rude especially for English speaking people (Usually and not all of them) But this place was not like places in Kings Highway or Crospsey Ave. This was a by far the best Uzbek restaurant in southern Brooklyn the kebobs were plain awesome, the whole experience was so positive that I am writing about it with full stomach. Their food is close to Arabic, Turkish and Russian (Southern Asian food) Grilled meat mainly lamb and salads with lots of pickled veggies We went and had to wait around 30 minutes for a table, the girl who greeted us was really nice, Once we went to our table an extremely nice waitress came and asked us if we needed any drinks, she recommended food and came couple of other times with a really nice smile that made us feel welcomed there. The staff was awesome as I said from the door in until we left everyone was really nice to the point I could not believe how nice is their staff. Check came 34.88 for two people with food that I thought was enough for 3 I ordered a salad, Two appetizers 2 skewers of chicken kebob, one of lamb and lulya kebob or what Arabs call it Kofta , ohh I forgot the tea (the check had the 7% service fee, end up leaving 20%+ because I thought just leaving another 13% was not enough especially for a nice staff like this) So basically it was an awesome experience I highly recommend this place

Authenticity: 3 star Good food: 3.5 star (not great) Service: 2.5 4 of us arrived on a Monday afternoon to try some (we were kinda hyped) uzbek food, and we were disappointed... To start out, I have been to Eastern Europe many times, and had the opportunity to try some great uzbek & Russian food, so I know how authentic uzbek cuisine should taste like; this place aint it! Period... For example, lets take a simple dish, the chebureki: where was the juicy meat in the middle? Or the flavor of the meat?? And what about the flavor of the dough?? They seriously want me to believe that this is how it tastes like in moscow? Saint Petersburg? Kiev? The same was with The samsa and the bread (non), they were tasteless compared to the Russian "authentic" standards... The closest thing to authentic on the menu, - and better than average - was the chalop (Sour milk soup), but even this was watered down... Regarding the service here, the waitress simply couldnt explain the menu to us! because she hardly spoke any English... Smh! Also we had to wait too long for dishes to come out, even had to remind my waitress twice what we ordered... Bottom line: if you are looking for something a "bit" different, and a "tiny bit" above average food, then welcome! welcome! make yourself comfortable, and enjoy the meal, but if.... Dusvidaniya, and I dont think Ill be back. (maybe for a slice of their neapolon)

Oh i so wish if they had one in the South as well :) Was introduced to this Uzbek spot by a friend and my O my it was the best fresh food ive had in a long long while. I have to start with the SERVICE it is amazing and they go all out to make sure you are taken care off. Got seated pretty fast , noticed if its just 2 its easier to get a table if more than 2 you will have to wait. Food- Bread was brought as soon as we seated and we started off with the nargis salad and uzbek lamb palao. One of the freshest salads ive had and tasty, every vege in the salad was fresh and perfect. The palao tasted amazing and the lamb meat was mouth watering. We then ordered some Grill items, chicken on bone was the special for today, regular chicken, beef skewers and lamb. Every item was mouth watering and you had to order more and more. Best part bout this place are the prices, which is very resonably priced you would expect it would be more expensive oh no everything is under 5$. Enjoy this and hopefully they open more around the country.

I will never, ever set foot in this vile, disgusting place. The waitress was a truly nasty, unprofessional woman, filthy and hair flowing with a nasty attitude. The food I ordered smelled bad. The kebabs smelled rancid and rocky in texture. I wonder if the health department ever looked at their kitchen. The putrid smell and nasty attitude of this place make it a most undesirable place to be. The rice was uncooked and smelled like fungus. My sons stomach was so upset that I ended up in hospital. Beware readers of this scabby dive. Never, ever. But only in America such lousy crooks survive. I wonder of it is a restaurant or a money laundering joint for the underlings. If they are human beings, they should refund my $150- immediately, because I left food uneaten after this nasty experience..I wonder if this place is run by professionals or by a bunch of scum. I will have this place investigated by US Attorney for crime/fraud.
