This place is located in an unassuming strip mall, not visible from the highway. Walk in, though, and one is transported into a colorful wonderland full of color, sound, and flavor! We were seated and promptly brought freshly-made tortillas and some fresh, chunky salsa with the perfect mix of spices and bite. The main course was delivered piping hot in just a couple minutes. Nicely done, well seasoned. Tip of the hat to the Chile Relleno ... Usually a good indicator of quality. Beef and chicken burritos were excellent, as were the enchiladas. Cant wait to go back and try more. Wish one could award four and a half stars ... Very few places are perfect - but this is pretty close!

I agree with Mark! For a strip mall Mexican restaurant its 5 stars! But the SERVICE can be 3 stars. With menu pricing not reflected on the bill and charging for extra Salsa. Great ambiance, decor, picturesque tables and chairs. The food was good, well executed amd piping hot (they warmed up the plate they served the food on before placing the entree. The free chips and salsa were spicy and tasty! The quacamole could use improvement. Service was very prompt, observant, and responsive. Prices are very reasonable. Although they should update some of their menu prices because my entree was 55 cents more than listed.

Pros: Good flavor in the food (what little there was). Spicy, flavorful salsa with the chips. Cons: Chips were cold. Foods overpriced. Portions are tiny - you get mostly tortilla, very little meat or even veggies - also very little beans or rice. Rice came out cold. Chips are cold, too. There are no refills on drinks. Verdict: Go to Baja Fresh just down the road, save a ton of money, have much better food and a much better experience. If you really want, Don Joses may have good desserts. I wouldnt know, theyre not getting any more of my money.

I love this restaurant! Festive atmosphere and attentive friendly wait staff. When you are seated you are shortly greeted by a nice helping of fresh salsa and chips. If you happen to finish them, theyll bring you more if youd like. After you have eaten a few chips they will take you drink order than food order. Food always comes out quick, hot, and delicious. I have been coming here for years with my husband and they have been the most consistent restaurant Ive ever been too. Never disappointed and always nice and full. 5 stars all the way!

Went last night on a recommendation... Family owned and operated. Terrific decor, filled with lively pictures and authentic items. Restaurant was very clean; wait staff was friendly and efficient. I had the Shrimp Don Jose and thought it was excellent... plan to order the same thing next time. Food was plentiful, and a childrens menu was available. Very reasonably priced. Cant believe I passed it up over the years and never went in before - big mistake !!

My wife and I first came here about 2 years ago, visited again today and wasnt bad. Salsa and chips were good, the hot sauce (if you ask for the really hot one) is really great but have some water ready! We ordered the nachos and jalapeño poppers....nachos were a little burnt at the tips, poppers were a bit soggy at the bottom. For our main course we ordered chicken flautas and chicken enchiladas which were good. Being generous here with 4 stars.

Portions were fine, not sure what the other reviewer was talking about. Average food. I had a combo meal and preferred the shredded chicken to the beef which ground and seemed saucy. Tomatoes, lettuce, and guacamole tasted fresh. Attentive service. Painted tables and chairs with pueblo-style images of mexican ladies and flowers, mexican flags on the wall. Kind of fun spot tucked away in the middle of a bunch of strip malls.

Disclaimer: I ordered to go so, dine in experience may be different. Overall average Mexican food, nothing special. The guacamole and chips were pretty good and the rice and beans werent bad either. But, my steak fajitas were extremely chewy and a few pieces were charred. Definitely not the best fajitas Ive had. The place did look fun from the few minutes I stood in the doorway to get my food.

Got the Mexican Flag, it was awesome! A very nice place to eat. I found it strange that they give a salsa that is very hot (I cannot eat hot) and say you can pay extra for other styles. Overall they were great, they gave my kids crayons and a coloring book and a small prize. It wasnt as cheap as Taco bell, but I dont mind paying a little extra if the place is nice like this. I give it an A+

I lived in Arizona, been to Southern Texas a few times, and have had loads of GOOD Mexican food. This place was just average if anything. Even the iced tea was dull. I dont think the food here is any better than possibly Chilis, which were not crazy about. I prefer Toro Loco in South Orange.

Food was amazing, staff was very nice and food didnt take ages to be ready. Great atmosphere and best part its a very authentic mexican restaurant. Oh and sometimes they have live mariachi playing which i found pretty kool.

Sub par food at par prices. Ground beef in tacos and burritos. Microwaved sides. Cold guac which means not fresh. Fresh guac is room temperature. People who think this place is any good have no taste and love to waste money

Food is kinda bland. Im not much of an "adding hot sauce to every meal" kinda guy. I almost never add to the stuff, but I had to dump a lot of Tapatío Hot Sauce to give it some flavor.

All-around average. Nothing to complain about, nothing that stood out. Just another in the long line of average Mexican restaurants that exist in abundance in the Northeast.

We go here for lunch every once and a while and it is always very good. The chips and salsa have a home made feel and the entrees are well portioned and delicious.

I think this place is great! The food is very tasty and we have never had an issue with service. Even with a line, you are seated rather quickly.
