I am not one of the people who dishes out 5 stars just for the heck of it (check my history) but when I do, the place fully deserves it. anything under 4 stars and I dont review. I love Yelp to help me out and steer us to the right place. So last night, wife and I wanted Mexican. Our go to place is Rosa Mexicana but we didnt want to go to Manhattan so I looked around the area for something near but decent too. We read a few around here but when I came to the review here, I wanted to see why the low ranking (rubbernecking). After reading almost all of the review, the negatives were mostly from people complaining about delivery service. All of the positive reviews focused on food and atmosphere. The place is on Lemoine Ave and you need to park right in front of the place or around there. Which is fine and we did park right near it. The place is certainly not a hole in wall. The place was clean and certainly not dingy. Its not a fanfare restaurant and certainly nothing extravagant and if you want something with white linen clothes and really gauche place, this isnt it. However, if you want a very homey, comfortable environment, this is the place. On top of the place atmosphere the homey environment is helped tremendously by the service. Now that we get parking and decor out of the way, lets talk about food. The guacomole appetizer (not unlike Rosa Mexicanas) is a MUST. Fantastic flavoring, excellent balance of avacado, spices, and everything else that makes up that masterpiece. People complain about the price? Trust me, its worth every penny. My wife had steak and I had shrimp fajitas. Both were fresh, juicy, surrounded by the right type of "supporting cast" of onions, spices, and juices. The right balance is what really makes these dishes unreal and really very authentic Mexican dishes. The shrimp were not "fishy" at all, very crisp, cooked to perfect texture and taste. Ive tried my wifes steak and it was just fantastic. The meat was perfect in every way (not too soft but definitely not too hard). The beans! Oh my, you folks have to have try their beans. I know its a simple dish, but trust me, if you get it with your dish or you get it as a side, you will be glad youve read this suggestion. The service was personal, it was NEVER ever pushy and rushed. It was just like being in your own restaurant with your family owned environment, one of the best services weve had in many months (and we go out a lot). Overall, if you want a great atmosphere and thfantastic food, this is the place to go!

I usually do not write reviews but after placing my order earlier today I couldnt help myself, the food itself is not bad its pretty decent in flavor. the portions however are ridiculously small. I order the pollo al diablo and I kid you not they sent the rice and beans plate less than half full and the chicken breast was the size of my 4 year olds fist. when I called to ask if that was the regular size I was told by the "manager" that they have a "new guy" in the kitchen and the next time I decide to order from them they would do compensate me in some way.. all in all I would NOT recommend this place..

Mexican food its ok, not the best and not my favorite. Ordered here a few times and tried to order something different each time just to realize the food is not that great. Chicken its always dry and the wait time its ridiculously long, over an hr each time I order even though Im like 10 minutes away. Overall if youre from the area and craving Mexican food and want them to deliver, prepare yourself for a long wait time and eat a snack. For those just looking Mexican food in the area, I been doing my research for some tasty Mexican food!

I was staying in Fort Lee and went to this place on a recommendation from a local. Meals were a shade on the expensive side (average dinner plate runs about $15), but the food was bountiful, fresh, and authentic. My only complaint was due to the relatively inattentive service -- I had to go out of my way to get the waiters attention, even though I was one of two parties dining in on a slow Monday night -- but that didnt ruin the experience enough to keep me from going back next time Im in the area.

Got the menu in the mail. Decided to order for delivery - BIG MISTAKE. They would have got the food here quicker if they mailed it! After two hours of following up and hearing that they were 5 minutes away we finally gave up and cooked dinner at 10:00 PM. Along the way we were promised free food, delivery in 8 minutes, and warm food. Gave up and decided never ordering from here is probably better. Honestly the food might be great - but I couldnt comment on it as it never got here.

Well, i am never ordering from here again. Called for Delivery and an hour passes by i call them up and he tells me the guy is on his way. I wait another 30 minutes and still nothing. I gave up and just went out to eat at that point. Nobody ever showed up. Not only does the service suck, but their chicken is very dry and bland and the guacamole always looks rotten and purpleish ..

Use to go here and order here quite often and thought it was very good. How times change - placed an order today online through ChowNow and after 1 hour receive an email that order has been canceled and while trying to contact Cinco De Mayo to find out what is going on - no answer. Perhaps their hours have changed? Anyway a real disappointment for ChowNow and Cinco De Mayo.....

the food here is top notch. great family owned place with attentive service and cheap prices. the chicken al diablo and burritos are very good. its hard to beat this mexican restaurant when you combine the price, food and service. ive had much worse mexican at Mama Mexico in Englewood Cliffs for at least double the price.

First and last time I eat there. The food was very bland. Pork was greasy. The rice had to be out of box. Forgot many ingredients that were supposed to be in the dish. Dont be fooled! Nothing authentic about it. On the good side my delivery was actually very quick just wish the food would have tasted good.
