Well, I have to say that I found this delightful little bistro on the internet.. My friend and I were on our way from Rockland County (our home) to a 7.30 PM show in South Orange. We could have stopped in Teaneck in West Orange- a few places along the way. Oh my, are we ever glad that we stopped at Hummous Elite ( incidentally they were not elitists:)). The meal was delicious, organic (some of it) tasty food.. A choice of chicken , beef, veggy entrees.. wow! This isnt your everyday Hummous/israeli restaurant.. Thes guys have the magic sauce. Soups were unlike any we have ever tasted- fresh almost haute cusine, manhatten like(is that a term?). Folllowed by fresh whole wheat, my friend took regular, pitas to grace our pleasantly seasoned, well presented chicken and Chummous with Fool(Fava beens for the unitiated) dishes. All in all a really great dining experience that satisfied well after the meal ( Surprise-no salt driven thirst for water or anything to drink an hour or so after finishing) Keep up the good work guys- I will IYH return with the family soon..

After reading raving reviews, we decided to go to this restaurant after buying a Groupon for it. At first glance, the place boasted a quaint, homely, small location that perhaps was a little too small for the business demand. We waited a good fifteen minutes to be seated only to have them combine tables to accommodate our group of five. This was at around mid-day Sunday, so it could have been a bit more acceptable. We then proceeded to wait twenty minutes while other families came in and sat down around us. They had the audacity to even pass by us as they served other families before us. The very thing that bothered us was that the families they served all seemed to be personal friends with the owners. We, after waiting a total of 35 minutes to be seated and to not be attended, picked up our stuff and left. We went across the street to a "Its Greek to Me". Only recommend this restaurant if you are willing to wait an incredible amount of time for food.

I have Celiac Disease, so needless to say that its hard to eat out. I have been craving hummus for a long time and decided to give this place a try. I asked the waiter if he had a gluten free menu in which he explained that he didnt but would be able to recommend certain items for me. I was still hesitant but decided to give it a try. The waiter went out of his way to ask the chef to come out and speak with me. The chef offered to make me a fresh batch of falafels with new oil (which is very important since there might be cross contamination when frying and using the same oil). I felt better and decided to go for the falafels. I have to tell you that it was the best experience Ive had since I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease about 3 yrs ago. I will definitely be going back there and recommending it to all of my friends. The food and service were phenomenal. A+++

First time here was today and ordered 2 sandwiches a falafel sandwich for my wife and a chicken kabob sandwich for myself. After being explained the options such as white or wheat pita or of $2 more some other type of gyro bread and the difference between the israeli salad (chopped tomaotes, cucumbers, onion with olive oil and lemon juice) or the cabbage salad, i ordered the falafel on wheat pita with the israeli salad, then the chicken kabob on white pita with the cabbage salad...just drove to office and found that I didnt get the cabbage salad on my sandwich but rather the other....nobody in the store took 20 minutes to order and get 2 sandwiches made and then it was incorrect... no reason to go back

When I had hummus craving I used to go into Manhattan but not any more. Hummus elite is indeed elite hummus. Its just very good by all standards. Its thick, smooth and not too chunky and the taste is on the money. Ive since become a regular and eat there 2-3 times a week (I get the lunch special). I love the hummus and mushrooms and I normally get a side of fries, which are made from fresh potatoes (as fries should be made). Its a nice, warm and cozy place in the heart of Bergen County and since I live in Closter its only 10-15 minutes away and definitely worth the trip - highly recommended!

We had a terrible experience where they brought just a couple of dishes for our group and then ignored us and seated other newcomers and served them but not us. They apologized a couple of times but never brought the rest of our order. They kept serving other people and did takeout orders but not us. We sat there for over an hour waiting and reminding them. We couldnt leave because we had already gotten a couple of the dishes. Someone sitting near us said that the same thing had happened to them twice. Why would anyone go back there after that type of experience?!

Its hands down the best Mediterranean spot in the tri-state area at the most affordable prices!!! Their chef is a French Culinary Institute top graduate who worked at several NYCs elite restaurants for a few years. He mandates the highest produce standards so everything is fresh and taste so good. Since finding the place 2 years ago weve been eating here 2-3 times a week and can never have enough. Their catering is also superb,

Usually one of my favorites. Tonight when I brought my whole family it was very disappointing. Service was very limited. Couldnt get my water refilled, couldnt even get my bill paid although they added 18% for the poor service! We ordered an appetizer of wings listed as 10 pieces. It came with only 5. We were told the menu was misprinted. Overall it was a very poor experience.

Had the falafel sandwich for lunch. It was very good with the pita bread piping hot. There were some fries mixed in though which I thought was a bit unusual. Also the order took about full 10mins to come out even though the place was not that crowded. The wait staff were friendly and pretty quick with the bill when he noticed I took out my wallet to pay. Overall I would go again.

Kudos to the chef for bringing all hummus lovers delicious hummus that is done just right! This place is great...order the traditional (yet super yummy) Hummus Masbacha or kick it up with truffle oil and mushrooms when ordering Hummus Elite. There is something here for everyone, highly recommended!!!

We made a mothers Day reservation for for 15 people and they were very accommodating. We love it here, the restaurant is very inviting and the Service and food are amazing. This Restaurant should serve as an example to other restaurants. Highly recommend and we look forward to going there again.

I came with my family, overall the food was pretty good. The service was a little slow AND double check with the wait staff that the info on the menu is correct there are a few MISTAKES. The chocolate mouse was the best thing we had.
