Flawless experience. Found it while looking for a place for dinner. It was Friday evening and the place was packed, with people waiting to be seated at a table. I was by myself so had stop on the counter right away. I ordered a Turkey Burger, that comes with fries and pickle & coleslaw. Everything on the plate was spot on. From the juicy and fresh burger, through the good fries to the very tasty coleslaw. While sitting, I noticed a big ice cream menu and people were just getting in to get ice cream. So I decided to give it a try, as everything is home made I am told. Had a scoop of apple pie and pumpkin flavors, with both of them being very good, but the pumpkin is very recommended. You can also get ice cream for home in containers which is great. At the end, when getting my check, I recieved a piece of chocolate. The service was incredibly friendly and nice. 5 stars well deserved.

What a fun place. Its somewhat nostalgic for me, with the big swirl lollipops in the back the side ice cream window that opens during the spring and summer, the family welcoming "Cheers -like" atmosphere when you walk in. Its just a comfy place to eat. There is plenty to choose from on their menu, with Prime Rib Thursdays and Fish Fry Fridays and they allow you to BYOB. For the kids they have a magician come around to the different tables on a certain night and have a little fun with the kids. What takes it over the top for me is: Im on this "clean eating" plan and they actually have a small section not on the menu but on the table flip chart that caters to my special dietary needs AWESOME and taste very good.

New York City Prices in Franklin Park. $7 for a kids meal grilled cheese. If you have two kids you just spent $14 without tax and tip. OUTRAGEOUS!!! Food is good, not great, but good. But dont bring the kids, considering you can go to a plethora of places within a 15 minute drive of the place where Grilled Cheese will cost between $3 and $4.50, it isnt worth the cost. The sad thing is that its a cute little place, with decent food and service, but someone better knock some sense into the owners about what is reasonable for a kids grilled cheese. I was in Manhattan last week and paid $8 for a hamburger and though they were out of their minds.

Can I give a negative star rating? What appears to be a quaint 1950s ice cream parlour is a house of theft and a truly poorly serviced operation unless, of course you want to pay and feel taken. My advice --- STAY AWAY. Imagine paying $5.50 for a cup of ice and a few drops of soda water ? The $11 burger had a stale bun and pardon the phrase but wheres the beef? The blond waitress was upset thay she had to leave the register to serve my table, and gave a continual look pain even while she was sitting at the cash register doing nothing. This was a first visit, and also a last, please be ware of the quaint place.

This is practically an area institution. Part Ice-Cream parlor, part family restaurant. The place is nicely designed and evokes a nice cozy feel. The ice cream is made on premises and is excellent. Food is OK, with good friendly service. Chocolates are great as well, and I believe they are made on site also. All in all a great place to come in to when you want to feel welcome. Different nights have different themes/specials. We were last there on Magic Night which had a magician going table to table and entertaining with small tricks. Everyone (kids and adults) had a fun time.

This place has it all, what a gem! Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and homemade candy, cakes and ice cream. Even their coffee is good. We are always full, relaxed and happy when we leave. The food is great, the place is clean and the staff sincerely enjoys making the atmosphere like a true family restaurant. Specials are well planned and sophisticated. If you have not tried it, you are missing out.

A very nice place with a nostalgic feel of an old time ice cream parlor. The other side of the space is a family restaurant. Plenty of parking and conveniently located in the shopping plaza on the corner of South Middlebush Road and Route 27. Jessica was awesome and let my daughter have ice cream even though I forgot my money...what?!! I highly recommend this place but bring your money...duh!

Just a word of advice, i recently order some pricey chocolates at 22$ lb. from their counter service and found it to be a bit more expensive than anticipated, when I got home I was curious to see what it weighted from my food grade scale and found that the packaging was included in the weight, a different of almost 5$. Personally I found that to be a little shady business.

The soups (especially their French Onion soup) and ice creams are delicious! The atmopshere is nice, but the dining seats are very uncomfortable. The matriach of the family is not very nice and welcoming (kids who work there alway say she is mean. The employees are made to clean the bathrooms). Signed - Guess Who in Monmouth Junction.

Elaine, really, employees clean the bathrooms! I thought that was the customers responsibility...teach your kids responsibility, you have to start somewhere. Back to Confects...its very very expensive; places with liquor licenses and larger overhead have cheaper prices and same or better quality.

The ice cream is delicious there is no doubt about that. The food is average and the equivalent to a good diner. The employees are young and energetic but have poor management. The owners need to give their staff raises and stop being so cheap. They should also enroll in a weight watchers class.

Great local ice cream and treat shoppe! They also offer a range of burgers, sandwiches, and entrees, but make sure that you save room for dessert, because thats where this place really shines. Ya gotta have priorities in life ... and the first priority is DESSERT !
