Not what I expected! I went there last week with coworkers. When I arrived, my coworkers warned me about the poor service but I decided to still give them a chance. So I stood by the bar waiting to order a drink. I waited, and waited, and waited...bartender never came. So finally, more staff comes in. So l became hopeful, not sure why. In comes this tall woman, obviously staff, and asks if everything was ok down on our end of the bar since she noticed the bartender was completely devoted to the other end of the bar(completely neglecting us). At that point I expressed how I was waiting to be served for over 20 minutes and no one cared to serve us. She asked for my order, I was like, "ok cool...finally Ill be getting my drink on". WRONG!!! I waited another 15-20 minutes...she never came back with the drink. So many things were wrong that evening...Im not even sure why, the place wasnt even that crowded! It gets better! I decided to go join my other coworkers on a table, to possibly order apps. Since they had already finished their apps, the very same tall girl, who obviously wears many hats there, came to the table after yet another 30 minutes to kick us out of the table because the table was reserved. First of all, I didnt see a reserved sign on the table...That is no way to treat your customers ladies! If your goal was to only serve your regulars, then you truly succeeded. My coworkers and I will NEVER go there again! I will be sure to spread the word to all my fellow teachers...DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE IF YOU EXPECT PROFESSIONAL SERVICE...the staff there is completely unable to perform! Ill rate them as ineffective! We ended up at a place directly across the street from them, Olivias. They clearly know how to serve their customers...we ended up having a great time!

While it was a semi-large party of six(four adults and two teenagers), the number of errors were too many to be acceptable. I will list them here in the order in which they occurred. 1. No bread was served at all while we noticed other tables got it. 2. one alcoholic drink, 1 lemonade and 4 passion fruit were ordered; they brought no lemonade and 5 passion fruit drinks. 3. Two alcapurrias and 3 shrimp pastelillos were ordered as appetizers; the pastelillos were ground meat(not shrimp); All 5 items were overfried. 4. While the very long wait (while annoying)was not an error; The mofongo CON chicharron came without chicharron. (on three orders) 5. One of the kids ordered french fries with his chicken and they brought rice and beans instead. 6. A street panhandler came in selling bootleg movies while we ate(not an error but annoyingly distasteful); The bill had the one alcoholic drink listed and charged twice. While the errors that were pointed out to the waiter were corrected (the lemonade, the french fries and the bill error); we did not bother with the other errors as we will not bother ever to visit this place again. We cannot give this place less than one star to publish, but it deserves none.

Where do I begin? We experienced an amazing time at this hidden gem. From the moment we arrived this past Friday March 11th the ambiance and atmosphere was great. We were treated extremely comforting and felt welcomed by Frances (owner). Our party consisted of more than 12 people and we were seated in the VIP section. The food was delicious, we started with the Picadilla then worked our way onto the Churasco Steak dinner and everyone else ate their own custom orders - all were delighted and amazed by how delicious the food was. Our waiters were professional and were at our side when needed. The bottle service was expeditiously handled and delivered. We had 3 bottles, an amazing dinner, a great time and even participated in the ongoing open mic karaoke experience. There is not enough stars to give Isla Cafe. Went there a few times for happy hour and the night life... During the day, as a black girl, I get treated with great customer service with a smile and a welcoming attitude. At night time, Ive noticed that I get treated different. For example, went there on March 30th 2017, at night, to eat and smoke hookah. The waitress took the covers off my table saying she "had to take it off" without replacing it. Like whose gonna eat on a bare dirty table at restaurant when clearly everyone around us still had theirs on. So me and my guest Gladly left because we had another experience prior to this that Im not gonna mention. But isla cafe, as a local girl who has the money to spend at your location, I will not give you guys my business at all anymore. Go to evo one train stop at castle hill! You will enjoy it way better

Just visited today 7/17/16 all I can say is I will not be returning to this piece of garbage place. The food was disgusting the drinks came in small plastic cups the types you get at a small family cookout. I wanna go on but Im on a better place called "STEP IN" I dont have time to waste. Oh and the hookah state like ash and burnt plastic mind you i ordered mango....i had ash bits in my mouth. They also charged a tip on my bill for just two people wow thats a low blow. The waitress did this because she knew she was not getting a tip from me at all. This place is horrible me and my wife will not be back. Also the music was blasting on another level too much for a Sunday at all. Also the waitress was a short fat girl trying really hard to be sexy with her gut out and her mean overbite thumb sucking mouth.

We had a groupon it was 50 bucks worth off food the waitress told us ok and have us two menus we ordered fifty dollors worth off food but we still had to pay 28 dollors more wen check arrived.they never explained wst we could have gotten but they were so wrong there were no limitations on our groupon it was just fifty dollars worth off food we waited almost 1 hour for food .the service was horrible i wouldnt recommen taking family there its wild and lould unruly bunch off people i had to scream to my husband wen talking to him the music was way too lould.any way after we left the next morning they were in the news shooting took place outside the restaurant and i bet it was their customers i will never be there again

I didnt sit in the restaurant but are out of the express side. Price is right, with plenty for five to eat. Empanada was flying out on site and mainly for the beef. I dont eat beef outside so didnt try it for myself but I notice it was a big hit. Kids like the food, I love the coffee and my husband was content.

Food was okay but the service was extremely slow. They were really unattentive. I went during happy hour and it wasnt even crowded. We asked for a table but they would walk past our table multiple time and not provide us with service until we asked for someone. Wont be going back
