I have visited BBear about 9 times in 5 years living in Reno. If you dont mind spending $15 for a hamburger and fries for lunch with tip etc. that is about as far as I will recommend for this place. My overall experience is that yes, you can get a big heaping breakfast but the pancacks lack flavor and you have a hard time trying to chew through the thick bacon. If you go in by yourself they will try and pressure you into sitting at the bar for breakfast where you get to watch the kitchen gymnastics. Lunch, like I stated, the burgers are good but they are good at Wendys too without the seating, waiting, tips, etc. I have come in the evening twice for steak dinners. The first time they were out of all things, french fries ?! The one item I really had a craving for. The last time I waited over twenty minutes for the meal and the waitress forgot to bring me my soup. When she delivered my food and realized what she did I told her to forget about it already. The New York steak was paper thin but long so I cut it and found myself stacking the rubbery pieces together. For the long wait it certainly was only luke warm. Then the waitress asked me if I wanted desert because certainly I must have noticed all the delicous pies she was bringing out to the other table (while I was waiting for soup I never got). I was offered no discount for what I never received but the $25 ticket was a final cheap lesson to learn about Black Bear. Out of towners, the best breakfast and service in Reno is IHOP on I80 and McCarran as you enter Reno from California and I eat out a lot and spend a lot of money so I know.

We went to the Black Bear Diner for breakfast this morning, we had not been in a few years, and we thought wed give it a try. Food was good. Service was horrible from start to finish. The hostess was friendly but seemed very disorganized, not knowing what seats were available. The waitress was also nice but did not refill our coffee or water once during the meal. I could not finish my meal and wanted a take-home box, but the waitress placed the check on our table, without a word. When we went to the front counter to pay, the very disorganized cashier took forever to take care of the person in front of us in line. A group of seven people came in and asked for a table while we were checking out and the hostess rudely told them there was only room at the counter, even though we had just left a table big enough for seven, and there was an entire room with no one sitting in it. That party left and a waiter came out and asked what happened to the big party and when he was told they left he said "good, I didnt want to deal with them". All in all, bad behavior by all employees this morning.

Horrible experience. I ordered the pancakes with toppings of strawberries and bananas. They charged me double. Now normally I would understand but it can to doubling the price of my order to get a very small handful of fruit. On top of that they must have not cleaned the grill because my pancakes tasted off. Bringing my 10 dolar order to 18... I am very unhappy. Anywhere else you go you can get 50/50 fruit like that I am sure it is not common for that to be ordered. On top of that NOWHERE did it is specifiy I would be charged double nor was I informed. I have done the same thing at may other places and never have I been charged to much for fruit. Expecially since I didnt even get half a cup of it. When I asked about this well after I was finished to why I was charged twice the manager was very rude and acted like I should have known. When you say "fruit topping and whipped cread for said price" and are going to charge for each type of hoping not the amount you should specify that. Expecially when you give only the amount you would get for one.

Got there waited 5 minutes for the hostess to finish her personal conversation. Than watched our food sit under the heat for about 15 minutes while listening to the other waitress complain how my food was put under the wrong table number and said Oh well not my problem and put it back than just pushed my food around for another 5 minutes while she yells at the chef for speaking in spanish and my waitress was back up in the front again talking to more of what looked like to me her friends. Now at the point I was furious. I now had been sitting there for about 35 mintues while my food has been ready for HALF of that time. I have been to the Black Bear in Federal Way Washington and I was blown away with how great it was, But as for Reno all I can say is they need to let go of EVERYONE there and start new. DONT GO! I suggest the Purple Parrot in Atlantis Casino

From reviews below one in particular... When a room is completely empty and a hostess say "They have no room. " Either; A.) That server who is suppose to take that room isnt there yet, because they arent scheduled to work at that moment and everyone else is kind of full of things to do. Adding a 7 top (group of seven people) would only set that group up for bad service. Or B.) They have a private party that is coming in soon and they need that space open. I think from certain comments below that person should realize ya some was wrong, but they were probably slammed and need to be cut some slack! I love every black bear I have been to! And I also understand when things are busy it gets hard I was too a server once

This was an on the moment choice for 30 plus of us to have our last Birthday breakfast with our 93 year old grandfather before heading back to all our home destinations. We thought for sure the wait would be a long one, not the case. We where seated with in 20 to 30 minutes in a private room. Lucky us. We even had a really good waitress/server Ana. She was amazing. She brought out our drinks and kept them filled to the rim at all times. She made sure our kids all got balloons and a picture with the Black Bear himself. Didnt even know they had one. Kids loved him. Our food was hot and delicious. I totally enjoyed the Breakfast Burrito with extra pico de gallo. YUM!!! Thank you Ana for the wonderful service!

So I go into this restaurant with my family and I order the rib eye steak I wanted it rare and the waitress Sue-Z said that because I was pregnant I had to Al least have it medium rare I was pissed and i ordered green beans for my kiss and she gave them corn on the cob I think she needs to be let go she shouldnt tell anyone who is pregnant and craving something some way that I have to eat it a specific way because of my pregnant it is not up to anyone to tell me how I should eat while pregnant of I want a steak rare then she shouldnt question my discussion its my baby and my life and my body Ill eat whatever I want to
