We loved the food and atmosphere and really want to love this restaurant. But the service is so slow that it is hard to love it. :-< For one thing, most of the drinks (except perhaps for iced tea and ice water) seem to come from the bar, not the kitchen. If the bar gets backed up due to a special event or just being understaffed and/or inefficient, you can ask for a drink (be it alcohol, soda, juice, or anything else) endlessly without getting it. Then there is an odd assortment of well-meaning yet curiously inefficient wait staff and supervisors roaming around the dining floor. The staff to diner ratio seems to be fine, but its very frustrating to attempt to get a drink, drink refill, some bread, a napkin, place your order, or pretty much anything else. Numerous staff walk by the tables, some in regular clothing and some in waitstaff uniforms, but very little is actually accomplished in terms of taking orders, refilling drinks or bread .. or even delivering the bill and collecting payment. I really want to like this restaurant as the atmosphere and food was great. But I sure hope the service is better if and when we go back ....

My husband and I had our July wedding at the Lafayette House and all of our family and friends are still talking about how incredible the food and atmosphere at the Lafayette House was. Jill, Chris, and the rest of the Lafayette House staff were absolutely incredible. Jill worked with my mom, sister, and I for months before the wedding to make sure everything was perfect. The room was breathtaking. I was a very picky bride, and I could not have been happier with EVERYTHING at the Lafayette House.

This restaurant has always been one of the few restaurants in Sussex that continuously delivers. The meals are always delicious. The crabcakes are one of the best, and the new LImoncello torte has replaced their tiramisu as the top dessert to have this summer.

Nice food. Awesome brunch deal. Great for after LARP events. They dont do split checks, but the waitress I had did it for us as a courtesy. Really nice of her. She got a healthy tip for it. Wish they let all the servers do stuff like that for large parties.

Went for a wedding reception. Beautiful banquet room,good food,the wait staff was friendly and came around often to fill water and coffee glasses. Overall a nice place.
