Very Poor experience... I loved our waiter he was very friendly but that was the best experience of the restaurant... The food was absolutely horrible. Food was not seasoned at all, and not properly cooked... I ordered the chicken tamales, and it was such a small quantity... The quantity a 7 year old child would eat.. At the cost of $15... The tamales were so dry, the chicken inside was bland and tasteless, almost unedible... The rice served on the side tasted and looked like canned rice or rice that has been sitting around for days...I left feeling very hungry and sick... my father ordered a vegetable salad bowl... all the vegetables were given whole and uncut ( giant pieces of carrots and tomatoes thrown on top carelessly). Any chef with culinary background would know thats a big error. Clearly the chefs do not care about their customer and do not have proper culinary experience... My father complained that his salad was bland and unseasoned. My sister ordered a chimichanga and her chimichanga had giant pieces of uncut cauliflower and carrots uncut just thrown into it... And she kept complaining how the food was FLAVORELESS. Even the soda had a really bad after taste!! Ive had numerous other Mexican restaurants ( Don Jose, Jose Tejas, On the Border) and this restaurant does not compare to their quality of food: go to them if you want authentic quality Mexican food, this was by far the worst Mexican restaurant in terms of food I have ever been to in my life! STAY AWAY!!!

Went on a busy Saturday night, which is understandably, different from most nights. I usually dont expect things to be great on a Saturday night but I didnt expect the rudeness and horrible service we got this past Saturday. Waiter took 20 minutes to come get our drink order, kids food came out before we ever got drinks, drinks finally came out 10 minutes after that and we placed our food order which took another 45 minutes to come out . My husbands order came out incorrectly and when he pointed it out, the server grew visibly irate and took the plate back to get him the correct order. That also took another 15 minutes to come out, but by then we all were ready to leave. Server was rude and didnt really do much while we were there . Gave this review two stars because although this time we had horrendous service, the first time we went about a year ago, wasnt too bad . There was a longi wait on a busy Tuesday night, but they accommodated us and food was good, although service was a bit slow.. service that night was still exponentially better than this past weekend and I hope if we do decide to go back we dont have to deal with the terrible service again.

Tried calling in to order take out on Fathers Day and no one answered the phone. Tried several times over an hour and no answer. Drove in to place our order and see the hostess flat out ignoring the phone thats ringing off the hook. Called again while I was waiting there and placing my order and saw my number come up on their caller ID...ignored. Hostess wrote down our order in a notebook. Made sure it was correct. Took my name for the order but not my cell number. Told us the food would take to 40 minutes. Return after 30 minutes to pick up arms the phone is now silenced but still ringing away as indicated by the blinking light I had previously seen when calling in person. Called a couple more times while standing and waiting for the food, phones definitely silent and ignored by more people. My son thought it was funny. Hes in seventh grade... Finally take food back home and find that two meals were not exactly what we ordered. Whats strange is that we ate there once before and the food and service was great. One good experience in and one bad experience with take out. Ill probably maybe be back...maybe. Two maybes.

The margaritas were pretty good and the salsa and chips were also, but I ordered snapper fra diavlo and then I was told there was no snapper, so ok.. I went with shrimp fra diavlo instead. The waiter warned that it was going to be spicy and I said "great, I love hot and spicy which is why I ordered fra diavlo". Well it was like shrimp in tomato and onions, just your basic stewed tomatoes. The waiter didnt return until I had almost finished the meal and then I told him about it. They dont even have as much as a bottle of hot sauce to bring to the table, but he did offer some pretty bad hot sauce that they keep in the kitchen that they make themselves. It was hot, but bitter and tasteless. My meal was taken off the bill, as it should be, but I wouldnt recommend the place as an example of good Mexican cuisine. There is much better for a lot less in Dover and for that matter, Jose Tejas in Fairfield is a better choice. We wont be going back except to have a drink and chips at the bar because the chef is clueless.

My normal routine is to frequent a restaurant numerous times before recommending its palatable menu. With that in mind, Riviera Maya prepares a delicious Mexican fajita that is served on a sizzling platter. I would suggest ordering the trio which includes beef, chicken and shrimp. This version gives you the best value and the quality is superb. Are you in the mood for a traditional or Mango Margarita? Kudos to the bartenders, they prepare by far the best Margaritas in comparison to other establishments. The Mexican cuisine at Riviera Maya is without question the best in Morris County, New Jersey. The service is excellent and courteous. I recommend visiting this quality restaurant if you live in the area or are traveling through New Jersey.

Food was perfect and the flavors are absolutely cultural spot on. The prices are feasonably. Service is courteous, prompt and seamless. My son had a whole tilapia fried and the fish was flaky, fresh, the salad was plentiful, the refried beans were freshly made same as the Mexican red rice. I had a sample platter of tacos of 5 different tacos ( all perfect t flavors: cochinita pibil, steak, carnitas, al pastor and barbacoa. All of them fresh and plentiful served on top of fresh corn tortillas. I had also a house margarita. I would recommend Riviera Maya to anyone looking for a great Mexican meal, at a good price, freshly served and plentiful for your money. I was sad when I arrived... I am leaving happy and satisfied.

I love the Branchville location, it is my favorite restaurant in the world. I tried the Rockaway location and I commented to the owner on a few things I wish were more like the Branchville location. There is nothing better than a response from an owner who cares about their customers satisfaction. I would absolutely go back to both locations, I love the food, the pleasant staff and the decor. As you read the reviews, keep in mind how Rockaway is a new this location, and every new business has kinks to work out. I have watched the Branchville location grow and become my favorite place. Thank you Riviera Maya, I wish you the best success in your new location! This is a must try restaurant!

I have been to this restaurant in Branchville NJ several times and had a very good experience each time unitl today. The quality of the food was fair, bland, unimpressive. That was compounded by th efact that I had tkane the time to get a groupon to go there and when I went to use it was told it only applied to the Rockaway restaurant which until today I didn;t even realize existed. The waiter was smart enough to check with the manager but quickly returned with a denial. So for a lousy $8 theyve lost a customer for life. Of course to so so food didnt help either. They need to learn something about customer service (a dying concept)
