The two positive things are: the service is very good and the place is very pretty and upscale. The two negatives are: the price and the quality. I wouldnt mind the exorbitant price if the food were even slightly decent. I wanted Mongolian beef, but it was not on the menu. I saw Mongolian triple feast with shrimp, chicken and beef for almost $22. i asked if they had mongolian beef and the waiter said sure. what i got was the worst dish I have ever had. It not only had no resemblance to mongolian beef, but was actually quite horrible. when i got the bill they had charged me the $22 for triple feast with notes to hold the chicken and shrimp. They did not even add any more beef in place of the deleted ingredients. not that it mattered because I did not eat was they did bring. I usually judge a good chinese restaraunt by the number of Asians eating there. Tasty Hunan count was zero, so I guess I should not have been too surprised. This place also jacks you on sodas. about 6 ounces of soda in a tiny glass and no refills. I could see paying for each soda if you at least got a whole can of coke. Good news is some coworkers were going there today for lunch and i was able to direct them to a restaurant just down the street from tasty Hunan. It usually does not matter where I go for Chinese from Chinatown SF, CA to New York - Mongolian Beef is generally the same. In Denville at Tasty Hunan it is an abomination.

If you are looking for the very best in chinese food from ALL ASPECTS, this is the only place to go. No matter what anyone says, this place is perfect. As a Journalism major, it have always been very critical and look for any and every flaw, especially with food. This place has NONE. Whether youre doing private dining, out on a date, getting delivery/pick up, going out with friends, or just looking for a good meal, with exquisite atmosphere, that is not of the ordinary, this is the place to go. They are 100% professional with every aspect- from the food to the service. The location itself is gorgeous. From the outside in, you will feel as though you are in another culture entirely and creates a great atmosphere; breaking away from the traditional clutter of everyday restaurants. I will say, the food can be a little expensive, but it depends on what you are eating. The menu has plenty of low budget options that are just as delicious as the more expensive ones. I have never had better chinese food ANYWHERE. The service is second to none. I have rarely ever seen a restaurant with such humble employees and great attitudes. The moment you step into this restaurant, i promise you, you will add it to your list of favorites.

You cant miss the pagoda in the heart of Denville when you drive into town or pass on Rt 46. It stands out like a Disney attraction. In may cases, outlandish design signals bland, institutional cooking (think Outback...). At Hunan Taste, the decor is on par with the food - which is to say, wonderful. The menu is extensive and they cover all of the Americanized Chinese choices. The General is there (ten hup!) as is Hunan and Szechwan spiced dishes. The crispy noodles - best around these parts - seem fresh made and the duck sauce too tastes fresh, not from a plastic envelope. Service is brisk, professional and responsive. You would think you are in NYC, not suburban Denville. On street parking is plentiful plus they have a small lot - but no valet (thank god!). Prices reflect the quality of the food but I cant help thinking the upkeep of the fancy digs works its way into the bill. Recommended for that special date night or dinner with friends.

Ive dined at Hunan Taste for many years. This past weekend, my wife, son and I had the opportunity to dine here once more after about 8 years. The food was as expected, excellent. From a quality standpoint, it is probably the best Chinese food we have had. I consider this an upscale Chinese eatery with a casual setting. The prices are fairly high but match the food quality. All seems good, with 1 exception, we had poor customer service this go around. The waiter ignored us for about 20 minutes as we sat at the table twittling our thumbs, all because he knew a couple that came in after us. They were served, ate and enjoyed their service while we watched. Fortunately, the manager saw this and reprimanded the waiter on the dining room floor. We were promptly serviced following this. Overall a great place to eat and they typically run a tight ship...it was sad we had this type of experience this time.

Man this place was BAD! Went there for the lunch specials. I ordered Chicken Chow-mein, wonton soup, egg roll, and a coca-cola soda. Only the soda was good! I wish I was kidding but anything these people touch is horrible! Waste of money! The chicken chow-mein was shredded chicken, onions, celery, in some clear peppery sauce that tasted so bland I had to add some salt and soy sauce to get some flavor in there(salty is better than NO flavor). The egg roll was SUPER overfried and SUPER dry. The wonton soup was flavorless just like the chow-mein. I think this place is horrible. Id rather eat panda express(and that place is no good either). If New Jersey thinks this place is good they must be crazy (it was apparently rated very high by New Jersey food critics). Avoid at all costs!

Best place in Morris County to have a special event. Have gone for Birthday Parties, Graduations....most holidays and terific Chinese New Years special menu. Better food and atmosphere then when I actually visited China...The flavors are not covered up with salt. The staff is receptive and bend over backwards to accommodate your requests...I pick up cakes at Deville dairy and they happily serve it after a meal and do not charge extra for sevice...they even suggested I get ice cream cake at Deville Dairy. Awesome community cooperation. Now dont you all go crowding my favorite restaurant. Just had to finally write review after years of enjoyment.

This is a very decent American Chinese food place in a suburb town. Most of customers are white Americans (families with kids and older people). You can hardly see any Asian or Chinese people. The food was decent. The prices are somehow higher than average, but still reasonable. The outside and inside settings are outstanding. All were very clean and looks comfortable. Youll be safe to take your significant others to this Chinese food place. It seems the local people like it. And it sits in the heart of its downtown. Im not sure if Ill go back again.

I dont know why this restaurant gets so many good reviews and its always packed. Perhaps the decor? The dishes were completely dirty. You could see and feel the old food on them and it was all of the dishes. We got a second set and they were dirty also. Do they use a dishwasher, or just wipe that plates off with a dishrag? Disgusting. I suggest bringing paper plates if youre going to eat here. We ordered shrimp with lobster sauce and it was overly salty....could barely eat it.

Just had food delivered from here. It was outrageously expensive, and the food, while still warm enough to be theoretically palatable, was not particularly good. The general Tsos shrimp tasted nothing like any Ive ever had before, and the chicken with cashews smelled like potatoes and tasted bland at best. It also took slightly over an hour for the food to arrive. I suppose this is what I get for picking randomly from close shops on Google Maps.
