Lets rename this place "The Wasteoftimeoverpricedcrappyfood Diner" have a ring to it? So, the drive was far (not your fault) the atmosphere was recently renovated to be fancy which had my expectations raised as soon as i walked in. Unfortunately the renovation was the best part of my experience . The menu was nice and sticky and the bathrooms were dirty (like pee all over the floor and seat) Id rather use a porta potty. Anyway, on to the food. Expensive, but maybe quality?? No! First problem is the coffee is horribley sour. Then the food took about 40 minutes to come out and it was cold or room temperature at best. So juices are watered down and over easy means over hard here. bacon was served very skimpy & thin, I probably could have flossed with it. Maybe I read the sign outside wrong.. Maybe next time I will visit for Americana Dinner instead of coming for breakfast, no wait.... their wont be a next time. two thumbs down. Yea I know, Ouch right? Start treating your customers right, stop being rude and serve hot quality food. I dont like paying high prices so you can put stone on your fancy walls... Feed me yummy food!! Your a restaurant, if I wanted to eat delicious food i wouldnt go to a museum.

Hippies in Manhattan The staff is great. Wait time to be seated great. Wait time for food great. Some people just have poor individual experiences (anywhere.) But there are experiences every customer will have in common . . . Ive been coming here for almost 30 years. Since the change of ownership, a lot has changed. It used to be a down to earth place with GREAT food for reasonable prices. Now it panders to the faux hippies of this generation with "organic" blah blah and "cage free" blah blah for overwhelming prices. The food doesnt taste nearly as good but I would agree it is perhaps . . . slightly . . . healthier; not worth the price. Maybe if they didnt put the syrup in chic miniature mason jars their overhead wouldnt constitute charging $5 for an organic drink that wasnt even freshly made, it was store bought. If you have a heart beat, theres a restaurant right down the road, if youre a try hard that wants to save starving kids in 3rd world countries but will spend on organic breakfast enough to feed said starving kids for a week, this is the place for you.

I have been a long time customer of the americana diner, have found their breakfast meals very good but somewhat pricey. If you have a plain omelet before 11am it is $6, but it comes with just toast and coffee everything else is extra,. An average breakfast with juice and tip runs about $16-20. After 11am ditch the coffee and the omelet goes up to $8. This place gets very pricey and portions are very skimpy, and a dinner with app or soup will run you about $40-50. One problem with this diner is poor management, as they changed tea programs, I am a tea drinker, stopped offering their old black tea and decaf tea, and then ran out of black tea under the new plan. They brushed it off and apologized, but I wonder what would happen if they "ran out" of coffee. They wouldnt be stupid enough to do that, but they did a good job of ruining my breakfast. Wake up management, change might be good if you didnt screw it up. Was in again for breakfast on 12/20 when guess what they again ran out of tea. It would be funny if it wasnt so pathetic. Just trying to lose customers.

This diner likes to pretend its a classy restaurant, but dont be fooled - just because the menu is printed daily and has prices without dollar signs, its still a diner. Food is typical cafeteria-grade slop. Entrees have fancy descriptions that always equate to institution style canned generic food. Despite being only about 1/4 full when I was there, service was extremely slow and rude. The waiter brought out salad (without even saying salad came with the entree in the first place) predressed with french dressing. When I told them I wanted it plain, they gave me grief saying "I should have known to tell them that before they brought it out." As if I was psychic! Every aspect of the fish entree I ordered was terrible - the broccoli was oversteamed until it was practically liquefied, the "seasoned" potatoes were so salty I had to send them back, and the fish itself was flavorless and about the size of a business card. Id never come back here again. Go to the Clairmont Diner down the street - its a much better place!

I used to very much enjoy coming here but recently theyve seem to have taken a turn for the worse. I went here with my girlfriend, so just us two, and the hostess walked us past several set seating arrangements for two people but instead sat us at a large booth for 5-6 people; for no apparent reason. Then our waiter took five minutes before asking us what we wanted to drink and we placed our order in about 15 minutes, despite us knowing what we wanted before we even got to the dinner. Our (breakfast) food was very good, albeit it was a tad overpriced. But perhaps the worst was that our waiter then proceeded to flirt with his female coworkers a few feet away from where we were sitting. He also complained about customers after they left, which is very unprofessional. Overall I was very dissatisfied with Americana, which is a shame because it was the best diner in the area.

*Great tasting food *Service is decent (3.9 out of 5) *Portions could be a little bigger, at least for the side dishes. A side order of fries or mashed potatoes could honestly be bigger. No reason to skimp on the serving size here. Seriously, you are charging your customers $3 dollars towards French fries which do not cost you that much money, yet youre serving them a small size portion in comparison to other restaurants. Im not a fan of this new "small portion bigger price" trend. Id rather be charged more up front, but know Im going to eat a filling meal. Yes, I understand I could just order more food, but thats not the point. The point is, if youre going to charge $3 dollars for fries, please give your customers a little extra, thats all. Otherwise, food tastes AWESOME! Regardless, Im still coming back to this place, because the food tastes great.

This is perhaps one of the best diners in all of New Jersey. The proprietors also own a few trendy restaurants. That experience transfers over into this diner. Everything about it is run like a fine restaurant. The menu items go far beyond the blue plate specials and the presentations are more likely to be seen at a fine restaurant. This place is very large and due to this it can get quite crowded and loud. At least this is what I have experienced on the weekends. Expect that the prices are a little higher than those at a typical diner. That in mind, I cant think of a better diner in the area. The portions are huge and we have found that they cook burgers, steak and seafood to near perfection every single time. Bonus tip: If you love pie, the Americana does pie quite well. Weve had the pecan, pumpkin and apple (sometimes in a single visit).

So this evening, I0 minutes after my plate was cleared from the table, there was no sign of the waitress (you would think that sitting in the first booth that can be seen from the front door of the diner she would want a quick turnover) I had to walk up to the cashier and ask for my check. I also asked for the manager. The cashier claimed there was no manager, could not find the waitress and then she tried to pretend that I wasnt standing there . After another 10 minutes the waitress finally appeared. After I paid, all I got was a very weak sorry. It should be further noted that the Diner was not all that busy, people were being seated as they came in - there was no wait So you guys dont get any more of my business. A pretty good meal was ruined by lameness and it wasnt because the wait staff was short staffed.
