Short form: not set up to do take-out well, despite their claims; would not try again. Eat-in appears better. Excruciating detail: Thought I would swing by this place on my way from work one night to pick up dinner to take home. They have a separate take-out menu, and I phoned in my order before leaving. They answered, and took the order, name, and phone # - no particular confusion apparent, and said it would be ready to pick up in ~45 minutes. About 40 minutes later, I get there, go to the take-out registers in the back (right in front of the kitchen). The woman working the register finds the record of my order without problems. I pay, get a receipt, and they tell me it will be ready in a few minutes - all normal so far. After waiting 10 more minutes, I ask again when there is a break at the register.. and heres where things start to go bad. She goes back to the pass-through, looks around, and comes back saying she has no idea about my order, where it might be - and what was it that I was having again? I tell her, she says it will be just about 10 more minutes, and go back to waiting. 10 minutes later, the same woman notices I am still standing there waiting.. She asks if Ive ordered yet. At this point, I get the sinking feeling that this isnt going to end well. I tell her that Im long past ordering, have already paid and am waiting for food, so she takes my receipt and disappears back into the chaos of the kitchen. She returns, sans receipt, and says she cant find my order again (guessing they perhaps gave it to someone else), and I would I like to place it again? At this point, I declined, not ready for a third go-around, saying I would just like my money back. Unfortunately, now I dont have a receipt, so she needs to go find her manager... Another 10 minutes, and they locate the receipt (thankfully), and the manager is able to return my money. She does realize that its been a mess, and without prompting, offers a gift card for the hassle (which I decline). I ordered chinese delivery on my phone on the walk home, and it was there 15 minutes later; lesson learned. I would note that all the employees there are reasonable, and seem to be doing their best to do their job - its just a hectic place, and clearly some significant gaps in the way that they track orders through the take-out process. I would not recommend the experience to anyone hoping for an easy or efficient meal, but there did seem to be a large number of folks enjoying eating there, presumably with the waitstaff keeping watch on their orders on the way through the chaos of the kitchen.

Im so disappointed. I would have actually enjoyed my rib and brisket plate quite a bit if it wasnt barely lukewarm. And it had nothing to do with the time it took to get from the kitchen. My order came out very fast. That means it was lukewarm IN the kitchen. Not cool... not cool at all. I really like the fact that you get two nice sized sides included with your meal. The collards were decent and quite spicy. Almost too much spice vs. flavor. I wanted to taste some smokey turkey in the greens. It would have made it just like how my Mom used to make it. If they cant manage to get the flavor out of the turkey, they should just go whole hog and put in a ham hock. Collard greens just dont have enough flavor on their own and need all the help they can get. The St. Louis pork ribs and the brisket were smokey and juicy. No need to add sauce at all. They would have been perfect if they had be served at the proper temperature. The included cornbread is good but on the small side. Its a step above Jiffy. Not overly sweet and with a nice cornmeal crunch to it. Also on the plus side, the Donkey Punch was tasty with a good kick. I did not like the Mac & Cheese. It was the first thing I tried and it had this weird sweetness to it. It was sprinkled with paprika, but I dont recall paprika being sweet. It managed to be creamy without being greasy, but it didnt have a proper cheese flavor. Again, disappointed. I dont know... maybe they had an off day. It was Valentines Day and they were quite busy. But that really isnt an excuse to serve cold food and does nothing to explain the Mac & Cheese. I may try another location in the future. Hopefully, it will be a 4 star experience then.

The food is always very good. We generally order the Sweetheart platter, which is a full rack of ribs, and four sides, two per person. Their wings are also terrific. The prices are very reasonable. Unfortunately, there are two major issues here. One is the parking, if youre coming by car. It is an impossible situation. Between the homes, the businesses, the gas station, the Holiday Inn, all of the mechanics garages and all the construction going on... finding parking is a miracle. The other issue is the service. If you go during the week its generally acceptable. If you go on the weekend the service is the worlds worst. You wait forever for a waitperson to show up then once they do, you have to hope and pray they get your order correct the first time. First our waiter put ice in the drinks after we specifically requested there not be any. Then we ordered a pitcher of beer and received a glass. He forgot to bring the plates, silverware, and condiments to the table and had to be reminded. Then he forgot the cornbread and got some of the side dishes wrong. We also had a takeout order that he brought to us well before we were finished eating our own meals. Needless to say this is the norm rather than the exception on weekends, which is why we almost always go weekdays. Therefore we can only award 3 stars.

Flashback group of 4 sitting at in a quaint diner like restaurant at table in Syracuse, NY. Around are bikers in leather and jeans all chopping down on peel & eat with a rack of ribs on the side. Fast forward present. Group of 4 sitting in a vast cavernous restaurant with industrial chic feel in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Around are Brooklyn hipster and gentrified urban dwellers with a taste for BBQ. Here it is all about the good ole meat. The ode to the cow, pig and bird. The crispy Green fried tomatoes was not oily the cheese added a nice saltiness. The dipping sauce had a slight heat. The brisket plate with sides of coleslaw and baked beans topped with pickled jalapenos. The meat was moist and tender. The coleslaw cool and tangy not overly mayonnaise. The baked beans was a bit thicker than I like but still flavorful. The ¾ rack pork rib was melt of the bone and full of flavors. The jarred sauces on the table complements the meat but no necessary. This is probably some of the best BBQ weve had and what makes it great is that it is the prices are reasonable for all to enjoy unlike some other expensive joints and don’t have to sacrifice going to the bottom of the well BBQ chain.

This place is very nice. The wait was a bit long but theres an option to grab a drink by the bar and it was very cozy. The bathrooms are great but it seems like they ran out of chalk so we couldnt contribute to the wall art which was a bit saddening. This place is great to take family, a hot date, friends, anyone really. The food was great. I would have given them five stars but our waiter was a bit rusty. I am a server too and I understand how hectic it can be but he was just clueless and VERY forgetful. Our appetizers came out with our meals. He put our order wrong in the POS system, obviously, and then blamed in on the kitchen. And he forgot to get us the sauce and corn bread that comes with platters. We also asked him for a bucket to put rib/chicken bones in and he apologized, wandered off, and never came back with a bucket. Then, on our way out we gave him a warm goodbye and his goodbye was cold enough to scratch your head in confusion. Otherwise, this place is great! I can not wait to come back when theres live music! The food was very satisfying except for the mac and cheese but everything else made up for it.
