I went to many of these in Florida and always had a wonderful experience. Last night I went here with a few girlfriends and had a horrible experience. Upon arriving it was a 45 minute wait where they will call my cell when the table was ready. They called we walked over and they gave me a hard time asking if they called me, when I had on my phone they called but the service was bad since its inside the mall. Then, another host realized they did call me (?) although I was showing them on my phone someone called. I guess they are using their own personal cell phones instead of a work phone. We ordered drinks from the bar, that were on the happy hour and took at least 30 minutes for 3 cocktails. Our food (appetizers) and what we wanted as an entrée came before our drinks and all together, giving no time between our appetizer and entree. We ordered the trio chips as an appetizer. I ordered a salad with salmon, my friend ordered boneless wings as her entrée, and about a minute after we ordered my friend put in an order for the beef sliders. The chips - were full of salt and disgusting. My salad with the blacked salmon was good but, they for some reason put French fries on the plate as well. It took my friend to get her beef sliders almost an hour so everyone else was done eating by the time she got her meal. Then, it was cold. Normally, I would never ask to speak to a manager but, this was pretty ridiculous. For a new place its understandable if the workers arent familiar with the menu but the kitchen was run horribly. You would think it was a Friday, or Saturday dinner rush with how the kitchen/bar couldnt get an order correct. Needless to say when speaking to the manager his attempt was to recook one himself. Deciding we didnt feel like waiting longer we just opted for the check. Hopefully after this place gets into the swing of things it will be a better dining experience. I never write bad reviews but, everything about this place was an issue my first time here at the East Brunswick location. It will take a lot for me to return.

My husband has been waiting to check out Bar Louie in East Brunswick for quite some time now and we finally had a chance to go. We arrived at lunch time and luckily found seats at the bar - there was a 45 minute wait. We ordered drinks which arrived about 10 minutes later . There were two bartenders running the bar which was completely packed . We ordered chicken parm sliders and boneless buffalo wings at about 1:16 and at about 2:08pm our food was still not ready yet. The manager about 30 minutes after we ordered came out very apologetic stating that they did not anticipate the crowd since it was the Monday after New years eve. They were clearly short staff. He said that the food should be out shortly. 30 minutes later our food still hadnt arrived our bar tender comped is a drink and sent the manager out. He seemed surprised that we were upset since he had explained that they were busy 30 minutes earlier. We didnt expect the wait for two appetizers to be an entire hour! We asked them to take the food off our bill and left. This was a huge disappointment for us. How could you not anticipate a crowd at on a nationally observed holiday ? Looks like there is definitely some poor management over there. If you cant handle a lunch crowd, how can possibly handle dinner?!?!

Can anyone say sinking ship? I hope the staff here is polishing up their resumes. It looks like so much money was spent making this place into thee newest, latest, greatest place but: Walk in and theres no one to greet you. A server ran by with a full tray and said "seat yourselves". No smile, no hello, but thats ok. Sat at a bar top table...it was filthy! Moved to the next table which was cleaner and grabbed a menu...which was filthy. Like chunks of food was stuck to it. But thats ok. What wasnt ok, was that after having to flag down a waitress after about 10 min for some attention, and was told "someone will be right with you"...is when I looked at my watch and the timer began. It was an additional 17 min before we decided to walk out. Weve both worked in the industry for years, so the fact that the place was not crowded, (plenty of tables empty at 7:30p on a Sat) and we were treated in this manner, is unacceptable. If youve never been there, dont bother. The menu is quite limited unless you like spicy food (why is pepper jack cheese or buffalo sauce on everything?) If the service is this bad on a slow Saturday, I cant see it being any better any other day. Listen to almost every other reviewer here, go somewhere else.

Man, I wish I could love this place. I DO love the vibe and atmosphere. It has a very modern, open design with a large central bar. Lots of taps for beer...but since its a franchise, that limits how creative they can get with their brew. I like to support local craft breweries, but sadly, you will find none of that on offer here Where this place falters, is the service. The bartenders for the most part seem like theyd rather be somewhere else. They avoid checking on you, and on one occasion misdirected me. It was happy hour, and drafts were on special. So, I order a happy hour pint. The bartender asks if I wanted the larger size instead....so I figure, sure why not? What she failed to mention was that the happy hour prices were ONLY for the pint size. So, why did she upsell me without warning me there were no specials on the 20 oz.? No idea, but thats shabby service in my opinion, and possibly a ruse to get a larger bill for a larger tip. Annoying. The food is hit or miss. Tots are phenomenal. Veggie flat bread is spectacular. Sliders...meh. Calamari...soggy. Wings...not bad, but not great. This place has a lot of potential...I just hope they can pull it all together someday.

Ive actually never reviewed a place before but I really felt it necessary to reach out and save people some time and money. My friends and I (8 of us) arrived at bar Louie at 10:00pm we ordered our drinks and 3 of us then put in food orders. Someone got the pretzels, another girl got the ultimate nachos and I ordered the chicken sandwich. Typically when you go to a restaurant they bring everyones food out at once but they decided to bring things one by one? Okay. So after the pretzels and nachos came out I waited and waited for my food but it never came. We ordered at 11 and its now 12:00 when I ask the waiter if my food would be ready soon he went to check and said VERBATIM "oh they never got the ticket... do you still want it or should I cancel it ...." YES I STILL WANT WHAT I ORDERED. And when it came out there was no cheese-- I know that sounds picky but when you wait an hour plus for your meal it should be brought out how you ordered it. There was no apology, no comped drinks, nothing. He came to check on us maybe 3 times? All the other times we literally had to flag him down. Service is really lacking I definitely will not be going back.
