Qathra is the hipster outpost of Ditmas Park. Its the quintessential artisanal New York City coffee shop/cafe. What could better convey the transitional period of the neighborhood? (Mimis Humus perhaps?) There is some good food here but it is most definitely double $$, pushing on $$$ dollar sign. It use to be cash only and there is still an ATM on-site. The coffee-obsessed barista has both soy and almond milk for that expresso or Caffè Americano (god forbid you call it anything else). Portions are small so be warned if you think this could be a suitable spot for a hearty dinner. Ive had a few different dishes here plus coffee, tea, hot coco and some pastries. The humus plate and chipotle egg dishes are tasty and the coffee is very good (though I am not picky about my hot bean water). The pastries are good too, although expensive. Outdoor seating is an added bonus and service usually runs between a little slow and kinda fast. If you prefer a less yuppie coffee stop you can always head to the Connecticut Muffin just three doors down or Catskill Bagel only a few blocks East.

I hate you, then I love you. Then I love you, then I hate you. This is how I feel about Qathra. Celine always knows how to sum it up in a song, ay. Qathra is this cute little hipster spot on Cortelyou and it fits right in with the attitude and vibe of the neighborhood. My first hate is because its cash only. (It makes me rage... ) I have a love hate relationship with the food. Some dishes are truly sexy, comforting and hearty while others are super meh, bland and you know, nothing to write home about. Like this morning, my Mediterranean eggs with Zaatar were delicious but my friends egg dish had frozen portobello mushrooms. (As if they forgot to defrost it and just dumped it on the plate) who does that? They do have outdoor seating which is awesome when the weather is nice. And the price to portion ratio is perfect. So yes Qathra. I hate you, then I love you. Then I love you, then I hate you.

We love Qathra! My daughter and I come every weekend for a nice early breakfast together (I love that its open so early). I love Laptop Free Weekends. The food is great... and quick. Ideal with a young kid. The yard is wonderful -- though my daughter misses the fountains with the plastic ducks! But the fact that there is more shade is great. The only thing I would change is... Please add a diaper changing table (fold down would be fine) in the bathroom -- I hate changing a baby on the floor!

Hipster overload. Pretty good breakfast sandwich (needed salt and maybe a shot of Tabasco) and very good pastries. Coffee was fine but not worth the time taken. On a weekday morning pretty much every table was occupied by laptop-glued patrons basically camping out, so getting a table was difficult, even though nearly all tables had only one person at it. Overall, prefer Madelines down the block, though prices here are better (read: Madelines is more overpriced.)

This is a cute cafe in my neighborhood that I go to sometimes when I want a latte in the morning or to have breakfast with my out of town guests. They have good coffee and their breakfast items are pretty tasty. Remember to get a rewards card so you can get a free coffee after buying 10 coffees. They have a nice outdoor patio in the back to sit when the weather is warm. Just a tip - this place is cash only and ask for the wi-fi password.

This is the only Coffee I actually like. Im not a coffee drinker at all, so when I have some it is usually just for the caffeine. Whenever I am near hear however I have some because I can enjoy it. I actually got the chance to see their brewing process for cold brew and man, is it extensive. The food is always awesome and I, nor my friends and family, whom I have invited to visit, have ever been disappointed. Strongly recommended.

great vibe. great coffee. havent eaten the food yet but it looks and smells good. workers are charming and kind. backyard can turn into something of a rowdy day care area reminiscent of park slope. also spotted a kid riding his scooter through the place and it seemed ok with the parents. if you can live with the possibility of being around that, its a great place to do work and chill with friends.

Today is saturday and they dont allow laptops before 3pm. They let me buy a drink and food, and once i was sitting with my laptop and food and drink, they told me i couldnt use my laptop. Had to leave immediately because i have work to do and wasnt going to take their food and drink to another coffee shop. So basically i wasted my money, my food and my drink.

This place is amazing! The guys here are really great! They are very friendly, professional and courteous. The food is amazing and the Latte? Just what you need! Lol. Lets not forget the atmosphere. A nice cozy place inside, and then (for those nicer weather days), a great relaxing backyard. Overall? Very amazing cafe shop in Brooklyn!

Super trendy and chill vibe. From the raw wood counter to the brightly-colored and plant-filled backyard, you can tell that Qathra cares about aesthetics. Theres ample seating inside and outside and its perfect for a small group. The coffee menu isnt huge but the prices are decent and the coffee quality is great! Try it out!

Good place. For me the nicest things are the decor and the sit-out at the back + the amazing Home-made Almond Croissant. $3.25 a piece and the best Ive eaten so far - period. Frankly, this whole review is really about that croissant. Must try those croissants fresh. Coffee, food etc are good too.

I came there one Sunday to study with my laptop in tow. After ordering someone comes up to me and says theres (a tiny) sign on the counter that says no laptops before 3pm! What kind of coffee shop has that rule?? Needless to say I picked up my stuff and will never return to that coffee shop again.

I like Qathra because I like Americanos, and Qathra knows their way around an Americano. Its priced about what youd expect for a bougie sit-down cafe on Cortelyou road- a little less so than Cafe Madeline down the street. Its my go-to in the area if I want quality coffee, and the backyard is nice.

Awesome coffee roast, delicious bakery, and gourmet menu selection combined with friendly service and a cozy atmosphere. Good for to go orders, sit down with friends, or a comfortable place to read or get some work done. Be mindful, no laptops permitted on weekends.

Horrible customer service!! Super hot in the summer. No air conditioner and lets be honest coffee is not great. Try coffee mob instead, which are super sweet and most of all have the best coffee around. Another good place is Madeline.

Ugh, the weekends here have become so unpleasant. All the crowding of brunch spots, but with no waiters and overworked and stressed out staff. Be a cafe or a restaurant, but this middle ground is no fun.

My latte, made by the dude with the stylish glasses, was simply phenomenal. The micro-foamed milk was perfect, as was the design he poured it in. This place is the real deal. I will be back.
